University Of Abuja Student Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Brother (Photos)

An undergraduate student of the University of Abuja, Abiodun Allen, has been sentenced to death by a Lagos State High Court for stabbing his younger brother, Wale, to death over their father’s property.
Abiodun was convicted of one count of murder contrary to Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

It was gathered that 33-year-old Abiodun had killed Wale with a broken bottle at their family house on Oritse Street, Imude, in the Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area of Lagos State during an argument over the property.

Wale, a serving naval officer in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had visited the family home to settle a dispute over their late father’s property which was allegedly taken over by Abiodun.
It was learnt that Abiodun, who stabbed Wale several times in the neck, dragged his body to a bush and covered it with leaves.

During the trial, the prosecutor, O. R. Ahmed-Muil, called four witnesses, including the suspect’s landlord, Mr Sunday Abogunrin.
Abogunrin confirmed that he saw the convict dragging the body into the bush while the landlord attested that he saw him washing his blood stained hands at the well which prompted him to alert the youths.
He noted that the convict broke his sister’s hand and smacked his elder brother’s head while attempting to escape, adding that he was later apprehended by some Oodua People’s Congress members who took him to the baale’s palace.

The Investigating Police Officer, ASP Uthman Lamidi, told the court that he saw the deceased’s body at the scene, adding that upon interrogation, the defendant admitted to killing his younger brother with a broken bottle and that he was about to bury the corpse when he was intercepted.

He said, “I handcuffed the defendant and took him away. The defendant followed me willingly and confessed to killing his younger brother. His confession was read to him and he signed it, while I countersigned. In the course of investigation, we also discovered that the defendant had threatened to kill his late brother several times before actually carrying out the act.”

Delivering her judgement on Monday, Justice Raliat Adebiyi held that the prosecution had proved a case of murder beyond reasonable doubt against the defendant and consequently sentenced him to death.
She said, “The defendant is hereby found guilty and convicted of the murder of his brother, Allen Wale.
You, Allen Abiodun, is hereby sentenced to death. May God, the giver of life, have mercy on you.”

Thunder Rain Destroyed New Erected Market Buildings, Yesterday In Gwagwalada [Photos & Video]

Naijafinix reporter, Kingsley a sales rep at the Gwagwalada central market, along Police divisional Head-quarters, Gwagwalada - Abuja. The rain began as at some minutes past 5pm, with some wild breeze, despite there were still sunshine, we felt it won't rain due to the sunshine, few minutes later, they came a more like an horrible kind of wind which brought to the destruction of of the newly erected corner shops inside the Gwagwalada market, from shop number 26 down to number 97, the roof was brought down completely, and the wild breeze rain uprooted the roof over the road to hit other shops and kiosk that was close by across the road.

Alot of people sustained injuries due to the roof falling into their shop, nail punctured some vehicles tyres as the rain was still falling heavily.

According Mallam Ahmed who sells Mobile phones, and its parts was also a victim of the hazard, he cried bitterly as all his goods was condemned, he blamed the Contractor for not building a good roof which they all paid for, and promise himself to fight him if he steps his feet into the market (Closed Threat).

All the kiosk that was erected on the other hand of the road across the Gwagwalada market was totally wiped out by the roof, as the wild breeze blew out the roof over and landed across the road, directly on top of their kiosk.

About 18 people were rushed immediately to a near by hospital "University Of Abuja Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada, Abuja"(UATH). Some of them where later discharged this morning while others are still receiving treatment.

Many argued that, with the way the government are doing, that they are not sure if the Gwagwalada Market Union will fix the building for on time... Mr Chike Nnaji, replies that if only they can come together with one voice and go to their office, they will put a replacement ASAP.

[STORY]:- 3 Days of Horrors & Testimonies (The kidnap o Part 1 By:-Chichi Eriobu

June 2016, my Dad was in Lagos for a Healing program. I was a volunteer in that program. I had gone to get him from the east to come attend the program. It was on a Sunday, I think.

The next morning, I dropped off my Dad at the venue of the program at 8am, under the care of some colleagues working there. I needed to go to my house, rest a bit and get some of my personal stuff. Because, we didn’t stay at my house, we stayed at a colleague’s house close to the venue of the program.

At 11am, I called a colleague to check on my Dad. He was fine. And while I was making food at home to bring to him, I dozed off briefly.

12noon, I called to check on my Dad, I was told he stepped out, that he said he wanna get some snack as he didn’t eat breakfast.

