Even though it’s uncommon, some people prefer to live underground, literary. It’s an interesting alternative to regular homes and, whether it’s a decision based on style, personal preferences and the wish to recreate an image from a movie, living in any of these homes must be unique. You will be surprised to see how similar these homes are to those almost everyone has gotten used with. 1. An underground eco home by Make Architects. Designed by Make Architectsfor British football star Gary Neville, this structure manages to combine beauty with functionality in a new and unique way. The residence covers nearly 8,000 square feet but not in the way you would expect it to. It’s a one-story structure that was built underground. One of the main goals when designing the residence was to create something that would keep energy consumption to a minimum and that would be an eco-friendly version of a standard home. The house was built with locally-sourced materials and using traditional building methods and a ground source heat pump provides heating while the photovoltaic panels and the on-site wind turbine generates renewable energy. The house is almost entirely built into the hillside and this allows it to seamlessly integrate into the surroundings. The layout resembles a flower with rooms instead of petals, all organized around a central kitchen. The comparison is not random as the house also has a glowing floral impression on the landscape when lit at night. It’s both interesting and beautiful to see how nature and artificial work combine in this project and result in a harmonious creation.

9 Nigerian students in Ukraine were earlier this week, kidnapped in the Ukrainian city of Lugansk. Ukrainian news agenciessay militants abducted the Nigerian students on Monday and have been holding them as prisoners at an occupied government security building. The city is deep inside rebel- held territory, close to the Russian border. Colonel Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, on Wednesday told a news conference that negotiations are underway to free the abducted Nigerian students. That people with experience conducting negotiations were now making contact with what he called "the terrorists." Adding that Ukrainian officials hoped the talks would end "successfully in the near future." Separatists seeking greater autonomy have been waging a bloody battle in eastern Ukraine against the government. http://www.lailasblog.com/2014/07/9-nigerian-students-kidnapped-in-ukraine.html |

A 12-year-old Florida boy was arrested for the second time in a month after he took a school bus for a joyride. During his unsanctioned trip back in June, Michael Propst took a Bay District school bus to Walmart. The second theft occurred less than 24 hours after Propst made a court appearance for taking the first bus. Parker police had a sense of déjà vu after finding out about the missing bus. “They had a bus stopped with a juvenile driver,” Parker Police Chief Charles Sweatt told WMBB. “Our initial reaction was ‘oh no, not again.’” In order to get the bus this time, Propst stole a car from his aunt and took it to Parker Elementary. After taking the bus, he drove it for more than two hours to Franklin County. “When we were advised that it was the same juvenile driving the bus that had been responsible for the last bus theft from Parker we said ‘No way,’” Sweatt said. An officer returned Propst to Bay County after he was picked up. “He’s not unruly or resists arrest or anything of that nature from what I understand,” said Sweatt. “He’s just into stealing vehicles.” http://www.informationng.com/2014/07/12-year-old-boy-steals-school-bus-for-the-second-time-in-a-month.html |

