Romance10 Mistakes Women Make With Men by nabegibeg(op): 10:00am On Sep 13, 2012
MISTAKE #1: Betting Your Love Life On His "Potential"

Do you know any women who want the man they're dating to behave differently?

Of course you do.

And just like me, I'm sure you have friends who date guys who don't have much going for them or who don't treat them very well.

Somehow these women always have an excuse for the guy's shortcomings.

What's going on here?

It's actually very simple.

Women (and men) don't base their choices of men on how “nice” or “good” someone is to them day-to-day.

Women choose the men they do because they feel a powerful GUT LEVEL ATTRACTION for them.

And guess what?

Some women will continue to put up with a guy that doesn't treat them very well.

Sometimes for months or years...

But why in the world would a woman do that!?

Well, to put it simply, they confuse the strong attraction they feel for the guy with a deeper “connection”.

Women who do this are doomed to end up in failed relationships with the “wrong” guys.

How do I know?

Because I've seen it at least a hundred times...

And because I've been this guy in the past myself.

Thinking back on past dating and relationships I've had, I was selfish and didn't offer much.

I'm amazed the women put up with me.

But they did...all the while hoping that I would somehow change.

The women I dated hoped I'd change.

The only thing they saw in me that led them to want to keep me around was the “potential” they saw in me to share my feelings and communicate with them.

The potential for something better and the potential for me to change and be a better lover, boyfriend, companion or whatever...

The truth was, I was hopelessly bad at these things at the time.

And more importantly, I wasn't even at a place in my life where I knew how to or was interested in developing a deep and committed relationship - with ANYONE.

But deep down these women believed that if they tried hard enough, that it would make up for what was lacking.

They believed that I could become someone else with them.... and that this would be easy for us both.

Talk about a losing battle.

It doesn't make a lot of “logical” sense...

But until you accept that lots of women do this AND that YOU could be doing it on some level, you'll NEVER have the success with men that you choose and want.

MISTAKE #2: Assuming You “Get” Men & Their Psychology
Men are different from women.

You need to accept this fact, and deal with it.

When a woman sees a man, she can very quickly pick apart certain things about his style, body language, status and character that will tell her all kinds of things about him.

Lot's of women don't even consciously see that they do this because the process is so obvious and simple for them.

But does the same apply for men.

As you probably already know, men are generally more visual.

As a result, they often don't understand non-verbal communication as well as women.

And men often lack what women have in emotional awareness and “intuition”.

Women don't seem to remember this about men.

So do men feel sexually attracted to women based just on looks? Or is something else going on?

Well, after studying this topic for years now, and talking to thousands of men and women, I can tell you that men have their “attraction mechanisms” triggered by things OTHER than looks.

Especially when it comes to longer term relationships.
Looks just happen to be the most obvious way...

But looks are NOT the most powerful.

If you know how to use your body language AND communication correctly, you can make men feel the same kind of powerful sexual attraction to you that YOU feel when you see that hot, great looking guy that you got to know.

But it's not an accident.

You have to LEARN how to do this.

And ANY woman can learn how..

MISTAKE #3: Pretending To Be Something For A Man

In the desire to please a man, women are constantly doing things to get a man's attention, to get him to like them or to make him more attracted or in love with them.

Another HORRIBLE idea.

Lots of women mistakenly think that doing unusual things to try and get a guy's attention will make him magically see what a great catch they are and want to be with them.

Wrong.

Men YOU TRULY WANT are never attracted to the types of women who kiss up to them, make weak plays for affection or complain to get what they want... EVER.

Don't get me wrong here. Things like being sexy for a man or encouraging him to share his feelings can be good, but it has to be genuine, unselfish, and most of all timely.

You don't have to act like an “easy” woman for men to like you, and you certainly don't have to play like he's some gift to the Earth.

Doing these things actually works to subtly, at an subconscious level, lower your social status with a man, which has EVERYTHING to do with how he sees you as a woman.

So if you think that making him more attracted to you means “playing to the man's fantasies” from the start, think again.

