Politics / Buhari Is A Seal Deal by muticoomage(m): 8:56pm On Dec 30, 2018 |
If those who removed Buhari from power in 1985 knew he would ever come back, they would have killed him like Balewa, Ironsi or Murtala. They never imagined there would ever be a Buhari Presidency....they spotted a likely emergence of Idiagbon, they poisoned him immediately....lol. Not funny actually. They thought Buhari Ambition would be a lifetime joke but when they saw the reality in 2014, they organized assassins to kill him in Kaduna his beloved city, he is from Katsina but based in Kaduna. Just like they killed Bola Ige in Ibadan his beloved city, he was from Esa Oke but based in Ibadan. However, Buhari escaped but his car was shot many times and convoy bombed!!! Buhari defeated the combination of his destiny truncators. Just like MOSES too, if the Egyptians knew he would free their slaves, they would have killed him inside the palace when he was a baby. . After all, they killed other babies... Even as the President, Buhari was poisoned, those who poisoned him knew he couldn't have survived because others like Abiola, Abacha, Idiagbon didn't survive. The mystery of his survival has turned the reasoning of his assailants upside down. The Buhari they know is dead. Just like MOSES was different when he reappeared to the Egyptians. He wasn't running away again, he called Pharaoh by name, he messed up all the Dubai Magicians of Egypt...Moses was the First Jubrin from Sudan!!! 2019 is sealed because the Egyptians must contest with Moses, Moses did not die and Moses has taken up the challenge to ensure that the oppressed people of God remain free!!! To all Buharists all over the world Happy Sunday to us. Ayekooto Akindele

Nairaland / General / Sir Ahmadu Bello's (sardauna Of Sokoto) Christmas Message To Northern Christians by muticoomage(m): 10:35pm On Dec 25, 2018 |
SIR AHMADU BELLO'S (Sardauna of Sokoto) CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO NORTHERN CHRISTIANS IN 1959. We are people of many different races, tribes and religions, who are knit together by common history, common interests and common ideals. Our diversity may be great but the things that unite us are stronger than the things that divide us. On an occasion like this, I always remind people about our firmly rooted policy on religious tolerance. Families of all creeds and colour can rely on these assurances. We have no intention of favouring one religion at the expense of another. Subject to overriding need to preserve law and order, it is our determination that everyone should have absolute liberty to practise his beliefs. It is befitting on this momentous day, on behalf of my ministers and myself, to send a special word of gratitude to all Christian missions. Let me conclude this with a personal message. I extend my greetings to all our people who are Christians on this great feast day. Let us forget the difference in our religion and remember the common brotherhood before God, by dedicating ourselves afresh to the great tasks which lie before us. Leaders who truly believe in Nation building not looters who come to power to be served & be worship. God bless Nigeria and Humanity!