Inside her recently released autobiographyMãe Coragem(which translates to ‘Mother Courage’) , mother of Critiano Ronaldo, Dolores Aveiro, claimed that she attempted to abort him when she was pregnant by ‘drinking warm beer’ and ‘running until she dropped’ Although she did not give any reason for wanting to abort her unborn child, Dolores said she had approached her doctor to carry out the abortion but he didn’t agree with it and refused to do it. She then resorted to doing it herself by drinking warm beer and running with the hope that she would lose the pregnancy. “I wanted to abort but the doctor didn’t support my decision,” she wrote in her autobiography. Speaking at the launch of the autobiography in Lisbon yesterday, Dolores said that Ronaldo already knew about his past and even joked about it. ““He told me when he found out, ‘Look mum, you wanted to abort me and now I’m the one who’s pulling the purse-strings in the house,’” she said.. 10. Foxes With the exception of the tiny Fennec fox, I don't recommend keeping Arctic or Red foxes as pets. They can become very tame, but never fully trustworthy and are especially dangerous around children. They are far from being domesticated. They also have a musky odor that is far worse than a ferret's. They have teeth like any other canine and if scared they may resort to their wild instincts and cause you or someone else harm. Most states will destroy a pet fox if a bite is reported because there is no vaccination protocol.
9. Alligators and Crocodiles Think these reptiles look cute and harmless as babies? That won’t last long. The American Alligator can reach over 14 feet in length and kill prey as large as cattle. Most homes in the US cannot accommodate such a large predator. These animals can cause serious infections from bites, causing limb amputations, knock you down with a whip of their tail while it breaks your legs, and even kill you with their bite force of around 2000 pounds.
8. Kinkajous Also in the raccoonfamily, the kinkajou has grown in popularity in recent years. Smaller then its coati cousin, a kinkajouonly reaches seven pounds but still has very sharp teeth and a high activity level. They are also nocturnal creatures and known to be aggressive on occasion. They especially do not like being awoken during the day, and can emit quite a scream and attack by clawing and biting their owners.
7. Wolves and Coyotes There are reasons why we domesticated dogs. Their wolf and coyote ancestors were too wild to live alongside humans. Wolves and coyotes are still wild. They act on their instincts. They hunt when they are hungry, play when they want to, and sleep the rest of the day. If they feel threatened, they will attack. They can kill a full-grown moose, and sense the sickest animal in a herd, even when that animal shows no symptoms. Like large cats and bears, they are far from domesticated, and cannot be trusted. Wolfdogshave also grown in popularity as pets but are not much different from their pure wolf cousins, therefore, they too should be avoided.
6. Bats What carries Rabies and SARS, has sharp teeth, sleeps all day, and flies all night? Bats. I shouldn’t have to say anything more than that. The truth is, bats are extremely cute and intriguing, but a hands-off approach is best. There is the possibility of zoonotic disease, plus no realistic way to care for a bat in your home. They can live over 30 years, hibernate for months in colder climates, and eat insects, fruit or blood at night. These little guys are better left outside. Don't bring one of these cute critters into your home intentionally.
5. Coatis The coati (pronounced ko-wot-ee) is a member of the raccoonfamily. Originally from South America, these omnivores require a very large enclosure to roam about. They are extremely active and difficult to train. They have 38-40 sharp teeth, forage for their food, and require a lot of mental stimulation. Needless to say, even though they are kept as pets, they are still very much wild animals that deliver a pretty nasty bite.
4. Bears Despite the fact that bears can weigh over 1500 pounds full grown, people still feel they are like cute and cuddly teddy bears. Bear cubs are appealing for many reasons, but they don’t stay small for long. They will tower over you when they stand on their hind legs, and can knock you over, or even kill you, with a swift blow of their paw. Are they trainable? Perhaps. Trustworthy, I think not.
3. Venomous Snakes These snakes could kill you with a single bite, and there is most likely no anti-venom close enough to help you. Some cobras can also cause immense pain and blindness just by spitting their venom into your eyes! There are plenty of pet snakes available that do not produce venom, so stick with the safer species. Extreme safety measures must be taken if kept in a home, and if they do escape, you are endangering the lives of all your neighbors.
2. Large Cats Cougars, lions, tigers, and leopards make up the majority of large catskept as pets. They are strong and dangerous, to say the least. Think you can just de-clawthem like you did your little housecat, Fluffy? Think again. De-clawing removes the entire last bone in each toe. If you remove the tips of the toes of a large cat, they are unable to properly walk because of their size, and become paralyzed when done incorrectly. Plus, large cats like tigers kill their prey by biting their throats, not by clawing them to death. And if the teeth don’t kill you, their crushing jaw pressure will.

With the variety of animals available to potential pet owners, one may have a hard time deciding which one is best for them. There are a number of animals that can be a great addition to your household, but plenty more that should only be kept under special circumstances, if at all. There are plenty of other kinds of animals that would make much better pets, and be far less dangerous to care for. Consider the following a list of 10 bad pets. 1. Primates Lemurs, monkeys, chimpanzees, and baboons all fall into this primate category. They are cute and “child like”, but are not a substitute for human babies. Sure they are treated like babies with their owners putting them in diapers and strollers, but they also act like babies. Permanently. If they get angry they scream and throw a tantrum. But the biggest problem with pet monkeysis that they may go on a rampage without warningsince they have no moral conscience, or bite their owners. This is especially scary given the fact that they can transmit diseases like Hepatitis A and HIV-1, the virus that causes AIDS.

