Hello house, I am glad to announce to you lovely people that I gained a lot from this forum. A friend referred me this forum to me Tho and I took my time to go through all the pages here. Anyways in the spirit of giving back lol... I had my interview on the 2nd of August in lagos, 6:30 am, I was 33weeks. I was the first person on the queue and I was the first person to be interviewed. My interview went like this.... Me: Good morning (with a smile). VO: Good morning, passport please. (passed my passport) VO: Why are you going to the U.S.? Me: Childbirth. VO: oh! Where? Me: Houston,Texas. VO: Pass me all your documents. (Then I passed my doctor's correspondence, receipt from Dr Dama stating the amount I have paid, hospitals documents and receipts, accommodation receipt from Sojurbanliving, budget sheet, statement of account, maternity leave letter, husband's sponsorship letter, and marriage certificate). She went through everything. VO: How did you find out about this doctor? Me: A colleague of mine referred him to me that he's really good and he also delivered his wife's and everything seemed perfect. So I went online, I got his number, called him. I was sent an email informed about the fees and what I needed to do and know. Vo: ok, how much will this trip cost you Me: About 16,000 dollars equivalent to 'so so so' in naira(I said the amount then because dollar was 360 then). VO: What do you do? Me: I work for 'Bla Bla bla investments' as the 'bla bla bla' , I earn 'bla bla bla' but my husband is the main sponsor of the trip. Vo: oh, I see. What does your husband do? Me: He's the ceo of 'bla bla bla' with the capacity of 'bla bla bla' staffs, it's located at 'bla bla bla' VO: (typing and going through the documents) Okay, make sure you pay up your balance. me: Yes ma'am Vo: Pick up your visa in 3 days time (then she gave me the white paper and my documents. I was happy ehn like really I got the white paper. Yaay! I flew airfrance/klm 3weeks and 2days after @36weeks ; Lagos-Amsterdam-Houston, my poe was houston. I had enough background knowledge on how it's gonna be from what I read here. When we got to IAH, I entered the restroom to clean my face and look a bit fresh U kno as a fine geh. Cbp: (tries calling my name) or didn't I pronounce it right? Me : I'll give you 4/10 on the pronunciation. (We both chuckled) Cbp: Okay, so why are you in houston? Me: Childbirth. Cbp: Where exactly are you going to? Me: Sugar land Cbp: Where will you be staying? And how long will you be staying for? Me: I already sorted my accommodation with s Spring of Joy Urban Living and I have made payment. I have a letter stating that and the address of where I will be staying. I will be staying for two months. Cbp: Oh let's see, have you contacted any doctor? Me: oh yes! Dr Dama Ziwortin and I have also sorted the bills. Cbp: Okay, do you have receipts? Me: Yes. (passed him all the receipts including the hospital's, with the budget sheet stating how much I have paid and the balance to be paid) Cbp: So, how do you intend to pay the rest? Me: Well, I am prepared for that. I have 5k cash with me and I have a debit card worth 12k dollars incase of emergency. Cbp: Where is your husband? Is he coming later? Me: He's in Nigeria. Well, I am not sure for now if he will be coming or not. That will depend on his work schedules and all. Cbp: Is this your first ? Me: Yes (blushing). Cbp: How will you cope alone? Me: Trust me, I will *winks*. Cbp: (smiles) Make sure you don't take Medicaid , Me: Naaah, I won't. Cbp: I am telling you this just incase you insist you were not told about it. So, I am telling you now. Besides, it will affect your next visit. Do make sure you keep all your receipts. (then he stamped me in) Cbp: Enjoy your stay maam . Me: Thanks (with a broad smile) No secondary inspection, he didn't even count my money, no agric, I brought in all my food stuff. *big smile* And yes, 'no fit to fly' was asked all through the trip. Thanks to you guys (most especially the professors in the house) for all the information and for your sharing spirit, YOU GuYS ROCk!!! , God bless you all abundantly...*mwah* sorry for the long story *biko* |

thanks baby Virtuousdiva: Go to www.us-passport-service-guide.com. Under the google custome search type ds3053 and see if you can get something better than what you have. If it still has a close expiry date, then just give your hubby the link and when the time is right,he downloads and goes to apply for notary. Applying for a notary is the responsibilty of your husband if he won't be around during processing. Hope it works. |

