The Ebonyi State government has sought partnership with a Chinese firm, CAMC Engineering Company Ltd, in the area of power, agriculture, mining, manufacturing and health. Governor David Umahi while receiving a delegation from UNIDO and CAMCE at the Governor’s Lodge in Abakaliki on Wednesday, said, “On the issue of power, hospital, mining, agriculture, industry we are very much interested.” He specifically told the officials of the Chinese company led by the Director-General, Yu Tao, that his administration would be highly delighted if they could build a 10MW solar plant in the state. “We will like if we can get like 5MW to 10MW solar plant to light up the streets in our towns. This is very important to us because we need to extend business hours and check crimes in the state,” the governor said. Umahi, who described Chinese investors as very reliable and dependable, thanked the UNIDO for being another strong development partner, assisting the state in various sectors like rice mills, ICT and provision of medical solar lamps. Adding that the Chinese are very prudent in management, he assured all intending investors of safety and conducive environment. “We find it very fascinating working with the Chinese because they are very serious-minded people. They are not extravagant. When I gave some bridges to some Chinese to build for us, they brought certain kinds of equipment. So people started texting me, asking ‘are these not multinational companies? Why is it that their equipment are not reflecting this? “I said to them ‘wait for them to start work and see what they will produce. And so when they started, people, including some in government, began to wonder that a company that can do quality job like Julius Berger is in Ebonyi State. Umahi, who had earlier noted the giant strides of his administration particularly in the provision of electricity and street lights across the state, described Ebonyians as very honest and hardworking people. He. however. told the team which was led to the meeting by the UNIDO Country Representative, Dr. Chuma Ezedinma, and the Managing Director of UrbanTech Engineering Ltd, Kingsley Agha, that they needed to quickly tidy up all arrangements to enable them start work on the power, agriculture, mining, manufacturing and health sectors. “Let me mark it that the only bad behaviour we have is that we are very much in a hurry. We have no patience at all when it comes to development. We don’t want projects that will be on the table for six months before takeoff. We want to start moving as quickly as possible”, he said. Earlier, Ezedinma, who introduced the delegation, said that he was pleased with Governor Umahi’s efforts to develop the state. He mentioned the 5MW Rice Husk Power Plant as one area the governor had consistently been on his neck to get started. Also, Agha, who gave reasons for the visit, praised Engr. Umahi and Ezedinma for their desire to open up the South-East to the rest of the world. He asked Governor Umahi to visit the head office of CAMCE in China for a first hand information on the capacity and capability of the Chinese engineering giant. Tao, after presenting a gift to the governor, had also explained that they were in Ebonyi to partner the state in the area of agriculture, mining, hospital and industry. He described Ebonyi State as the best in the country in terms of security, judging from its peaceful disposition and conducive environment for investors. He lauded Governor Umahi for taking the state to a greater height through his development initiatives. https://www.today.ng/news/national/142226/umahi-receives-chinese-engineering-giant-seeks-10mw-solar-power-plant |

The former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi was sentenced to life imprisonment following an espionage trial in an Egyptian court. “I don’t believe in gender equality. I do not believe that God made man and woman to be equal in any way. I believe that in every organised institution, there is always a head and an assistant. It doesn’t mean that one should take the other for granted, or disrespect the other. I believe the husband is the head of the home and the wife is an assistant. My husband is a pilot, I have flown with him several times and I understood that here is a captain and a co-pilot. They are both responsible for the passengers’ lives. But when there is a final decision to make, it is up to the captain to make it. He is more experienced and the one with the responsibility.” “When there is a quarrel, I usually apologise first. He doesn’t say sorry. Overtime, I have come to realise that it is an ego problem. Even when he knows he is wrong, he will rather do every other thing or buy things for me than say, ‘I’m sorry.’ Fortunately, the ‘sorrys’ are not too many. He is very responsible and more hardworking than me. By God’s grace, we have been able to understand our routine.” ― SHARE if you agree

Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, on Saturday, called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to release the official result of the June 12, 1993, Presidential Election, won by Bashorun M.K.O Abiola. In a statement to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of June 12, the ARG chairman, Olawale Oshun, said President Muhammadu Buhari, as the beneficiary of a ballot revolution that mostly mirrored that of 1993, owed Nigerians the duty of declassifying the result, particularly now that 23 years had elapsed and the Official Secret Act could no longer be binding on the document. ARG, according to the statement, believe releasing the result would “reverse the stigma occasioned by the foolish act of canceling that election, adjudged to be the most peaceful in the history of Nigeria.” The group said releasing the result would also open up the “hypocrisy” of military rule and help project democracy as a better form of governance. “June 12 is no longer a struggle but now an obligation,” the statement said. “The people have played their own part. It is now the obligation of the beneficiaries of that struggle to set the country on a truly democratic path by deliberately replacing every stamp of military rule on Nigeria’s nationhood, including the imposed governance structure and constitution, through democratic rights and tenets. There is no alternative way to deepen democracy in Nigeria. “Let nobody be deceived. Until the federal government takes conscious steps to restructure Nigeria, the country will continue to wobble from one crisis of nationhood.” The group further stated that continuing to ignore calls to publish the result would amount to a tacit support by elected officials for everything that transpired during the military era, a reason that, it said, military rule had transited to ‘do or die’ politics and citizens believed they had a right to take up arms against their country. “ARG therefore called on President Buhari, as a former military ruler and now a self-confessed democrat, to see himself as best poised to help Nigeria make this transition. This can be his best legacy and the starting point, we dare say, is to release the June 12 presidential election result and its winner appropriately recognised and honoured.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/release-results-of-june-12-1993-presidential-poll-afenifere-group-urges-buhari/ |