You'll never succeed by looking for a man's approval, finding your way into his heart through sex and not being yourself.

MISTAKE #4: Sharing How You “Feel” Too Early With Him
Another huge and unfortunate mistake that most women make with men is sharing how they “feel” too early on.

Listen...

Attractive, single, successful men are rare.

They get a LOT of attention from women.

Most women don't realize this, but attractive men are being approached in one way or another all the time by women.

And guess what?

Attractive men have usually dated a lot of women.

That's right. They have EXPERIENCE.

They know what to expect.

And one thing that turns an attractive men off and sends him running away faster than just about anything...

It's a woman who starts saying “You know, I really, REALLY like you” after one or two dates.

This signals to the man that you're just like one of those “clingy” stereotype women who want to rush into a relationship and can't control yourself from wanting a man to fulfill them and complete their lives.

This does NOT spell ATTRACTION for a man.

Don't do it. Lean back. Relax.

There's a much better way...

MISTAKE #5: Misreading The Important “Signals” That Men Send
Men are constantly communicating how they feel about a woman and giving away big secrets about themselves.

Most women don't pay attention to these signals or recognize them for what they really are.

The signals men send have 4 main levels:

Social: Where the man is at in his own life - stability, confidence, direction
Emotional: Whether or not he's “emotionally available”
Physical: If he's attracted to you... and for what reasons
Love State: If he's open to building and growing a relationship in the future

The funny thing is that men send signals in these areas completely on accident.

That's great news to women...

Men can't help it!

You need to learn to recognize these signals to get anywhere serious with a man.

MISTAKE #6: Relying On Your Natural Ability To Judge A Man's Character
People aren't easy to figure out.

Especially men.

The last several years of my life I've spent hundreds of hours learning to understand people.

I've studied peoples behavior, “inner psychology” and more specifically how they think and act when they're dating.

From what I've seen, both men and women have their own secret ways of saying things.

But you can only see these secret communications if you know what to look for.

Women communicate with hints, body language, sarcasm, and flirting when they're first getting to know a man.

They can either directly or indirectly let men know if they're open to something more serious.

Men are different.

Men generally communicate with sarcasm, humor, cockyness and other “indirect” displays of status.

VERY RARELY will a man be able to honestly communicate to a woman whether or not he's ready or capable of developing a meaningful relationship.

Aside from their sexual interests, men send very indirect signals about where they're at.

If you don't know how to read through the signals men send, then you'll get the wrong message.

Getting the wrong messages from men causes women more pain and heartache than any other issue around.

You can avoid this pain if you learn to indentify a good man from a bad one.

MISTAKE #7: Expecting A Relationship To Make You Happy

A mistake I've seen women make is thinking a guy will change her life and make her happy and fulfilled.

And sure, there are situations and relationships where this happens.

But those are the exceptions, not the rule.

Nothing says “Run!” to a man faster than hearing or sensing that a woman immediately wants him to take care of her.

And the men who ARE looking for this kind of situation aren't exactly the most healthy, loving, nurturing people out there.

Think, “controlling, macho, or serious Mom Issues!”

So let me be clear...

I think it's important that people help fulfill each other in their lives, whether it's dating, a relationship, whatever.

But if a woman communicates that she's looking for a guy to take care of her, complete her, make her whole, and all that kind of stuff - it has a VERY negative effect on what the man will think of he.

It doesn't have to be spoken by the woman either...

If a woman thinks or feels this way, the man will see it and pick up on it, regardless.

This is arguably the worst thing a woman can do early on when dating a man.

So what can you do as a woman?

You can get the man interested and involved in your life in a more “natural” way, where he'll be motivated to make you care about your happiness and fulfillment on his own.

This is the only way it really works for people - male or female.

Self-motivation is much stronger than external motivation.

But you have to know how to create this situation with a man... and it rarely happens by accident.

MISTAKE #8: Trying To “Convince” Him To Like You Or Love You

What do most women do when they meet a man that they REALLY like... but he's just not that interested or isn't as serious?

