Deckline:I don't lack comprehension. Showing compassion is a key tenet of Christian scripture, especially in the NT, as I just illustrated with the example I gave you. If the person genuinely respects you as an individual, then them being an atheist shouldn't bother you. Being a non-believer isn't a contagious disease you can get any more than being a believer is. |
Deckline:The bible also says if you don't have love, all the other things you have in life are a waste. I'd recommend you read 1 Corinthians 13. |
Mikefrik:Abeg, let's see here... Being a Christian is not the only way to be spiritual. There are thousands of religions and ways to approach the Divine if you're a theist. Secondly, having a sex drive is a perfectly natural part of your life as a human. The only scripture that people use to claim masturbation is a sin actually refers to an event in which a person refused to obey the command YHWH had given them to help one of their brothers have an heir; it had nothing to do with the act itself being bad. That said, people change and evolve. You thinking or believing differently is you embracing the intelligence - supposing for sake of argument a Divine exists - you were given by the Creator you believe in. It's not something meant to be wasted trying to follow everything other people say because their experiences, while sometimes similar, are not yours. You're your own person. Sometimes that means finding other religious paths that speak to you and the things you need in your life. Other times, it means (*heathenish grin*) embracing skepticism so that you aren't bogged down by the trappings of dogma. It's still not the end of your journey though. Even among us atheists and non-religious folks, there's diversity. Some remove all elements of spirituality from their lives; others keep a few things. The most important takeaway is that this is your life, and if you truly believe in an Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, and Omnibenevolent deity, then It knew you'd end up here, and will likely understand whatever choice you make regarding this. Don't limit yourself. |
Re: OP, I don't answer and ignore them. They're about as bad as the Sakawas who try to spam my inbox. |
budaatum:False. The only word out of these that is always capitalized is Taiwan. Re: the OP; I honestly find it irrelevant whether or not "God" is capitalized. Doesn't stand as proof that one exists at all. I typically say YHWH though when referring to the Christian deity -other than the Christ and Holy Spirit, that is. I'm also pretty sure if atheists "feared" God we'd be doing the opposite. |
HeWrites:If they are not broken-hearted by him lightening the punishments of pedophile priests than they had their hearts in the wrong place. |
Flavian theory is so fundamentally flawed that it's been soundly debunked by actual skeptics like Richard Carrier. Those folks clearly have little understanding of the literature and culture of that time and make it harder for Christ Mythicism to be seen as a legitimate scholarly position. Can we actually support the work of skeptics versed and experienced in the field rather than random youtubers? |
Earthbound:I always go with the lump-sum, so cash. |
It's a beautiful picture. Very well done. |
iamwhat:There's literally no archaeological evidence of the Exodus ever happening. None of the ancient records or primary sources ever mention any references to Israelites being freed and/or escaping the land via miracles nor any natural disasters of the sort described. The story contradicts established fact. |
allenbaker5:Based on most of the scriptures, especially Ezekiel 23, they were into porn as well. |