Here are some of the manners rules that are most commonly broken: 1.Forgetting to introduce people. When you are with two or more people who don't know each other, you should introduce them. If you aren't sure of someone's name, be honest about it and ask for it. It might be momentarily embarrassing, but not as much as saying the wrong name. 2.Taking a call on your cell phone when you are at the cash register. Doing this is not only rude you'll hold up the line and perhaps miss something important that the cashier needs to tell you. 3.Forgetting about the presence of service people. When you dine out, have repairs done on the house, or visit the hairdresser, remember your manners. Even if you're deep in conversation with the person you're dining with, don't ignore the server when she arrives at your table. If you need a few more minutes to make a decision, let her know. While it's fine to go about your business while the plumber is fixing your sink, be nearby to answer questions. The customer next to you at the hair salon might be extremely interesting and fun to chat with, but remember that unless you communicate with your hairdresser, you won't get the style you want. 4.Yelling at the children in public. Parents who lose their tempers out in public need to spend more time disciplining their children in private. This includes teaching them manners and letting them know beforehand what the consequences will be for bad behavior. 5.Boasting about anything. Bragging comes natural to most people, especially when they feel one-upped by others. Just remember that boasting is rude and inconsiderate, no matter how fast your cool new car can take you from zero to eighty. 6.Coughing or sneezing on others. If you don't feel well, stay home. You don't need to be spreading cold and flugerms just because you feel entitled to be out and about. 7.Blatantly eavesdropping. Sure, it's fun to listen in on other people's conversations, but how would you feel if someone else did that to you? Give people space, and if you can't, try to tune them out. There's some stuff you just don't need to know. 8.Gagging your coworkers and friends with fragrance. That may be your favorite perfume, but not everyone else will feel the same way. In fact, some people are deathly allergic to fragrance. When you work in close proximity to others, refrain from applying extra fragrance that can make your coworkers sick. This also applies to times when you know you'll be in any crowded place. 9.Being bossy. Your friend or sister might have told you a problem that you know how to fix in your sleep, but don't offer advice unless you're asked for it. Telling other people what to do is annoying and might send people walking a wide berth around you. 10.Hogging equipment at the gym. Interval training is a great way to stay in shape, but don't take up three pieces of equipment when other people are waiting in line. Step aside and let someone else work out. 11.Blocking traffic in a public place. When you spot a long-lost friend at the mall, pull her to the side to catch up. Standing in the middle of the traffic pattern will get you some dirty looks and may even cause injury if someone isn't aware that you've stopped. 12.Being indecisive about an RSVP. If you're not sure you'll be able to attend someone's dinner party or other event, be open and honest. If weeks or days go by and you still don't know, send your regrets so the person can invite someone else in your place. |

Funke Akindele has been off the social scene for a while now and the only reason for that is that she has been moving from one movie location to another what with the many scripts she is being offered. Notebook manufacturer Magnus Ferreus recently launched a quirky new product – the Onion Note. True to its name, the notebook will make you cry every time you scribble something in it. Thankfully, it doesn’t stink like an onion, it only has the same effect as cutting one. The pages of the Onion Note have been treated with allyl propyl compounds – the same ones found in onion oil, which are responsible for bringing people to tears. You don’t have to chop up the pages for the oil to work, though. The heat caused by the friction of writing on the page will evaporate the compounds, releasing tear-inducing gas into your face. According to Thomas, the CEO of Magnus Ferreus, we all spend a lot of time writing in notebooks, but we’ve never been emotionally moved by them. So he wanted to change that by introducing a revolutionary product we could use to ‘make notes in a dramatic way’. And what better way to do that than with an onion? He also pointed out that the notebook uses special paper that’s only 0.024 mm thick. “The Onion Note, it breaks new ground,” he said. “And we promise it will bring you a completely new sensation.” The ads for Onion Note are really quite hilarious. One of them shows a young boy bursting into tears as soon as he puts pencil to paper. It appears as though he’s going to spill his guts to the notebook, the way he’s bawling, but he only ends up writing: ‘NY is a big city’. Another woman seems to be scribbling a deeply profound message in Japanese, while weeping profusely. But what she is actually writing is ‘There’s pudding in the refrigerator’. I can think of a hundred uses for the Onion Note – it’s probably the best thing to get you out of class, or to make people believe that you’re an amazing writer penning a tragic story. Or, you could play pranks – just camouflage the cover, gift it to someone and watch them get flummoxed as the waterworks begin! Pricing and availability date for the Onion Note are yet to be announced, but it looks like it will be hitting Japan first, as that’s where it was first showcased. http://www.informationng.com/2014/07/emotional-onion-notebook-makes-you-cry-when-you-write-in-it.html