Right! They try to “convince” the man to feel differently.

Well, I have news for you...

YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE HOW A MAN “FEELS” WHEN IT COMES TO ATTRACTION!

Never, ever, ever.

You cannot convince a man to feel differently about you with “logic and reasoning”.

Think about it.

If a man doesn't “feel it” for you, how in the world do you expect to change that by being “reasonable” with him?

But we all do it.

Men are the worst at this by the way.

They're always complimenting women who don't like them and buying them gifts.

Women like the behavior sometimes, but it NEVER makes the woman like the man.

She might enjoy what she gets out of it, but it doesn't change the way she FEELS about him.

When a man just isn't interested, women will try and chase, compliment, convince and do their best to change his mind with logical and rational approaches.

Bad idea. Another one that will never work.

MISTAKE #9: Not Knowing What To Do In Each Type Of Situation
A man has a clear idea of what he wants from a woman...

And I don't mean just sex.

I know, it might be hard to believe, but if you're out on a date with a man, he already has an idea of what he wants from you.

And if you don't know HOW to find this out, and you just sit there looking at him and flirting, or trying things you think will make him want you, he won't help!

If you don't know what to do in each situation, you'll probably screw it up... and LOSE EVERYTHING.

MISTAKE #10: Not Getting Help
This is the biggest mistake of all.

This mistake keeps women from EVER having the kind of success and finding the kind of man and relationship that they truly want.

I know, you don't like to make yourself look weak or helpless. We don't like to ask for help.

Hey, I've been there myself.

Let me tell you a little about me.

Over the last few years it's been hard to watch the women around me (even those I dated) struggle to understand the men they were attracted to or dating.

It frustrated the hell out of me and I made the decision to do whatever it took to help the women I knew learn how to be successful with men and dating.

Well, after a lot of hard work and doing all kinds of crazy things to learn the real-world truth about men and women, I finally figured things out for myself.

I've read hundreds of books on psychology, human behavior, dating/relationship advice for men and women, love, attraction, communication, and more. The list goes on.

I can now approach just about any situation with dating and feel confident and understand everything that's going on in an interaction.

Best of all, I've been able to share my knowledge and help women become more successful with men and dating.

It's been a very rewarding experience, and it's how I became fascinated with the female perspective in the dating world.

I've helped women get rid of that sick, insecure feeling... the one you get when you're lonely, you've been hurt or lied to, or when a man you have feelings for says “he's not ready”.

You don't have to be afraid you might wind up being lied to, cheated on or that you'll end up alone.

TV/MoviesGoldie Evicted From BBA by nabegibeg(op): 8:50pm On Jul 15, 2012
Nigeria’s representative in the 2012 Big Brother stargame, Goldie has been evicted from the house. The eviction of Goldie did not come as a surprise to many people who thought the Nigerian blew her chances of winning the $300,000 BBA 2012 star prize with her relationship with Prezzo and lack lustre attitude in the house.
Goldie had survived evictions in the past. She even saved Prezzo, her ‘lover’ in the BBA.It was as if the Nigerian was on cue to fall in love when the show in BBA. Now Goldie would go home with the memories of those moment she spent with Prezzo on the bed

Goldie’s eviction is the latest buzz on social networks such as twitter and facebook at the moment. Many of the tweets were of the opinion that it is indeed time for the Nigerian to say goodbye to the house. “All she did was to cry,cry and just want to be with Prezzo as if he is the prize” , a Nigerian musician told niyitabiti.net shortly after the eviction.

Kemi Adetiba the popular Maltina Dance Hall hostess wrote on twitter- “So Goldie is out?Hopefully the Nigerian press and public will allow her breathe abd ger on with her career”

Another person said Prezzo suceeded in using Goldie and it made way for him.It would be recalled that Goldie once saved Prezzo by replacing him with Keita. But the same Prezzo once nominated Goldie for eviction.

