However, some countries do count down the seconds until the New Year begins at the same time.


So, the Kiritimati Island also known as the Christmas Island and 10 others mostly uninhabited islands of the central Pacific Ocean will be the first to ring in 2025.


In clear terms, they will be celebrating new year, 1st January 2025 while it's 1:00pm December 31 2024 in Nigeria.

The last place on earth to see Christmas is one of the USA islands, specifically Hawaii.

Countries furthest to the west on a British map are the last to celebrate the New Year this means, two uninhabited islands southwest of Hawaii, named Baker Island and Howland Island, will be the last to see the start of 2025.
