A man from the Southwest married a woman from the Southeast, and together they had three children. They lived together until the marriage eventually broke down.

One morning, the woman took all three children to the Southeast, changed their names and denied their father access to them.

The man went to court in Plateau State, where they had been living. The woman was invited to court several times, and eventually, the court ordered that custody of the children be given to the father, while the mother would have access to them.

She did not appeal the judgment.

Instead, she refused to comply with the court order. She was subsequently held in contempt of court, but she still failed to appear before the court and continued evading the process.

The man kept waiting, hoping she would eventually comply. But when it became clear that she was not going to, the police became involved. She was eventually arrested, brought back to Plateau State, and the court order was finally enforced.

She has now been remanded in custody.

What makes this matter particularly worrisome for me is that I was involved in the matter.

I advised the lawyer representing the woman several times: “Tell your client to return the children in compliance with the court order, then appeal the contempt order if she disagrees with it. Or, better still, appear before the court and show that she has purged herself of the contempt.”

Unfortunately, they did not listen.

Russia launches a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile with a strike range of 6,700 kilometers, extendable up to 10,500 km, capable of reaching the entire US territory.

This means the entire US territory falls within the bounds of this missile's range. Russia launched this missile three days after the US CIA chief paid an unannounced visit to Moscow. Reports said the CIA chief, John Ratcliffe's trip to Russia, was not announced and aimed to warn Russian officials against escalating tensions or attacking NATO member countries.

Russia had initially warned European countries, including the United Kingdom, to stop aiding Ukraine with advanced weapons. Russia's president stated that any country aiding Ukraine is 'playing with fire' and will face huge consequences for such hostile actions against Russia.

Now, Russia's missile launch is a clear message to the United States and European countries, look we are not threatening you but we have the capability to act if you guys will not stop helping 'our enemy.

But , Russia putting the entire US territory within their missile range is a great miscalculation of US power. Both countries have enough military capabilities, and a confrontation would be catastrophic, though they will likely avoid it.

Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, said he chose to be neutral in the war between Israel and Iran because Israel is almost a Russian-speaking country, with about two million Russian people living there.

Putin stated during an interview at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that Russia has many factors to consider before making decisions and that Moscow must note that thousands of Russian citizens are happily living in Israel.

Putin said the partnership treaty signed between Russia and Iran does not include any military assistance to Iran or military intervention to help Iran defeat Israel. He noted that Iran's leadership has not requested for military assistance from Russia during the war.

KENYA: Ruto: Foreigners in small shops and hawking must close from Monday -President William Ruto has ordered a crackdown on foreigners running small businesses in Kenya, saying those trades belong to Kenyans.

He issued the directive on Wednesday while meeting MSME traders at State House. The clampdown, he said, starts Monday, 7 September.

“From next week, all traders doing those small businesses should close them,” Ruto said. He was blunt about who Kenya is trying to attract: investors, not hawkers. “We have not improved investor confidence for hawkers to come to Kenya.”

He pointed to street hawking and small retail shops including people selling duvets and similar goods. “It cannot be that a person comes from China or elsewhere to be a hawker or open a small shop.” Traders in the room cheered.

Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui has been told to start the exercise as soon as he returns from Addis Ababa. Ruto said government will not sit and wait for Parliament to pass a new law first. Action will be administrative.

A Local Content Bill already before Parliament would reserve some businesses for Kenyans. Ruto asked traders to help tighten it so foreigners cannot slip into petty trade. Kenya, he said, is still open to big investment not to foreigners competing with local hawkers and kiosk owners.

The complaint is not new. Kenyan traders have for months said Chinese nationals and traders from neighbouring countries have moved into informal retail in places like Gikomba, Muthurwa and Marikiti. Politicians have raised the same issue. Tanzania has already restricted foreigners in some small trades, and Kenya’s move could complicate regional business ties.

What is still unclear: exactly which businesses fall under the order, which agencies will enforce it, whether East African Community citizens get different treatment, and what happens if someone refuses to close.

For now the message from State House is simple. From Monday, foreigners in hawking and small shops are expected to shut down or face action.

TRAGEDY IN IBOGUN: Shepherd and Wife Die Hours Apart After Domestic Dispute

Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya and his wife, Adenike, reportedly died in separate incidents following an overnight domestic altercation in Akiode Ibogun, with police authorities now involved in the case.

A tragic incident has thrown the Akiode Ibogun community in Ogun State into mourning following the deaths of a Celestial Church of Christ shepherd and his wife in the early hours of Monday, August 31, 2026.

According to information from community sources, Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya, Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Iri Orun Parish, was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, Adenike Odukoya, at their residence at about 3:00 a.m.

The dispute reportedly became violent, during which Mrs. Odukoya sustained serious head injuries and subsequently became unconscious. Their son reportedly raised an alarm, prompting neighbours and members of the Community Development Association to intervene.

Mrs. Odukoya was later confirmed dead and was reportedly buried at the family residence at about 2:00 p.m. the same day.

In a separate but connected development, Evangelist Odukoya was reportedly found dead along the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway around Iyana Coker, Ifo, several hours later.

Community sources alleged that after leaving Ibogun, the shepherd travelled towards Ifo and deliberately ran into the path of an oncoming fully loaded Dangote cement truck. He reportedly died at the scene after being struck by the vehicle.

However, the circumstances surrounding his death, including the allegation that it was deliberate, have not been independently established and should be treated as an allegation pending official findings.

The Nigeria Police Force has reportedly commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding both deaths.

The incident has left residents shocked, with the community awaiting further clarification from the authorities as investigations continue.