Hours before Goldie’s exit from the big brother 2012 house, she had a fight with Prezzo over his missing ring. Prezzo had accused her of taking his ring because he found it in one of her bags. They later made up as Prezzo apologized.
Unlike Karen the vigorous Nigerian girl who represented Nigeria and won the BBA last year, Goldie was more of an introvert. She kept more to herself and was too emotional.

Many thought Goldie’s profile would soar with her participation in the BBA.Born Susan Filani, the star actress who lives in highbrow Parkview Estate,Ikoyi Lagos is a native of Ekiti state, Nigeria. She is currently signed on Kennis music.

Three Nigerians,Kelvin Pam Chuwang,Uti Nwanchukwu and Karen Igho are three Nigerians who have won the star prize of Big Brother Africa in the past.

PoliticsNigeria Has No Laboratory To Read Black Boxes, Says AIB by nabegibeg(op): 6:48am On Jun 08, 2012

Mr Tunji Oketumbi, Head, Public Affairs, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), explains factors that could result in air crashes. Assistant Editor (Investigations) JOKE KUJENYA met him

Past reports of aviation mishap probes

As a matter of fact, they are often made public. And if you go to our website, you will find loads of past reports there that you can download. Yet, I agree with you that there are a few of the reports that have not come out. And they may come out late for several reasons. For one, accident investigations are not ‘instant coffee’. It is something that involves lots of processes. And one accident is different from the other. So, some of the processes could be elongated, especially where certain components or evidences are missing. And so, we usually need to look for all these components or evidences for all the investigations to be complete. Then, there are some high profile accident reports that some people are expecting to have been released. But we have done them and the government will soon release them to the best of my understanding. So, some of those in the past, the investigations have been completed and statutorily, we report to the President through the Aviation Minister, who had submitted them. However, there are some institutional challenges, I must admit. And we expect that those ones will be addressed in the amendments we are doing to our regulations.

AIB role in air mishap probe

It is self-explanatory. From the name, it means we are the bureau that is saddled with the responsibility of investigating accidents. And the next thing one might be tempted to probe is what type of accidents do we investigate? Well, we investigate aircraft disasters. And according to Civil Aviation Act 2006, sub-section 29, AIB is a body charged with the task of investigating airliner calamities and every serious incident with a view to proffering safety recommendations that will be used in preventing re-occurrence.

Black boxes

AIB is beyond having a black box inside airplanes. Black Box is just a tool for us at the AIB to conduct investigation. In itself, it is not enough in the instances of air mishaps. Now, there are usually two black boxes in every plane but they are co-located. The first one is the Flight Data Recorder (FDR), which gathers operational data from the systems in the aircraft. Then, there are censors in various parts of the airliners as well that garner all the information which are channelled to the FDR. It also provides investigators clues about speed, time, horizontal stability, vertical acceleration and problems with the two engines, if any, the avionics, control surfaces and several others. So, the FDR collects all these minute details as well as the parameters range from the eleven to perhaps over one hundred. All these are what help us in our investigations so we would be able to know whether or at what time or stage in the flight the engines packed up; is it one or the two engines that packed up at the same time... So, FDR records moments before the crash from take-off point. As you know, no one, including the crew, survived the Sunday, June 3 DANA crash. So, how would we know what went wrong without the FDR.

Then, there is the second component, the Cock-pit Voice Recorder (CpVR), which records every bit of sounds in the cockpit. It records the conversations among the pilots and the entire crew, between the crew and the control tower, between the crew and another aircraft in case of crossing their respective pathways as well as between the crew and the ground station. Even when a pin drops, the CpVR picks the sound no matter how ‘silent’ it may be considered.

This is what usually helps us investigators to know the state of minds of the entire crew by what they say. Were they panicky or calm through it all? We will then download the data in these two components to be able to arrive at a verifiable conclusion. However, we can also know the conversations between the pilot and the control tower from the information gathered at the tarmac because we have another tape at the tower. And in this case, the information has been impounded for safety already.

Taking black boxes to the U.S.

Good question. That is because we don’t have the laboratory to do the downloading here in Nigeria. Already, we have initiated the process of purchasing and setting up our own in Nigeria. We are hoping that if we get enough financial support from the government, we should be able to have this facility soonest.