Barcelona made the club’s record signing when they fulfilled the buyout clause in Luis Suarez’s contract despite a four-month ban hanging over the footballer’s career. While many believe the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and the new guy would devastate any defence in Europe and bring the Catalan club back to winning ways, I doubt if this will happen. The three players are fantastic and they can influence the outcome of any match with mesmerising skills and eye for goal, but not many great players have been successful playing alongside Messi at Barcelona. Zlatan Ibrahimovic cost Barcelona €69.5 million but he could not replicate his superb form that has made him very important at Ajax, Juventus and Inter Milan. He even claimed the club manager had not spoken to him for 5 months when he played his last game for Barcelona on August 25. In an autobiography in 2011, Ibra said that things went downhill for him at Barca because Messi asked to change position. “It was a childhood dream and I was walking on air,” said Ibrahimovic. “It started well but then Messi started to talk. “He wanted to play in the middle, not on the wing, so the system changed from 4-3-3 to 4-5-1. I was sacrificed and no longer had the freedom on the pitch I need to succeed.” David Villa came in and had a similar challenge, Messi was the golden boy and he would play wherever he liked. So went Villa’s career at Barcelona like Thierry Henry before him. Alexis Sanchez was another victim, but after showing his class at the just concluded World Cup, Arsenal came to save him. Suarez would have weighed his options very well and would have stalled the move for a call from Real Madrid, but his misdemeanor at the World Cup only meant no team without a real striker crisis would want him. Blame the coaches for not having the guts to play Messi where they think it’s best for the team. Although it played out fine for Pep Guardiola and Tito Villanova, but Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino beared the brunt as Barcelona looked so ordinary, finishing the season without a single trophy just because Lionel Messi didn’t play well. Where were the Pedros, Alexis Sanchez and free-scoring midfielders like Cesc Fabregas? They have become ordinary over a run of games having to play the way Messi dictates. Now Suarez has gotten the number 9 at Camp Nou, but he may never play as such. The freedom he had at Anfield that made him lift Liverpool back to reckoning may not be there at Barcelona and this will make his career suffer like Neymar’s. The Brazilian carries his country because he had the freedom to play and his absence was evident after his injury forced him out of some crucial games at the World Cup, with the Samba boys finishing fourth at mundial. No team will give three players freedom to play at a time, but maybe there would have been a way out if Messi never dictates everything, but Luis Enrique is another former Barca player, who is likely going to preserve the Messi adoration. If Real Madrid had made play all about Cristiano Ronaldo, maybe Atletico Madrid would have won the Champions League. But those crucial matches were never about Ronaldo last season and Angel Di Maria and Gareth Bale shone and helped the Madrid club to two titles. It’s high time Barcelona learnt. Messi is never going back to his form two years ago. He will probably be more effective if the games stop being all about him and Neymar can work with Suarez to bring back trophies to Camp Nou. Messi has become a cancer at Barcelona; he is why many great players have not succeeded there. Luis Enrique, please take note. |

According to a new study published just yesterday, guys, sleeping next to your baby puts them at a dangerously high risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome! Researchers found out that among the 8,207 sleep-related infant deaths in the past eight years in the U.S: *.70per cent occurred in babies who were sharing a bed at the time, either with a parent or an object like a blanket or pillow. *.And that the cause of death of infants between the ages of 4 months and 1 year was more likely to be related to blankets or stuffed animals. Pediatrician Rachel Moon, an author of the study, told the Huffington Post: 'Bed-sharing for 0 to four-month-old babies is extremely risky. Infants at this age do notyet have the motor ability or strength to move their head or reposition their body when in an asphyxiating environment, such as when another person rolls over or moves.' Some parents tout the benefits of bed-sharing, that it strengthens the bond between you and your child. But Dr Moon says the dangers far outweigh the advantages: 'The risk of infant death if you fall asleep with your baby is high, particularly in the first few months of life. It is not a risk that I would want to take with my child. I sha had my kids by my side all through. What's your experience, dearies?http://www.lailasblog.com/2014/07/for-new-mummies-in-da-house-doctors-say.html |
