damagepbuh: D dubiousness of Ibos in Onitsha doesnt go past dis country but d yahoo yahoo of yorubas is notable worldwide dat is wat i meant. Talk oof corruption, Abacha, Dasuki, Yakubu, hope they are all ibos. Nigeria was internationally recognized as a dangerous countrt to travel hope ibos are also responsible. Now go bak to my post and read carefully, u will understand dat wat am saying is dat Hausas Ibos and Yorubas all contribute meaningfully to d defamation of d name of nigeria internationally. So no tribe shud pretend as if they dont contribute to soiling d name of dis country ...you are still saying thesame thing, before bokoharam western countries still caution there people coming to nigeria...u talk of abacha what of ur governors, ur senators, ur ministers, ur perm secretaries in the ministry, the common man trying the outsmart others, is that not being dubious and corrupt. All these people also made nigeria have a bad name, its not just abacha or ibb its everyone.nigeria is very dangerous to travel to and one very major reason is kidnapping which is very popular in the east and very absent in the north. Some igbos hardly come back home because of this. And u say being dubious only happens within the country, who told u so.You think people dont behave thesame way they behave in nigeria when they travel overseas. What of the fake drugs that we were experts in doing, u think foreigners never knew about that....your stereotyping is wrong..... |

And i hope it was for those things u mentioned dat nigeria was declared unsafe ...guy no dey deceive urself.....i dont know what u mean. You sell drugs and do 419 u no call am dubious and also what do u mean that hausa are the only ones corrupt....everyone is, infact the southerner is worst.Am igbo and lets be sincere, the nigerians overseas in china, US, india, brazil etc more than 70 percent are southerners and most are from the east.....the fear of those foreigners outside toward nigerians is because of what they see and hear us do when we re abroad/overseas.wether dubious, drug or corrupt all na thesame thing....and ur stereotyping no hold water, is very untrue.... |

southpole: Don't blame Luggard, it seems you DONT read. when the issue of indepence came up in 1958 d North made it very clear that they don't want to be part of Nigeria, it was your kinsman Nnamdi Azikiwe that championed the campaign that the north must be part of Nigeria. Even when the North said it was not ready for independence the south said it was going to wait for the north that is why Nigeria got her independence in 1960 not 1958 as earlier wanted. Go and read the book titled " there was a country" read between page 50 to 55. the book was written by your kinsman Chinua Achebe. princejenks: see, each region in the country have their peculiar needs, lumping up regions together in this feeding bottle federalism we are practising in this country and forcing everyone to move at the same rate has not worked and won't work in the foreseeable future cos some regions would be left behind no matter how they try to stifle the progressive ones. Now to the north, its peculiar need right now is education, previous leaders from that region ,for whatever reasons, felt that to keep the people there under their tight grip, they must be denied education. Just check wot Awo did for the west,he gave them a headstart by giving his region free education, same with zik but the civil war drove the east behind but in the last 20 years, due to concerted efforts, the east has caught up and even overtaking others in education;you can check the results of major exams being written in this country to know which region is topping. Even the likes of Emir Sanusi and governor Tambuwal of sokoto have seen the light and have been encouraging their people to embrace western education to fill the obvious gap their lack of it has caused the region as a whole. To answer your question directly, the vices you mentioned are as a result of bad governance cos if government is doing its work well through its organs,it would have curtailed such vices to the barest minimum cos the number of people engaged in it is far less than the overall population so your analogy here is off cos in the north, the reverse is the case, too many uneducated folks with less skills is a disaster in waiting for manipulative hands |

dayowunmi: Am not saying we have to dress like the whites, i only cited that as an illustration. What am saying is, I don't see the need why dressing should be censured in an adult environment. Part of education also entails being able to deal and relate with people of different ideology and behaviors. Am sure that is part of education too isn't it? I may not like a person's dressing or beliefs for example, that however does not mean i agitate that his dressing or beliefs be outlawed. Variety is the spice of life. What kind of school is it where everyone dress similarly! Although not with uniforms but similar attires. Also, part of my grouse with this dress code thingy is this; had it been true, then I can say that it potentially gives powers to pervert lecturers to victimize students who don't cower to their requests. The circular that was widely circulated on social media directed that students should not wear tight fitting clothes. But what defines tight fitting? Does wearing fitted t-shirts fall in this category? Or jeans? Any lecturer can simply cite any of the points under the so called code and send a student out of his class arbitrarily. I still stand by my opinion sir, education although teaches morals but it also should teach diversity as well. A university committee out to be where people can be themselves, a heterogeneous community and not a homogeneous one. Also this issue of indescent dressing seem exaggerated as well. Although i don't know Unilag as such, i graduated from great ife few years back and there wasn't a helluva scantily dressed students around back then. ...i understand u...we re even |

dayowunmi: I thought as much too. Don't see any reason why a federal university will be giving options on what students can wear or not wear. It's not a secondary school now neither is it a religious body owned school. If you can't deal with people dressing indescently when you eventually travel out someday and you come across a culture where women wear ridiculous dresses, what will you now do? ...so because people dress anyhow overseas that why we should accomodate any kind of dressing, same way we should accept homosexuality since it is very popular in the western world. The last time i checked we hv a culture and morals that is reflected in all part of our society and we were brought up with those too....Westernization is not civilization, the whites dont comform to our standards then why do the reverse.I see no reason why a school wether gov or private should not tell a student how to dress and been able to dress moderately. For education is not just book but good morals too and u in school to learn both.Thats why in ur degree certificate it is stated "having found worthy of character and learning"....character came first. There shouldnt be strict or controlling laws for its a university but they can moderate and regulate things are..... |

In the midst of a sagging economy and and cloud of uncertainty, they support their own irrespective of the real issue at stake. They too are suffering yet stick to Buhari's economy plan. They are cashing into the agricultural policy of the FG and guess what? With #500 to $1, government is exporting agricultural produce to other countries to their advantage.