hi prebak, Pls kindly paste me Ur email , I need an important info from U , congrats anyway Prebak: Hello Everyone, how is d day going... This is my first time writing here,I have been a silent follower on this thread and I must confess that I have gained a lot here and it has been an experience worthwhile.
Myself and DH went for our interview last week and it was a smooth, brief and successful interview with the embassy.
In the spirit of giving back to this wonderful house here's our interview transcript:
Me and DH: Good morning
VO: Good morning
Me and DH: Gave him our passports
VO: took his time to check through visas on the passports
VO: why are you going to the US
Me: Didn't even allow him to finish his question; for vacation and childbirth
VO: OK, can I have your doctor's appointment
Me: I quickly passed my doctor's personalized appointment letter and email correspondence to him
VO: He glanced through and said ok, turned to my DH I can see you're the one sponsoring this trip, can I have your statement of acct and other investments
DH: passed his statement's and investments docs to him
VO: collected the statements and checked through page by page.... Both his personal and corporate statements and also the investments docs
VO to DH: what is your company into
DH: blah blah blah
VO: kept typing on his system.....
Me: I quickly passed my budget sheet to him
VO: he collected it and glanced through and said OK, I see you guys came fully prepared so therefore your visa has been approved. Then he passed the famous white sheet to us and said collect your visa in 2-3 working days
The VO didn't ask of my job experience, how much I earn....He was just particular on how prepared we are.
Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate every contribution on this thread....
I'm due in March and planning to leave first week of Feb...Has anyone used Qatar airways? Please what's their pregnancy policy like |

@pinksunset, Pls can you kindly paste me Ur email add, I need an important info from U , thanks PinkSunset: Good evening everyone. This is my first time commenting on This thread or any thread on Nairaland for that matter. However, I've been a silent reader.
My family (husband, me and our 3 shidrens ) Went for our visa interview yesterday. I only started following this thread after I had submitted our DS-160 forms (which took me 5 days to fill by the way). Trust me, every advice I read here was helpful. I even had some 'silent questions' which you people managed to answer and quell my fears.
Ok, let me get straight to the interview transcript.
HUBBY : Good morning. VO : Good morning, Passports please Hubby passed him the passports. VO : Perfect. VO : Why do you want to travel to the U.S.? HUBBY : My family deserves a vacation. They have never been anywhere so I want to take them to the U.S for Easter vacation. VO : Where in the U.S? HUBBY : Los Angeles VO : Why Los Angeles? HUBBY : Well, because it's a beautiful place to be and there's a lot to see. VO : Yes, it's beautiful. How long do you intend to stay? ME : 14 days. HUBBY : We plan to visit Orlando Florida as well because we would love to take our kids to Disneyland VO : (Nods) How do you plan to get to Orlando from Los Angeles? (in my mind, I was like "Hoin? Which kain question be this Kwanu? Are we going to trek before?" HUBBY : From the Los Angeles airport, we'll catch a flight to Orlando (I 'high-fived' hubby in my mind) VO : Do you have family in the U.S.? ME : Yes, my sister lives in Los Angeles, but we won't be staying with her though because we already made hotel reservations. VO : What do you do sir? HUBBY : I own my own business ............investments limited. I import floor tiles, wall tiles, wall papers and electronics. VO : Have you travelled out before? HUBBY : Yes, I frequently travel to Spain, that's where I buy my goods from. I also have a resident permit in Spain (hubby slipped the permit to him, VO looks at it , nods and slips it back to hubby. All the while, he's typing something on his computer) VO : what do you do Ma'am? ME : I'm a makeup artist, I teach makeup as well. VO : (looks at the kids) Are these your only kids? US : Yes VO : Are you pregnant ma'am? ME : No, we are not ready yet. (VO chuckles) VO : Have you travelled out before? ME : (points at hubby) He's the only one who travels, I and the kids have never gone anywhere. VO : Please hold on a minute while I finish up US : Ok. (In my mind, I activate prayer mode. I start firing prayers while the VO typed for about a minute. Next thing, he packed our passports and placed them on a table beside him and reached for the magic white paper that I love so much . He circled an address and slipped it to us) VO : Go pick up your visas in 3 days at the address circled on the white paper. US : Thank you. HUBBY : (To our kids) Say thank you. They chorus "thank you" . VO : Bye guys. That's it oh! I give God praise! He didn't ask for one single document, not even our acct statements were checked. I had to type this long transcript because I learnt so much from the ones other readers typed, and I hope someone would learn something from mine. In the spirit of celebration, go to the store next to your house and collect one bottle of your 'brand' in my name |