Politics / FEBRUARY 13, 1976 COUP by muticoomage(m): 5:36pm On Dec 16, 2018 |
DOWN HISTORY LANE | FEBRUARY 13, 1976 COUP. When Lt. Col. Bukar Dimka of the Nigeria Army Physical Training Corps stepped out of his official residence on Macpherson Road, Ikoyi, in the early hours of February 13, 1976, he had one agenda in mind; the killing of the then Head of State, Gen. Murtala Muhammed. He achieved that criminal act by gunning down the Kano-born head of state a few minutes after the latter left the Dodan Barracks, Obalende, the official seat of the Federal Military Government at the time. Muhammed’s official black Mercedes Benz was riddled with bullets near a petrol station on Bank Road, (now Murtala Muhammed Drive) opposite the Federal Secretariat, Ikoyi. Killed along with him were, his ADC, Lt. Akintunde Akinsehinwa and driver. After the assassination, Dimka had made a broadcast at the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) studio in the following words; ‘’Good morning fellow Nigerians, This is Lt. Col. B. Dimka of the Nigerian Army calling. I bring you good tidings. Murtala Muhammed’s deficiency has been detected. His government is now overthrown by the young revolutionaries. Any attempt to foil these plans from any quarters will be met with death. Everyone should be calm. Please stay by your radio for further announcements. All borders, air and sea ports are closed until further notice. Curfew is imposed from 6am to 6pm. Thank you. We are all together.” Two days after Muhammed was assassinated, Dimka was declared wanted for treason and murder by military authorities. He was eventually caught at a checkpoint at Abakaliki on March 5, 1976 and brought to Lagos the following day. On March 6, 1976, the Federal Government promptly issued a statement on his arrest as follows: ‘’His arrest followed a massive manhunt operation mounted by a combined team of the Army and Police in the area. ‘’The previous day, Lt. Col Dimka had checked in at a local hotel in Afikpo under the name of Mr. C. Godwin of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Enugu. Later, on his request, the hotel manager secured for him a girl, Miss. Beatrice Agboli, with whom to spend the night. ‘’A few hours later, the local Police security was alerted and they closed up on him. At about 10.30 pm, he bolted away through the window of the toilet of his hotel room into a nearby thick bush, abandoning his car with a dangling registration number ECC 6253.” ‘’The continuous joint manhunt operation by the Army and Police resulted in his subsequent arrest near Abakaliki.’’ Barely few hours after he was brought to Lagos, he was interrogated by the military Board of Inquiry led by Major Gen. E. O. Abisoye. However while Dimka was being quizzed, 32 people including Major Gen. Illiya Bisalla, who had already been tried for their roles in the attempted coup were executed in Lagos on March 11, 1976. The only civilian executed among them was Abdulkarim Zakari, a graduate of University of Ibadan, who was said to have led Dimka and others into the studios of the NBC on February 13, 1976. The broadcaster was also cited as the man who signed for martial music records from the NBC library the previous night. Just as the first batch of coup plotters were executed, Dimka’s trial begun after he was presented to the press on March 11, 1976. Handcuffed, Dimka who wore a katftan dress watched journalists listen to a tape recording of his appearance before the board of inquiry for about five minutes. He confirmed that the voice on the tape was his own and that it was a recording made at his interrogation. He emphasised that the statement was not made under duress. According to a Daily Times publication, ‘’13 Years of Military Rule 1966-79’’ the highlights of Dimka’s confessional statements included, ‘’Frankly speaking, I should say the beginning of the coup idea was around January this year (1976).’’ He said he had discussions with some persons including former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon in London and when he returned to the country, he decided to assign responsibilities to members of the young revolutionaries conscripted into the plan. But Gowon, who was in exile at the time denied any prior knowledge of the coup attempt. Dimka also claimed the coup plot was hatched by young officers who resolved not to involve any Lieutenant Colonel and above except himself in a bid to effect a change of government. In his confessional statement, he said, Gen. Bisalla had complained to him and expressed his frustration that despite being a member of the Supreme Military Council (SMC), each time there was a decision to be taken, he was either sent to one place or the other. Dimka said ‘’ Bisalla told me that whatever will happen he want us to go ahead, and work out the details.’’ Explaining how responsibilities were distributed, the leader of the coup plot said ‘’ When I met Major Rabo, he said that he had finally distributed responsibilities. Major Rabo was for target one- Head of State, Lt. Dauda was for target two- Lt. Gen. Obasanjo, Lawrence Garba was for target three- Lt. Gen. Danjuma. ‘’Major Gagara was for Ilorin and Sokoto, Jos had nobody. The main centres of operations were Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin where there are Radio stations’’. He also listed the targets of attack, that is, those to be eliminated as the Head of State, the four GOCs, Col. Babangida, Col. Bajowa, Col. Mohammed of Sokoto, Col. Ibrahim Taiwo of Kwara, Col. Abdullahi of Jos and Col. Jemibewon of Ibadan.’’ Dimka also confessed before the military board of inquiry how Zakari showed him the NBC broadcasting section on February 12, a day before the coup attempt. On how the ex-Head of State was killed, he said ‘’ I stood at George Street with Major Rabo to wait until such a time when the Head of State’s car was coming out. There, one Capt. Malaki who was to give the warning order. Capt. Malaki was to be on the watch to signal Major Rabo and Lt. William Seri on the approach of the vehicle. So I came up and I was at the petrol station waiting. ‘’I was behind while we were talking when the Commander –in-Chief’s car passed. In fact, I did not even see it until when Malaki said the car has passed. So, we rushed in and then followed and the car was held somewhere just opposite the petrol station. ‘’Lt. Seri was approaching the car when we stopped and Major Rabo rushed to him, then the firing started. ‘’ Dimka confessed that after the Head of State was assassinated, he went to the NBC and made his broadcast that the young revolutionaries had taken over the government. At the end of his trial, coup leader and a number of others were found guilty of treason and murder. Their death sentences were confirmed by the Supreme Military Council. Dimka and seven others were eventually executed by firing squad at Kirikiri Prisons on May 15, 1976, for their part in the abortive coup. Also executed among the squad was the former Governor of the then Benue Plateau State, Joseph Gomwalk. However, two NCOs, Sgt. Clement Yildar and Corporal Dauda Usman escaped and were never found. They were declared wanted by the authorities. The situation led to the promulgation by Olusegun Obasanjo regime of certain retrospective decrees and new military laws justifying mass executions for coup participation. FRANCIS FAMOROTI. Fellow Nigerians, This is Lt. Col. BS Dimka. I now explain why we the Young Revolutionaries of the Armed Forces have found it necessary to overthrow the six month old government of Murtala. On the 29th July 1975 the Government of General Gowon was overthrown. Some of the reasons given for the change were: a. Corruption b. Indecision c. Arrest and detention without trial d. Weakness on the part of the Head of State e. Maladministration in general and a host of other malpractice. Every honest Nigerian will agree with me that since the change over of government there has not been any physical development in the whole country generally. All we have is arbitrary dismissal of innocent Nigerians who have contributed in no less amount to the building of this great nation. A Professor was arrested, detained, dismissed and later taken to court on an article which every honest Nigerian will agree that all the points contained in that article were 100% truth. The sad point about it all is that those who initiated the retirement or dismissal exercise are the worst offenders. You will be informed about the ill-gotten wealth in my next announcement. The acting General Manager of the Nigerian Airways was invited to the Dodan Barracks and detained without trial. The people of this country have been living in a state of fear. The Armed Forces promotion exercise is still fresh in your minds. Whatever reasons they have for the promotion one can only say that they are ambitious. They in fact took over power to enrich themselves. We are convinced that some of the programmes announced for a return to civilian rule are made to favor a particular group. To mention only one. Maitama Sule is a politician. But has been appointed Chief of Commissioners for Complaints. This is to prepare him for the next political head at all cost. How many of you know that Maitama Sule is on a salary of N17,000 p.a.? In view of what I have just said and a lot more which time will not permit me to mention, we the Young Revolutionaries have once again taken over the Government to save Murtala from total disgrace and prevent him from committing further blunders and totally collapsing the country before he runs away in the name of retirement to enjoy the huge fortune he got through bribe which he has now stored outside this country. I believe that charity should begin at home. Please stay by your radio for further announcements. We are all together. #Copied https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=740097159704495&id=734042043643340

Foreign Affairs / US Airstrikes On Syria Kill 26 Civilians, Mostly Women, Children by muticoomage(m): 3:36pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