A plane developing fault in the air without previous signs Aircraft are mechanical and anything perfunctory

can develop problems without previous warnings. Just like we too, as humans, can develop issues anytime without prior warnings, let alone a mere machine. But largely, it also depends on what the problem with a particular airplane is. But you have to know that aircraft are built in such a way that most of their components have back-ups so that if one engine is faulty, for instance, the second helps till the plane gets to a very safe destination. And it is also very rare for the two engines or components of any airline to develop problems at the same time. But if the two engines now happen to be lost at once in any situation, then, we have a very serious problem on our hands. And many other things have back-ups as well, which does not mean that they might not have problems. Once there is problem, they have been trained to quickly divert to an alternative airport close-by depending on where and when it happens.

Reasons planes go down

If you want to classify that, we can say that over 80 per cent of air crashes is due to human errors. But the analyses from various data that have been supplied and which can be easily accessed from the Internet; crew error –that is, crew judgment, what they say, their actions or inactions, account for about over sixty per cent. But mechanical or air worthiness account for perhaps just about thirteen per cent while weather could account for a little percentage with prior caution from the control tower. But let me just say that human factors and we are not just limiting this to pilot errors, which also is an action that is triggered by certain cumulative effects due to a chain of reactions. What I am saying is that fatality is not just the exact result of the action taken at the point of attempts to avert crisis. We cannot rule out the possibility of an error from the air traffic controller. If you recall the accident involving an ADC Airline in 1995 at Ejinrin in Lagos, it began remotely by the action of the air traffic controller who mistakenly directed two aircraft along the same path. They both were coming against each other. But fortunately, there was Traffic Avoidance Collision System mechanism on the airplanes. So it started beeping to the entire crew alerting them: ‘You got traffic... Climb or go low...’ The takers are made to sound audibly so the plane crew can hear it. So, in the process of avoiding the collision, they might have pressed a wrong button and the plane crashed. So, that was a human error that started with the human traffic controller who had forgotten that he cleared two aircraft to tow the same air ways. Although he later corrected himself, but it was the crew error that eventually caused the crash. They agreed to go to a certain level against the advice of the air traffic controller who also was telling them to go to a particular flight level. And by the time he went to the level suggested by his own crew, he encountered another unavoidable traffic. And in the process of avoiding the new traffic, there was a collision.

Safety of the Nigerian airspace

The Nigerian air space is very safe. But there are a lot of issues involved. One, aviation is a regulated industry. And you cannot say because there is one accident, you then declare our airspace unsafe. Several things contribute to either air or land accidents. Coupled with human error, weather, training, organisational challenges in airline management, infrastructural deficiencies, but in the last few years, since 2006, in particular that Nigeria had a spate of accidents, the government tried to beef up in the area of infrastructure. So now, we have good radar system, air space lightings, Instrument Landing System (ILA), that is the equipment that helps the plane to be aligned to the centreline of the runway and navigational needs that could enhance safety in our flight operations. And though things may not be perfect yet, but then, if the subsisting rules and regulations are complied with, weather conditions are well observed and cautions adhered to, there would be minimal air accidents. But no one can totally eradicate occasional accidents anywhere in the world.

Responses to emergency

That is a different thing entirely and not just an aviation problem alone. This has become our general nuance. And it has to do with what has become somehow ‘cultural’ with the way we run things in our country. What I mean is that our state of preparedness is abysmal. We don’t prepare ahead for emergencies in the country as a lifestyle until we have situations on hand. We don’t plan ahead or envisage eventualities. So, slow responses to emergencies are not just about aviation; but about us as a nation and as a people. An overall approach is to look at the state of our fire fighters and emergency agencies at the moment and upgrade them in readiness for battles. There is a particular agency invested with the law to manage emergencies –NEMA –but what is the level of equipments and training of the concerned officials you may want to ask? We also have the aeronautical search and rescue officials. And everything in aviation is guided by rigorous rules and regulations but what we need is more coordination and enforcement.

