Peachess:Let me answer this. The cause of autism is unknown. Some children develop normally and then start to regress or lose the abilities and speech they once had after events which could include Immunization. It could also be a child meeting other milestones but not learning from the environment. People on the Autism spectrum, contrary to what I have read on this post, have the potentials to be geniuses once it's well managed. A lot of exceptional people including Messi,Mark Zuckerberg ,Albert Einstein, Steve Jobs have all demonstrated traits of people on the Autism Spectrum. A classic trait of people on the autism spectrum is Repetitive actions. Because they can do the same things over and over again, if it's rightly channeled, they become geniuses in their fields. |
@Yemi1261, Do you have a diagnosis now? Please get him assessed developmentally so you can know what you are running with. There are developmental pediatricians. They are the only ones who can to a large extent give you a right diagnosis. With what you said, it's more than just speech. Check this post and see if your son has those red flags. He is still young and can make significant gains with the right frequency, intensity and duration of targeted activities. https://www.nairaland.com/3709096/autism-awareness-week---seeing-world-different |

It's World Autism Awareness Week. This week has been set aside to promote awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). People living with Autism simply have a different way of doing things.