The US-led coalition’s airstrikes on Dayr al-Zawr, eastern Syria, killed 26 civilians, including 14 children, on Friday morning, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. According to the war monitor, the civilians, including 14 children and nine women, were all members of Daesh families. The airstrikes reportedly targeted a Daesh hideout in the town of Hajin, located along the Euphrates River, south of Dayr al-Zawr. The coalition’s raids earlier killed another seven civilians in the nearby village of al-Shaafa on Thursday, Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman. Hajin’s civilians were also targeted by the airstrikes of the so-called military coalition’s fighter jets last Saturday, when 15 people, mostly women and children, were killed. Late last month, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Bashar al-Ja'afari confirmed at a UN Security Council meeting that the US-led coalition had once again used white phosphorus bombs against Hajin. On September 8, two F-15 warplanes of the US Air Force targeted the same Syrian city with white phosphorous bombs. Both Hajin and al-Shaafa are in a last pocket under Daesh control in the eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr near the border with Iraq. 3,222 civilians have lost their lives ever since the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group launched its aerial bombardment campaign in the conflict-plagued Arab country more than four years ago, the Observatory said in September. There were 768 people under the age of 18 among the fatalities in addition to 562 female victims. The US-led air raids also resulted in the injury of hundreds of civilians, some of whom suffered permanent disabilities and had to have their limbs amputated. The monitoring group noted that the civilians were killed by US-led warplanes in Syria’s northern province of Raqqah, northeastern province of Hasakah, northwestern Aleppo and Idlib provinces as well as Dayr al-Zawr province in the country's east. https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/11/09/579569/US-coalition-airstrikes-Syria-civilians

Politics / How Kidnap Of Umaru Dikko Was Foiled 34 Years Ago! by muticoomage(m): 8:53am On Nov 10, 2018 |
HOW KIDNAP OF UMARU DIKKO WAS FOILED 34 YEARS AGO! Thirty years ago, there was an attempt to kidnap a Nigerian minister, Alhaji Umaru Dikko. Not many young Nigerians knew about that drama that happened in 1984 at Stansted Airport in London where the erstwhile influential Transport Minister was in exile following the military coup that aborted the Alhaji Shehu Shagari goverment on 31 December, 1983. Here is the interesting story about that dramatic episode by Wikipedia: The Dikko Affair was a joint Nigerian-Israeli attempt to kidnap Umaru Dikko, a former Nigerian civilian government minister living in the United Kingdom, in 1984, and secretly transport him back to Nigeria in a diplomatic bag. The kidnapping took place, but the transportation was unsuccessful. After it was foiled, the political fallout seriously damaged relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom for years. Dikko was an influential Transport Minister in the civilian administration of President Shehu Shagari, his brother-in-law. In 1983, the Nigerian government was overthrown in a military coup led by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, and a new military government led by Buhari was established. On his second day in power, Buhari issued a list of former government officials accused of a variety of crimes. Dikko, who topped the list, was accused of embezzling several million dollars in oil profits from the national treasury. Despite strenuous efforts to locate him, Dikko vanished without trace. In actual fact, Dikko moved to the UK and settled in London, and became a vocal critic of the regime in exile. Though Israel, at the time, did not have formal diplomatic relations with Nigeria, there were less visible ties between the two nations. In particular, Nigeria was an important source of oil for Israel, and Israel was a significant supplier of arms to Nigeria. The Israeli national intelligence agency Mossad was recruited to locate and bring Dikko back to Nigeria to stand trial. Mossad sources across Europe were mobilized, but all failed to locate any trace of Dikko. However, Mossad Director-General Nahum Admoni decided that Dikko was probably in London, which had become a haven for Nigerian exiles critical of the new regime. Mossad katsas, accompanied by Nigerian security service agents led by ex-Nigerian Army Major Mohammed Yusufu, travelled to London. The Nigerian team rented an apartment on Cromwell Road and posed as refugees from the new regime. The Mossad agents rented rooms in hotels catering to tourists from Africa, and posed as anti-apartheid activists. Working separately, the two teams moved among the Nigerian expat community in London, gradually narrowing their search to West London, to the area around Hyde Park, where many wealthy Nigerian exiles lived. They combed the electoral registers freely available in the area’s town halls, but found no trace of Dikko. On 30 June 1984, a Mossad agent driving down Queensway