Averting future crashes

We must understand that aviation is not a local business. It is an international venture that is guided by strict volumes of standard procedures and practices. So, if these stipulations are not violated but duly followed to the latter, conscientiously and diligently, and firmly enforced, we will barely have accidents or in the least, minimal crashes. The industry is evolving every day, regularly introducing fresh regulations and initiatives, Safety Management Systems (SMS), so that each airline operator will passionately embrace safety in the way they run their businesses. All that is now required is for each organisation to follow these rules in their daily operations and management systems.

PoliticsNigerian Teenager Buried Under Garden Shed In London by nabegibeg(op): 7:51am On May 24, 2012

A Nigerian teenager living in London was stabbed, beaten unconscious and had concrete poured inside his hoodie before being buried in a shallow grave under a shed the Old Bailey has heard.

It is alleged that Stephen Ojerinola, 18, was dumped in a makeshift grave in the back garden of one of the attackers following the brutal attack in Kidbrooke, South East London.

Jurors were told that William Regan and Lee Davies, who are accused of murder, then erected a flatpack Homebase shed on top of the teenager’s burial site.

The court also heard that after arranging the ‘undignified and unlawful burial’, Regan phoned the victim’s girlfriend to ask whether she had seen him.

Mr Ojerinola’s body was not uncovered until seven months after he disappeared during a police visit to Regan’s home.

Regan and Davies, both 36, are said to have attacked Mr Ojerinola at some point on April 11 or 12 last year but it was not until November 20 that police unearthed his remains.

His body - encased in concrete - was discovered by a trained sniffer dog following more than a day of excavation in Regan’s garden, said prosecutor Max Hill.

He added: ‘He was several feet down. Buried, therefore, beneath the shed, gravel, a tarpaulin, wooden boards, mixed rubble, loose soil and then the concrete.

‘As the team dug down, first his trainer shoe emerged from the earth and concrete.

‘Then a body, curled into a foetal position. His arms were in fact around a ball of concrete, hardened after it had been poured inside his hooded top.

‘He had been placed in that grave to rot.

‘The levels above him demonstrate, the prosecution say, the planning and effort put into concealing him and the callous disregard shown for this 18-year-old young man.

There was even, in fact, a Twix wrapper, discarded in one of the levels of his unlawful grave - discarded perhaps by one of those who worked so hard to ensure Stephen Ojerinola would never be seen by anyone again.’

Mr Ojerinola was lured to Regan’s home on the pretext of selling his attacker drugs, the court heard.

But instead, said Mr Hill: “He found himself in the company of two men, both twice his age with a tendency to explode into violence and a predisposition to use weapons to inflict injury on others.”

Regan had a criminal record including several burglaries - including one in which £10,000 or more was stolen just days before the killing.

He and Davies attacked Mr Ojerinola by stabbing him in the chest, inflicting a wound three inches deep, and knocking him unconscious with a hammer, jurors were told.

Five further stab wounds were also found on his neck, along with defensive wounds to his hands.

“There may have been even more injuries than we know about,’ said Mr Hill.

‘His entombment underground for seven months, together with the action of concrete on exposed skin, means that areas of his face and body were badly decomposed and damaged leading to loss of skin and therefore possible loss of evidence of further injuries.’

In the days that followed, concrete cladding and the flatpack garden shed were purchased at a nearby Homebase store, with shingle and wooden wallboards delivered from a branch of Wickes, the court heard.

A new sofa bed was also bought on April 13, said Mr Hill.

“Neighbours started to notice unusual activity including the delivery of a shed, flat-packed on the roof of a car, and nighttime digging in the rear garden that went on into the early hours of the following morning.

“Something was going on, carefully planned and carefully executed over those days in the middle of April.”

A few days later, Regan is said to have attended Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, claiming he had cut his head and arm and broken a bone in his hand after falling out of a tree.

When police raided his home on November 20, much of the downstairs area had been freshly painted and the carpets removed, the court heard.

