I can see a CIV vs Nigeria rematch in the final. But honestly, this CIV team is better than the one we faced 2 years ago. Lethal wingers and a strong midfield.

But let’s take care of Algeria first

Simple.

Make the ports in PH, Warri and Calabar functioning. In a few years we’ll see who really wants to be in Lagos.

Some traders will stay. Some will leave and set up shop closer to their final market.

Lagos has business advantages because a lot of business infrastructure that has been built over years. It is the most viable corridor for trade in Nigeria but in 2026, we need to diversify the corridors.

Let’s leave the tribal and ethnic sentiments aside.

Lagos is what it is today because there was concerted efforts to develop it’s industries and capacity.

3-0 at 55 min. I’d like to see Onyedika and Nnadi come on for Frank and Ndidi. Both are on yellows, no need to risk it.

We should also try to give some minutes to others wey never see field.

Tunisia was dreadful last night and I’m glad Mali finally got something over them but the Malians are too rash in their tackles.

Tunisia qualifies for AFCON and WC with solid defensive displays but never actually go far.

The ultimate underdog. They won AFCON mainly with local players — and no one knows if it will ever happen again.

They once dominated African football with trophies and beautiful play, but today they struggle to win.

They attend every AFCON for purely touristic reasons.

🇲🇱 Mali = AS Roma
They love participating in AFCON, fully aware they’re not going to win it.

Most of this is incorrect in my opinion.

Nigeria is closer to Arsenal. Both teams generally play good football, but seem to come up short frequently when it’s time to win a title. Whether being knocked out in the SFs or coming up short in the finals as runner-ups. Nigeria is tied with Ghana with the most AFCON final losses (5) but we have 3 titles and they have 4. Nigeria has the most bronze medals at AFCON with 8.

Egypt is Real Madrid. Simply beacuse they have the most titles (7) similar to Madrid in UCL, and generally when they get to finals, they win. The Pharohs have been to 10 finals and won 7 of those. Madrid have 15 wins in 18 finals.

Ghana is similar to Benfica. Heavyweight across the continent but over 40 yrs since lifting a European/African title

Cameroon might be closer to AC Milan. 2nd most titles but haven’t won in a while

When the Boys have been separated from the Men.

You get am. I actually think AFCON was better at 16 teams, similar to the 16 team Euros. Imagine an AFCON with just these 16 teams

Nigeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, CIV, DRC, B. Faso, Mali, South Africa, Zambia, Benin, Sudan....

Even the group stages would be challenging. But once you get out of the group, straight to the last 8.

Good win from the boys and in particular Onyedika. Want to see more of him moving forward.

I’d have liked Chelle to have given more minutes to the younger/newer folks.

The moment we went 3-0 up we should have seen the likes of Dessers, Fago, Nnadi, Ebenezer etc

Defensive lapses still haunt us. Hope we tighten it up for the KOs. We have everything to win this AFCON.

Osimhen has no business starting with Onuachu. They should only play together if we are chasing the game.

This constant selection of an unbalanced midfield is worrying. Why not drop one of Osimhen or Onuachu for Akinsanrimo or Nnadi?

I like that Chelle rotated but I dislike us starting in such an unbalanced manner.

You are correct. We play to our opponent which is a terrible habit.

I have analysed this situation over and over.
A midfielder will not present as the effective weapon against the momentum of the Tunisians as well as plug the zones they were exploiting.

Wingers will not only plug the zones, but will provide more attacking threat that can push the Tunisians back.

What the Tunisians had wasn't game tactics, they have been beaten to it, what they had was just momentum. If we had managed to score just one, which we can, they will look for their sleeping mats.

The Super Eagles is not a team that can survive being on the back foot for long even with our midfielders.

I disagree. A winger and midfielder would have been fine to bring in. But bringing in two wingers and altering the shape was not needed.

We already showed in the first half we are capable of possessing the ball and taking the air out of the game. That was what we needed.

Also, Chelle has a 28 man squad. If you won’t try new faces when you are 3-0 up in the 2nd group stage match and have qualified for the R016 then when will you?

The likes of Onyedika and Akinsanmiro are playing club football at a high level. They should be able to see 10-15 mins of a match we are leading my 3 goals.

And let’s be very honest. Tunisia is a “powerhouse” in that they are consistent qualifiers for the AFCON and WC but they don’t actually play ball.

They’ve won one AFCON and been to two finals.

Yes Naija dey gall hand but we really arent in the same tier as them.

To be honest. I really only see Egypt and sometimes Algeria as North African powerhouses, especially at the AFCON.

Qualfying for the tournament and doing well in it at two different things.

To kill the momentum of the Tunisians we needed wingers with the energy to run into space, to run with the ball and make something happen and we almost succeeded.

I figured Chelle wanted someone to run with the ball. Ejuke for Akor was fine. Simon for Onyeka made no sense IMO

Chelle needs to take time with his substitutions sha. There was no need to destabilize the team with those attacking subs.

Let’s see more of our midfield. This is a long tournament, need fresh legs

Ndidi-Onyeka-Iwobi midfield is solid, though can be improved.

Osimhen-Lookman and one other attacker (Adams, Chuks, Simon, etc) is a very potent front 3.

I think there are many players that can foil well with Osimhen.

Lookman, Akor, Boniface, Uche.

Of those four, I think Boniface, at his peak, would be the best foil for Osimhen
