PhonesDownload Free Movies On Nuvu By Airtel by NaijaGeeks(op): 12:08pm On May 20, 2017
So I stumbled upon this app while looking for where to download free movies, yeah I do that too.

The Nuvu app is a movie/video download app by Airtel that basically allows you to download movies both local and international. The cool thing about this app is that it allows you to download movies without mobile data, yeah I said that correctly without a mobile data.

The app requires you to have an Airtel SIM card to be able to access the unlimited download which only happens between 12am to 6:30am. When you Download the app for the first time you register with you Airtel number and you are given a 14 days trial period which you don’t pay for. But after this trial period expires you’ll then pay N1750 for 30days and N875 for 7days. The videos last only 30days on your phone so you have little time to watch, that’s a minus for me cos there are some movies I’d love to watch more than once then I’ll have to download them again.

The app comes packed with Nollywood and Hollywood titles and also music videos. But none of this titles are recent most of them a 2016 and later, hopefully Airtel would include some latest titles when people get to start subscribing. Also the movies are stored on your phone memory so If you have a phone with limited memory space you would have problems downloading more than a couple of movies.

Asides that’s the app is pretty cool and the movies are really clear with video quality at 360p it’s more than enough for any mobile phone. Lets hear your thoughts in the comment section, would you pay N1750 a month for this app?

PhonesThe Down Hill Story Of Blackberry by NaijaGeeks(op): 11:13am On Jul 21, 2016
The woes of BlackBerry Limited, the Canadian company that produces the BlackBerry range of smartphones seems to be deepening every day. Last year, reports coming in from Morgan Stanley indicated that the BlackBerry Classic and Passport brought in combined sales figures as low as 8,000 units in March 2015, a few months after their release.

The fact that the company never released any official figures to refute the claims was suspicious on all ends.

Like this was not bad enough, in February of this year, WhatsApp the most popular messaging app in the world announced that it would no longer support BlackBerry devices after 2016.

BlackBerry smartphones with their encrypted programs have earned the title of the most secure devices in the world, and this have made them the device of choice for the American government, President of the United States and government workers in the United States of America.

The US Senate last week decided to discontinue issuing BlackBerry smartphones as their official devices. They gave officials permission to switch over to iPhones if they want.

Popular gadget leaker Evan Blass published specs on Ventureat of three new Android devices — Neon, Argon, and Mercury — that BlackBerry was working to be released towards the end of the year and in the first quarter of 2017, and I had to say I was impressed as usual by them.

Nevertheless, at this point, maybe new devices are not exactly what the BlackBerry brand needs. Reports have stated that these devices may be the last put out by the smartphone makers. The churning out of new smartphones seems to be working against the company as they have lost a foothold in the smartphone market long ago. Whether the company cares to admit it or not, they are no longer a dominant force in the mobile market as before.

With all the talk of high level security and encryption, the company can slowly ease off hardware manufacturing, take a cue from Microsoft and focus on making its BlackBerry Enterprise Server a universal platform for smartphones. This may sound far fetched but is achievable if all the energies been expended on smartphones and hardware is channeled into it.

PhonesWhatsapp To Drop It's $1 Annual Fee by NaijaGeeks(op): 4:25pm On Jan 18, 2016
Many Nigerians would be happy to hear that Whatsapp is killing this feature, with experience have seen many people dump the app because of the $1 payment. The only way to get around this $1 payment then was to change your phone, with this good news now many nigerians who can not afford to pay or to get a new phone can use the service for as long as they want

the one dollar a year charge might not sound like much, but still prevents many people from using the service in particular, those without access to card payments. If WhatsApp wants to become the messaging service of the masses, it needs to be entirely free, much like most of its competition.
Koum said that aside from being an obstacle for some users, the once-a-year payment wasn't working all that well. Not least, because it gave some users anxiety that service might suddenly stop, it also doesn't hurt to curry a little favor in some of your biggest potential markets

Technology MarketLG Wants To Triple Its Solar Panel Production By 2020 by NaijaGeeks(op): 5:35pm On Jan 13, 2016
LG's is famous for producing consumer electronics, the business has been pumping out high resolution TVs and other gadgets, its solar panel division has apparently been making plans for its expansion, as well. The company has revealed that it's spending $435 million to add more six more production lines to its facility in Korea. By doing so, it hopes to increase its annual solar cell production from 1GW to 1.8GW by 2018 and ultimately to 3GW by 2020.

LG says 3GW is equivalent to the yearly power consumption of a million households, hence the increase in its solar cell production could change the way a lot of people use electricity. "LG has been actively involved in the solar energy business for two decades," company president Lee Sang-bong said, "and we believe that mainstream consumers are more than ready to give solar more serious consideration."

HealthScientists Take Detailed Pictures Of The Smallest Known Life Forms by NaijaGeeks(op): 2:29pm On Mar 03, 2015
Just how small can life get? Almost unbelievably small, if you ask a team of Berkeley Lab researchers. They've taken the first detailed electron microscope pictures of the tiniest bacteria known to date -- at a typical 0.009 cubic microns in volume, you could fit 150 of them in an already miniscule e. coli cell. Scientists had to catch the hard-to-spot microbes by using a new portable cryo plunger, which flash-froze groundwater to near absolute zero (about -458F) to keep the cells intact while they were in transit.

The snapshots may not look like much, but they're revealing a lot about lifeforms at this extremely miniscule size. For one thing, their metabolisms are so minimal that they likely depend on resources from other bacteria to stay alive. While there's still a lot that remains a mystery (it's not certain what half of the genes do), this up-close imagery could eventually fill in a lot of blanks in biology -- it's clear that there's a world of unusual organisms that have gone largely unnoticed.