But a thorough forensic search by police revealed traces of Mr Ojerinola’s blood on the letterbox, walls and on a hammer and baseball bat found in Regan’s bedroom, it was said.

When he was arrested Davies claimed he had only been enlisted by Regan to help put up the shed and had been paid with half an ounce of cannabis.

Regan said the victim had come at him with a knife and will claim he was trying to steal the spoils of one of his burglaries, the court was told.

Mr Hill said: “This case is not about the shock and panic of innocent men, forced to kill in self-defence.

“This case concerns the violent murder of a young man half the age of these defendants, who then calmly set about covering their tracks.

“This was not the reaction of innocents but cold-blooded calculation of the guilty.”

Regan and Davies, of Chiswell Square, Kidbrooke, have admitted preventing a lawful burial but deny murder.

The trial continues.

PoliticsIG: Constables To Earn N50000 by nabegibeg(op): 3:22pm On May 22, 2012

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar

By Chiemelie Ezeobi

Acting Inspector-General of Police (IG), Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, said Monday in Ikeja, Lagos State, that the least paid police officer (constable) would go home with a monthly salary of N50,000, if his proposal to the Presidency scales through.

This will mark a sharp increase, as a constable is currently paid N28,000 a month.

He made the disclosure at the Police Command Headquarters while addressing the personnel as part of his visit to the state.

He said: “We are looking into the welfare of our officers and we have made a proposal to the Presidency for the basic salary of constables to be a minimum of N50, 000.”
His declaration sent the policemen at the briefing ground into a boisterous celebration.

Abubakar said he took the decision to seek improvement in the welfare of the personnel to boost their morale.

Soon after pledging to upgrade the welfare of his officers, Abubakar sounded a note of warning to errant officers.
He said any policeman found wanting of the laid down rules would not be spared.

He also said 50,000 officers of the Force were being trained in intelligence and crime investigation to check the insecurity in the country.

According to him, 16,000 of the 50,000 would get intelligence-based police training, while another 10,000 would go for detective course training.

Abubakar disclosed this when he led top police officers on a courtesy visit to Governor Babatunde Fashola in continuation of his familiarisation tour of police commands in the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Abubakar had earlier addressed officers and men of the command, stakeholders and traditional rulers.

He said the security situation in the country called for more proactive measures if the nation must win the war against violence.

The police boss pledged that he would restore the lost glory of the police, but noted that this might not be possible without the support of the officers and the public.

“We want to build a people-friendly police, which every Nigerian would be proud to be associated with; a force people would be willing to assist by offering information, and they will see the result immediately,” he said.

Abubakar added: “At this point in time, any officer that is not willing to embrace the change will fall by the way side.”
He commended the Lagos State Government for supporting the force, stressing that if other states in Nigeria emulated the state, the crime situation would be drastically reduced.

The IG said that about 300 patrol vehicles would be deployed in the nation’s high ways to replace the dismantled road blocks.

“The vehicles will replace the recently dismantled road blocks and help to boost the effective patrolling of our highways,” he said.

Abubakar said unfortunately, road blocks were being used for purposes different from their original intention.

He said the road blocks, as used in the country, had been turned into an aberration which affected effective policing.
He further said the road blocks were being used to extort money from motorists over the years, rather than to fight crime.

“We have gone ahead to stop road blocks because we do not understand the reason why these road blocks should be there.

“This is the only country in the world that you have permanent road blocks. But really in security situations, road blocks are temporary measures that are only put in place after particular security issues have been taken care of.
“Unfortunately, we have made it a permanent feature of our security manoeuvres,” he said.

According the IG, “That is why we are doing everything possible to build the capacity of our officers. Capacity building is the key to effective policing in the country and from our analysis those road blocks were not doing us any good.

“In fact, they were greatly damaging the country's reputation and that of the Police Force. And so, we decided that those road blocks should go.”

He added that all the four premier police colleges in Enugu, Ikeja, Maiduguri and Kaduna would soon be rehabilitated and repositioned to deliver quality training to men of the force.