spotted Dikko. He parked his car and then tailed Dikko on foot to his house in Porchester Terrace. Admoni was immediately informed, and ordered surveillance on the house. From then on, the house was constantly watched, while the Nigerians, using their London embassy as a base, prepared a kidnapping operation. Meanwhile, the Mossad recruited Dr. Levi-Arie Shapiro, an Israeli doctor who was a consultant anesthetist and director of the intensive care unit at HaSharon Hospital, to fly to London and participate in the operation. Shapiro’s job would be to drug Dikko, and insert an endotracheal tube to keep him from choking on his own vomit whilst being transported in a crate. Late in the evening of 3 July 1984, a Nigeria Airways Boeing 707 arrived at Stansted Airport from Lagos. The aircraft had arrived empty, and the pilot notified the authorities that the plane had arrived to pick up diplomatic baggage from the Nigerian embassy. On board were several Nigerian security guards, who openly identified themselves as such and stated that they were there to protect the baggage. Their presence was reported to Scotland Yard’s Special Branch. The following day, Dikko was kidnapped in front of his home while he was out for a walk and taken away in a van driven by Yusufu. He was then drugged into unconsciousness by Shapiro. However, the abduction was witnessed by Dikko’s secretary, Elizabeth Hayes, who quickly notified the authorities. Dikko and Shapiro were placed in one crate (dimensions 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.5 meters), while Mossad agents Alexander Barak and Felix Abithol occupied a second. However, proper documentation that would have ensured that the cargo could not be inspected was not provided. The crates were not labelled as diplomatic bags, as required by Article 27(4) of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. As a result, customs officials who had received an all-points bulletin alerting them to the kidnapping while the crates were being processed at the airport, were able to open the crates without violating the convention and foil the kidnapping. Dikko was taken to a hospital; he was uninjured. Seventeen men were arrested; four were convicted and sentenced to prison terms of 10 to 14 years: Shapiro, Barak, Abithol, and Yusufu. All four were released after serving between six and eight and a half years, and were quietly deported. In retaliation, two British engineers in Nigeria were arrested and given fourteen-year prison sentences. The Nigerian and Israeli governments never admitted any connection to the incident. Nonetheless, the British government immediately expelled two members of the Nigerian High Commission in London, including the High Commissioner. Diplomatic relations with Nigeria were broken off for two years. The CEO of Nigeria Airways was at one point almost arrested by British police. In the aftermath of the affair, Nigeria filed a formal extradition request for Dikko, but it was refused. The Nigerian government’s war against the previous government’s corruption was also weakened, as the British governments also rejected Nigerian requests to extradite other politicians wanted in Nigeria on corruption charges and living in exile in Britain. Dikko was eventually asked to return to Nigeria. He accepted the invitation and set up a political party.

Politics / Fayose Speaks On #endsars by muticoomage(m): 7:52am On Dec 05, 2017 |
The Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose has waded into the ongoing call for the scrapping of the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS. The governor in a tweet on Monday night said rather than scrapping the police unit, a reform would be a better alternative. “I won’t say #EndSARS. Rather I will say #ReformThePolice such that someone will not sit in Abuja and be in charge of resolving robbery issue in Abakaliki.” he said. The campaign which started Saturday with the hashtag #EndSARS has seen many Nigerians raise allegations of extra-judicial killings, dispossession of properties, and other forms of intimidation against SARS officials. The campaign which became one of the most discussed topics on social media drew the attention of various prominent Nigerians, celebrities and other concerned citizens. The action propelled a directive by the Inspector-General of Police to call for the reorganisation of the police unit. According to a statement issued by police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, Monday, SARS operatives will now be controlled by officers between the ranks of a superintendent of police to chief superintendent of police at state level. The changes according to Mr. Moshood is to take immediate effect. A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday praised Nigerians for rising in unison to openly criticise the alleged cruelty by the SARS. Though the police have debunked some of the allegations levelled against them as untrue, the #EndSARS organisers are planning a nationwide protest as part of the citizen-led initiative to end the widespread impunity in the police.