30minutes later, he wasn’t back. 1hour. 2hours. 3hours. 4,5,6,hours, Dad wasn’t back from getting snacks. And then I knew something was seriously wrong somewhere. And so, we began a search.

This was happening within Oregun, Ikeja.

I tried so much to remain calm and under control. Who does that anyway? Who stays that calm when a loved one is in trouble. I tried. I prayed. I hoped. I declared words.

I couldn’t tell my siblings that their Father had gone missing under my watch. I couldn’t tell Mum, either. That would be automatic suicide. (She’s the strongest woman I ever known, though)

We combed the whole of Ikeja environs on foot. Asked both sane and unsane persons. I brought out his pictures in my phone, transferred to my colleagues who were helping to look for him. We searched and searched and searched.

Night came. And you know the month of June and rainfall seems to love each other more. The weather was extremely cold.

I cringed at the thought of him shivering under the cold wherever he might be. I prayed, and asked God to take absolute control.

I couldn’t blink one bit. It was as if sleep had suddenly become a sin. And if I closed my eyes, the worse may happen. I shuddered at the thought.

I couldn’t place a call to him. His phone suddenly developed fault that morning, and I took it to repair in computer village on my way. And so, he was without any phone.

At 12am, we were still on the streets, searching for him… It was the longest night of my life. Full of faith, but terrible.

(To be continued, please) Work is calling.

Literature / [STORY]:- Pastor’s Second Wife – Episode 1 by Naijafinix: 5:34am On Oct 15, 2018
[STORY]:- Pastor’s Second Wife – Episode 1

The last abortion I did was the fourth time I’m doing abortion for you. You want to destroy all the children in my womb? When I finally get married, what will I give to my husband? I will not abort this pregnancy, I will keep it and face the shame.

Stella lamented to her secret boyfriend after he asked her to go for abortion as usual. You know I am a pastor and my integrity is at stake if you keep this pregnancy. What will I tell my wife? What do you want me to tell my G.O? How will I stand my congregation? Those who wanted my downfall all this while will now have the opportunity to ground me. You can’t keep the pregnancy Stella.

These and more were the words of Pastor Olumodeji, when Stella insisted she will keep the pregnancy this time.
How did it go? I asked my friend. Stella has been my childhood friend for over two decades now. Every time she was pregnant for pastor Olumodeji, I was the only one she confided in. We were both members of the central choir until pastor Olumodeji transferred me to our new branch in the mainland and made me the head of the choir.

He made it look like he was promoting me but I knew he was no longer comfortable seeing me in the same church he pastors, knowing how much of his secrets I have known.

Before my transfer, whenever he preaches about righteousness and our eyes jammed, you could notice the uneasiness on him. I didn’t know how my friend entered into this prison. All our attempts to stop their illicit relationship failed severally. They had used me most often to clean up their mess. Why I connived with them to continually help them cover up still remains a mystery to me.
Stella, you’re keeping this pregnancy this time. How long will you continue to protect an integrity that does not exist?

A man of integrity does not sleep with his church members. It is high time you let the church know what pastor Olumodeji has been doing in the secret. If we continue to cover this evil for him, God will not spare us in his judgement. He should just accept responsibility for his action, I told Stella. I have made up my mind to keep the pregnancy and there’s no going back on that but I won’t implicate pastor Olumodeji. I can’t stand the shame and humiliation.

I can’t watch and see the church I helped built from the scratch crumble right in my face because of my illicit affair with the pastor. I will not be the one who will be the tool of destruction for the church of God. Pastor Olumodeji may be stained but there are still righteous people in the church. Hearing this will puncture the faith of the young believers who trust him so much. I will run away with my pregnancy to an unknown destination.

This is what I will do and I don’t want you to advice me against it. Stella said.
Very early in the morning before I woke up from the bed, my phone rang. when I checked my caller, it was our area pastor, my friend’s secret boyfriend, pastor Olumodeji. Without doubt, I knew why he was calling me. It must be in connection with Stella’s pregnancy.

This time I wasn’t going to be the good girl I used to be, I will be blunt and straight to pastor. I was still thinking of dirty and derogatory words to use against pastor when I picked his call, then the call ended.

I was expecting him to call me back because I knew he must have had a sleepless night over the issue. While I was waiting for his call, Stella’s call came in. I picked and couldn’t hear her as the call kept breaking due to network problem.

