Phones › Re: Since MTN And Airtel Lounched 5G Their 4g Now Now Terrible by Mustack: 6:28am On Sep 07, 2025 |
rowend: I am currently close to getting a 5G router(N80,000) so I can relate to what you are saying.
Before 3G, 1MB/s was a myth and websites were much lighter in terms of megabytes so that explains 2G's extinction to an extent.
But I vividly remember getting my first 4G phone (with Glo 4G then) and later on, also connecting to Smile and MTN 4G for first time - both times, I was so flabbergasted by the speeds. I remember hitting 8MB/s on MTN (64Mbs).
One thing is this - more and more people are coming online. We are all using more and more of the available bandwidth - fair usage policies (FUP) and network congestion are what are killing network speed not the technology itself which is still very sufficient.
For context, I sometimes get better speeds on Airtel and Glo 3G than their 4G.
The road did not get smaller - it is cars that increased. At 2am where I am, even 3G can hit 2MB/s but by 2pm, 4G cannot load Google.
So for me, getting a 5G router is less about better technology and more about getting privileged access to a wide express road that no one is using yet in order to avoid the holdup on the narrower other road.
Hope this answers your question. you make it very clear to me now. |

Dragunz: Abeg make e quick before I re subscribe i did the 6 month plan that will exp by dec this year. one thing that i have noticed few weeks ago is that when the time clock 11am the network speed will drop to the point that it wont open a page that doesnt have graphics. the network will bounce back around 5pm again. at this point am frustrated bcus its affecting my business during those period. my last stand is to runout this current plan and sub for the 60mbps to see if theres going to be any improvement. if not so i have no other option than to move to another network... |

Don't you have banking app to Carry out business or day to day transactions. Retailers now accept transfer as low a N100. Out of 10 people you approach 1 will surely accept it transfer. Politics › Re: POS Agents Selling Cash: A Threat To Nigeria’s Economy by Mustack: 8:21am On Jan 19, 2025 |
adalame: In recent years, the practice of selling cash for withdrawals has become a common trend in Nigeria, especially during periods of cash scarcity like we witnessed with the naira redesign policy in 2023. POS agents now charge exorbitant fees for cash withdrawals, with charges reaching as high as ₦1,000 for ₦5,000 during crises.
This practice, while seemingly helpful, raises major concerns: Erosion of Purchasing Power :High fees reduce consumers’ disposable income. Inflationary Pressures :Businesses pass increased costs to consumers, driving inflation. Widening Inequality : Low-income earners and rural dwellers bear the brunt of this exploitation. Distrust in Banking : Many Nigerians now rely on POS agents over banks, undermining financial inclusion.
Why is this happening? - Limited ATMs and inefficiencies in the banking sector. - Cash scarcity caused by poor policy execution. - Weak regulation of POS operators.
The government must act to: Cap POS Fees : Introduce and enforce regulations to stop extortionate charges. Strengthen Banking Infrastructure : Ensure ATMs and banks are accessible to all Nigerians. Promote Cashless Policies : Educate citizens on electronic payment options while improving network reliability. Improve Financial Inclusion : Work with fintechs to provide affordable, accessible financial services.
Fellow Nigerians, do you think the government is doing enough? What’s your take on this growing menace? Share your thoughts below!

Offpoint1: 😂 They're ain't trooping in because of price affordability dude. That's because of the repairs going on Eko Bridge, Marine bridge and other major roads. Most route were closed and traffic was hell.
The train fair is 2x the bus fair... The only thing I'll accept in your list is the time factor. I think you're listening to back of your radio station |

PriceActionZ: Good moves , but I think they should bring their prices down small. I heard that most of the trains travel on empty coaches due to high prices especially during the day. At least there should be some ways or balances to reduce the price both off peak and on peak to generate more funds for LAG. Try to confirm your claims by yourself. People trop in because of price, affordability, safety, convenience and time factor compared to Danfo and molue. |

immortalcrown: Many power banks do fast charging. But when it comes to lasting long, I mean remaining strong after many years, go for Anker.
But Anker is more expensive than many phones. youre right. ankar is not to popular here in nigeria but its pricy. i couldnt lay my hand on the ankar 737 but i have to settle with besues PD65W 30000mah digital power bank. in all honesty, am enjoying this beast. it can charge your laptop. check youtube for more reviews. put itel and oraimo together they will still not charge laptop. |
