It was gathered from an inside source that a phone call
conversation went on between one of the AMACOMS and
Dr.Chris Piwunan, chairman of ASUU University of Jos
chapter. According to the phone call, it reveals that the
lecturers have set to go on a 42day strike.
According to the ASUU chairman, the last time ASUU went
on this kind of leave was in 2007 when a professor
slumped in class and that there is nothing new, adding that
it's a university tradition.
With this information he said that the leave commences
with immediate effect today 3rd May, 2016.
If calculations are right, the University of Jos will be
resuming on the 27th June to be precise, counting from 42
working days from today. Students are hereby advised to
keep themselves busy and utilize the break pending when
the break over.
Students of the university of Jos went on social media to
condemn the action saying the lecturers are insensitive to
the plight of the students and are keeping them in the
school for so long,stressing that they are tired of the
various tactics of delay employed by ASUU and the
Management.
Efforts to reach the SUG president for his comments proved
abortive as his line was switched off

The Governing Council of the University of Jos has
approved the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor for
the University.
He is Prof. Sebastian Maimako who is the Dean,
Faculty of Management Sciences of the University.
In a statement issued in Jos and signed by Abdullahi
Abdullahi, the institution’s Principal Assistant Registrar,
Information and Publications, said the new VC’s choice
followed recommendation by the Selection Board at its
Special Meeting held on Friday 22nd April, 2016.
His appointment which is for a single term of five years
takes effect from 23rd June, 2016.
A Professor of Accounting and Finance, Sebastian
Maimako has held several administrative positions in
the University including Dean, Faculty of Management
Sciences, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management
Sciences, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences,
Head, Acting Head, Department of Management
Sciences, all in the University of Jos.