I can’t hear you Stella, let me call you with my mtn line, I suggested. As I tried to dial her number, pastor’s call interrupted. I refused to pick his call so I can speak with my friend first. The more I tried to reach Stella, the more his calls kept interrupting. At this time, I realized he was really desperate and agitated. I was literally confused but not answering his calls may send a wrong signal.

I decided to pick his call. “Hello sister Mercy” he said. ” Hello pastor” I replied.
I need to see you urgently sister Mercy. We have to talk now, I don’t mind meeting you in your house or somewhere else.

He said in a worried voice. Can you imagine my area pastor humble himself to this extent because he had defecated in the wrong place? No wonder the Bible says “there is no peace for the wicked”.

The thought of using this case to milk him started running through my mind while I was still on the phone with him. But on a second thought, is it not our church resources he will use to service the ransoms? I reasoned within me.

Politics / Election 2019:- A Nigerian Youth Activist Joins Abuja Election Race. by Naijafinix: 10:16am On Sep 11, 2018
Election 2019:- A Nigerian Youth Activist Joins Abuja Election Race.

A Nigerian youth Activist, former DSUG president University Of Abuja and Chairman National Rescue Movement, Party (NRM) FCT Chapter, Icon Nixon Chukwuka Odimbu on Monday joined the list of contenders for election into the House Of Representatives in Abuja. Although he had chosen to run under the credible and resplendent political platform, NATIONAL RESCUE MOVEMENT PARTY (NRM), he has vowed to slug it out in the 2019 general elections for Amac/Bwari Federal Constituency.
Nixon from Ezi In Aniocha North Local Government Area Of Delta State and President and Founder of the Most wanted Activism Group, #THE LIMIT BREAKERS WORLDWIDE (TLBW) revealed his ambition in an interview with journalists in Abuja. According to him, it is inspiring that amidst difficulties and growing anxiety over the future of the country, Nigerians have refused to succumb to despair and hopelessness.
He said: “It is therefore gratifying that my vision and service – driven life that I, after due consultations with family, the private and public sectors, civil society groups, labour unions, religious and political leaders, youths and students groups, hereby offer myself and my services to the great constituents of Abuja North as a candidate for the House Of Representatives Amac/Bwari Federal Constituency.
I declare this intention solemnly with an acute awareness of the onerous challenges that lay ahead and powered by our dogged commitment to survive and weather the storm as they may come in acknowledgement that no true path towards growth and development is with an admixture of thorns and roses. ” My story is similar to that of so many underprivileged Nigerians of my generation – Born and wrapped with the shawls of penury and despair and aware of the crushing realities of my station darting at my sight, I ploughed through childhood with my dreams and aspirations for comfort, defied the stratification of class to join my voices with the few straining against injustices. I have never since looked back nor compromised on the ideals and principles that have shaped my interaction with my immediate and remote world. And I am happy about it.
Nixon said although the task before the youth is daunting, the youths have manifold possibilities to liberate Nigerian and put the economy on the global map.

https://naijafinix.com/election-%e2%80%8b2019-a-nigerian-youth-activist-joins-abuja-election-race/

He said: we are the threshold of immense opportunity one as slippery as the sum of dreams, hopes and aspirations that have gone down the steep decline of neglect and disbelief. So on more. The time has never been more right for youths to rise to the responsibility of leadership, taking off the cloak of passive participation with mind and effort in the creative process for a better future with hope and confidence. “It is for the reason that 2019 election is about the youths, it is about ensuring that we emancipate ourselves from the political stereotypes and becoming more socially and politically responsible to the country. I worry today that most of our youths who, given the opportunity, would have ameliorated the sad state of this nation, too often had their aspirations stilted by an avalanche of opposition bred in the very society we live in.
Within the borderlands of Abuja the glaring mismatch between our potentials and our achievements has become for many a frustrating puzzle; for others it is a topic for debate; and yet for another group, it is doomsday lament. But with strength of conviction and positivity which enamels our sense of patriotism towards Nigeria and our great people. I consider it a golden opportunity and a bittersweet chance to manifest our effrontery, activate our innovative instinct, showcase our character and turn our dreams to reality.
“Myraids of groups and platform in different nomenclatures have bracingly and clandestinely constituted themselves into principalities of ready foot soldiers to serve the ignoble interest of serially recycled politicians within the polity keen on stemming the rise of a youth – driven politica movement and awakening to challenge the lethargy of political status quo.
“I want to do my part in rebuilding a country too long fettered by fears, suspicion of each other and official corruption. A new Nigeria where hardwork and dedication is rewarded, where the people constitute the greatest investment because the true wealth of a nation lies with the people.