Abubakar said that the police were currently in a major transformational process, promising that the Force would soon metamorphose into a people-friendly, effective-crime fighting establishment.

He urged Nigerians to support the Force’s Community Policing Initiative by volunteering relevant information that would further strengthen the security of lives and property.
Abubakar promised to strengthen the operations of police institutions to enable them to undertake their responsibilities as officers’ training schools.

In his speech, Fashola commended the police for their efforts to curb crimes, in spite of insufficient equipment.
He hoped that Abubakar, who had passed through the rank and file to the top, would be in a better position to take the force to a higher level.

The governor urged Abubakar to address issues such as rape, sale of alcohol by those underage, and assault on children and women.

HealthLagos, Nba’s Talks On Sacked Doctors Deadlocked by nabegibeg(op): 6:47am On May 22, 2012

The negotiations between the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Medical Association mediated by the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos branch, have remained deadlocked.

The Chairman of the Medical Guild, Dr. Olumuyiwa Odusote, said on Monday that the meeting which was attended by the state’s Head of Service, Mr. Adesegun Ogunlewe; the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris; and the Chairman of Lagos NBA, Mr. Taiwo Taiwo; could not be concluded as an agreement could not be reached.

Odusote said, “NBA acted as the mediator, the body negotiated with us and took our positions to the side of the government while it also made the sides of the government known to us. But we have yet to agree.”

He, however, said the next talks continue on Tuesday (today).

Meanwhile, there were indications that some patients in Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, might have died as a result of the crisis, which started on April 24.

A source at the laboratory unit of the hospital on Monday said the death toll had been gradually increasing, especially at the Medical Emergency ward.

He said many of the casualties were patients that could not be discharged due to the critical nature of their illness.

The source said, “Many of the patients are in critical conditions but there are no experts to attend to them. LASUTH lost more doctors than any hospital in the state.”

A patient at the male ward, who gave his name simply as Lasisi, said there were 12 patients in the ward.

He said, “I was admitted for an operation a day before the strike. I could not have the surgery. I have a kidney problem but my consultant was sacked and no doctor has attended to me since then.”

In another development the House Committee on Health which visited the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Aba, on Monday said the solidarity strike by federal doctors in the state was illegal and unconstitutional.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, who held meetings with Chief Medical Directors of the four federal hospitals in the state and the NMA condemned incessant strikes by health workers in the state.

Elumelu said, “There is need to look at the legality and constitutionality of a solidarity strike. Dialogue is the best option.”

He added that the committee would continue to prevail on the doctors to call off their solidarity strike.

The state Chairman of NMA, Dr. Edamisan Temiye, said the doctors would call an emergency meeting to review the situation.

However, the state chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has described the alleged threats by the Nigerian Medical Association to the newly recruited doctors as uncivilised.

In a statement by its state Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, the party said instead of threats, the sacked doctors should embrace dialogue.

The ACN said, “It is sad that doctors that should have been reticent in their actions are now acting like area boys and are now issuing threats to colleagues.”

The party urged security agencies to investigate the threats and ensure that those behind them were brought to justice.

Don’t call it a come back cause he only kind off stepped to the side. Don Jazzy formerly of Mo’Hits a record label he made famous with D’banj has announced the launch of his new project, Mavin Records. Jazzy announced the dissolution of Mo’Hits via social media after D’banj reportedly claimed that he alone owned the label and that Jazzy was one of his artists. D’banj is signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music.

According to the company’s website the name Mavin pronounced [May-vin] is “someone who is dazzlingly skilled in many fields. Other synonyms for mavin which can also be spelled as maven are guru, maestro, expert, whiz, and hotshot. No doubt Jazzy is a mavin.

The new record label has signed the likes of Tiwa Savage, Dr. SID, D’Prince, and Wande Coal. The star studded super group will release a compilation album, Solar Plexus on May 8th. This rebirth of Don jazzy is very Bad Boyesque a la Puff Daddy-P Diddy. The man is definitely wearing the hell outta that suit.
