NothingDoMe: Yearly please especially if you live in Warri. The soot, although now reduced thanks to "government", was a nuisance. Panels suffered from reduced efficiency until cleaned. My state has no soot. The hamattan though wanted to play games but rain fell twice this year already so no need to clean. Oddly, I have never had cause to clean my panels sha. Somehow rain will fall |

fortunejum: If you go through his write up again, you will see that he said he uses them in the afternoon, with means direct current from the solar. I have 1.5kva inverter (Luminous hybrid) and 1000 w panel (250w per1), (2) 100a batteries I use it with my freezer ONLY in the afternoon and TV, dstv and 7 bulbs (5w) from 6.30pm to 10pm every day. As I am writing now, my freezer is very chilled. It works perfectly. You have time oo. Thing is once you understand load shedding, everything becomes easy. When I said I sometimes use my iron, it is in extreme situations and I have done it just twice in 2 years. For the AC, only when the sun is high and it takes no stress in the battery |

amstamon: Pls boss, I'm a novice on this solar thing. what do they meant by distilled water? Is it regular bottle water or a special water I'll have to buy for the batteries. And if so, pls how much do they sell this water and how many littre does a battery uses and how long would it last? Thank boss I don't know how much it is sold for. I have never bought because my installer supplies me for free (I bring him customers without a commission so he uses that to say thanks) |

NothingDoMe: No one in my house respects solar power shedding. I bought timer for the equipments now. I stay alone so load shedding is a thing. My AC has been on since 10am and I am about to turn it off. I will leave the fridge and freezer on until 5. Then at 6, I will turn the whole unit off. I will turn it back on by 8:30 I just saw the Timbers on Jumia. I don't need then for now. Maybe if there is a Mrs that won't hear word, I will get the timers |

ModCaller: Dry cell lasts about a year, not 2 years. After 1 year, it will start draining very fast. What used to last for 10 hours will start lasting for 2 hours. The only advantage is that it doesn't need maintenance.
You should have bought wet cell battery for the same price. That one needs regular topping of distilled water Where do you people get your alternate facts from. As long as you do not abuse your batteries and try to make sure you do not discharge them up to zero, they will last. The one I used before, I sold to a friend and he is still using them. This is the third year they have been in use |

tonididdy: Lol lad trust me, quit using the Ac and regulate the deep freezer usage and Never I mean Never ever use the pressing iron again. I guess I should advice you not to use your solar for your borehole
Yes you have to maintain those your batt3, dey are not for amateur users. It has a gauge on it. You need to refill with 100% distilled water when the gauge is low. Lmaooo. Dude, quit trying to preach to the choir. If your panels generate 2,400 watts and your batteries are full at high noon, you can use your devices as long as they do not cumulatively get close to 2,000 watts since the power is not drawn from the batteries unless there is a sudden cloud cover. My system that has never I mean never gone below 40% is what you are lecturing me how to use. Funny And as for distilled water, na you go teach me na |

tonididdy: Lol I’ve over 6years solar owner experience And over 2years installation experience
I’m telling you when your battery will die if you don’t change your usuage. Do you even know you have to regularly maintain this type of batt3 u’ve ? No, I dont. I just use them continually for two years. Uncle Sodiq |

tonididdy: Lol you are totally ruining your system. 2 batteries is not sufficient for any AC let alone pressing iron At this usuage your solar will not last a year, 2 at most Seems you miss where I don't use the AC at night and the fact that I have 8 panels mean I don't draw Power from the battery in the afternoon. |

When you gobinverter, you have to buy appliances by the power ratings. Those 100 or 60 watts bulbs have to go. I use the 5 watts bulbs now
Inverter AC, Refrigerator and freezer.
I have about 5 fans all low energy(60 watts).
Even my microwave is inverter type so you don't drain all the power you have |

Your setup is similar what I used until 2021.
4 320w panels 2.5 KVA inverter and 40A charge controller. 2 dry cell 200amps batteries It served me well, I used my freezer with it and all the appliances.
Cost: About 650,000 but this was just before lockdown. The week before lockdown
But in 2021, I got an AC and decided to improve on my existing system so I let go the inverter, batteries and charge controller then added more panelspp
Now I run a 5 KVA inverter, 8 320w panels, 60a charge controller and 2 200amps flooded batteries.
It serves the whole flat, freezer, fridge, AC and microwave (all in the afternoon) by 5 I turn it all off and stick to just fans, TV and light bulbs and so.
Oh, I also use mine with my pressing iron but in the afternoon and in extreme conditions
Cost: I really can't say cos everything has gone up now But then the inverter cost 196k Each panel (first 4 35k each, last 4, 65k each) Batteries 140k each Charge controller 100,000 Rack 20k Installation, fuse box etc 65k I have cables at home.
Although I turn off my whole system by 6pm and turn it back on by 8:30 (just cos I might need to get air outside or something)
But when I travel, I leave the unit on and put just the freezer on it. And I can actually go off-grid completely
Even my sugar mummy sponsors get jealous
First picture is my new system. Second is my old systen