Royal Dutch Shell, the largest oil producing company in Nigeria, which has suffered series of attacks on its 48-inch Forcados export pipeline that links onshore storage tanks with an offshore port, has ruled out the repair of the pipeline for now. The Chief Financial Officer of Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Mr. Simon Henry, while noting that the various attacks on the oil facilities in the Niger Delta region were signs of alarm among foreign oil companies, pointed out that in the past, energy companies could repair pipelines after attacks, but recent attacks were more destructive than in the past. Henry said: “We cannot operate or repair if our people are threatened. It is not possible at this time. In the past, energy companies were able to repair pipelines after attacks, barring a few exceptions deep into the region’s swamps and creeks. The attacks are more destructive than in the past.” Meanwhile, oil prices, on Tuesday, rose with Brent reaching a near eight-month high in what energy experts attributed to the unrest in Nigeria as well as owing to dollar weakness. Benchmark oil Brent North Sea crude reached $51.08 a barrel, the highest level since October 12. Around 13:20, Brent for delivery in August was slightly off the high at $51.04 but still a rise of 49 cents compared with Monday’s close. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for July delivery gained 41c to $50.10 a barrel. Chief analyst at Commodities SEB Markets, Bjarne Schieldrop, said: “The loss of supply from Nigeria is highly important on several accounts. For one it of course helps to tighten up the market. Secondly, Nigeria’s crude is light and sweet and thus of a comparable quality to Brent crude.” https://www.today.ng/news/national/134145/rules-repair-damaged-oil-facility |
MEND YOUR CRIMINAL DAYS ARE OVER. We appeal to the general public and all sane minds on the activities of Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to disregards all purported statements and misplaced threat emanating from disbanded criminal elements like the so-called MEND (Movement For the Emancipation of The Niger Delta) that are political sidekicks and desperations from Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Mr. Timipre Silva and their political paymasters to hold their political party to the jugular of the affairs of the Niger Delta Region. That our struggle is focused on the liberation of the People of Niger Delta from decades of divisive rule and exclusion. We are watching keenly their regretful efforts at rebranding and regrouping criminal elements in the region for their short political gains and territories. The NDA is unperturbed, we have mandate that is clearly a departure of those old tactics of the defunct so-called MEND that was indulged in kidnapping, hostage taking, Sea piracy, illegal oil bunkering, bank robberies and social crimes, the likes of Boyloafs, Ateke Toms, were associated to in their days in the name struggle. The wind of change in the Niger Delta struggle has come, we are are young, smart, and focused Niger deltans. Our mandate is to liberate the Niger Delta people; we don’t run after pipeline contracts. "Chinwe and Sam were course mates and fellowship members in the University. As a result, they were very close, always doing things together daily. Chinwe misconstrued this as being in a relationship. Sam, on his own, was enjoying the friendship and was prepared to do anything for chinwe, who did not hesitate to expose her past and future to sam. . But she never observed that Sam never told her about his own life. . All brothers that desired to marry chinwe thought she was already engaged to Sam. . After schooling, they were both posted to the North for service. As a result, they both exchanged regular visits. . After service, they returned to Lagos and got good employment. Six months later, Sam sent his wedding invitation card to Chinwe, who was so affected that it landed her in the hospital. . When Sam was queried, he said he never thought of marrying her as he was already engaged before meeting her. He concluded that he only saw her like his younger sister and nothing more. . When Chinwe was confronted with the fact that sam never proposed marriage to her, she was dazed. It was then she realised her folly". . This is very common among youths. They assume about relationship most of the time, thereby setting up themselves for great disappointment. . The danger is, everybody will assume you are engaged while you are hoping the brother is taking his time and will propose soonest. . WHAT TO DO . 1. As a lady, define all your relationships. If a brother is becoming too close without disclosing his intention, ask him what he wants from you. . 2. Don't be too close to any brother to the point that people will start to insinuates. . 3. Never allow a brother propose with proverbs or idioms to you. Pretend as if you don't know what he is saying until he comes straight. For example, if he says, "Let me be the umbrella on your head", tell him, "I am not in the sun and i do not need an umbrella". . 4. Avoid cooking for brothers unnecessarily. Most brothers love food and will do anything to keep the source of their good food, even if it means pretending they are in love. . 5. Do not help a brother by proposing for him. . ANY BROTHER THAT IS NOT BOLD ENOUGH TO PROPOSE TO YOU IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE YOUR HUSBAND. Brothers should be bold to propose simply, concisely and directly without proverbs or idioms. . 6. Get a direct "YES" or "NO" from a lady; do not assume.. A Word Is Enough For The Wise. |

16 COL. GADDAFI'S SINS TO LIBYANS: 1. There is no electricity bill in Libya, electricity is free for all its citizens. 2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law. 3. Home considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent. 4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$50,000 ) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family. 5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi, only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%. 6. If Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farm land, a farming house, equipment, seeds and livestock to kick- start their farms – all for free. 7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US $2,300/mth accommodation and car allowance. 8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price. 9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0. 14 per liter. 10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally. 11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation, the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found. 12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens. 13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US $5,000 14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $0.15 15. 25% of Libyans have a university degree. 16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man- Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country. If this is called "Dictatorship" I wonder what type of Leadership Democrats have. |

Russian President Vladmir Putin has issued a stern warning against NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) saying his country's military will retaliate against NATO missiles after the U.S launched a ground-based missile defense system earlier this month in Romania, a country very close to Russia. The U.S claim the missile system is meant to defend Europe against rogue states like Iran and not intended to target Moscow's missiles but Putin says he will do anything to protect his country and it's security forces even if it mean's retaliating against NATO. NATO, said the missiles could not be used offensively as they don't include explosives and are designed to simply "punch" targets out of the sky and have slammed Putin's threats calling it 'unjustified and irresponsible'. Putin issued his threat during a news conference Friday after meeting with Greek Prime Minister Aleksis Tsipras in Athens. "If yesterday in those areas of Romania people simply didn't know what it means to be in the cross hairs, then today we will be forced to carry out certain measures to ensure our security," Putin said. "Any threats from Russia are unjustified and irresponsible," said NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu. "Russia knows full well that our Ballistic Missile Defense system is defensive and neither designed nor directed against Russia." "It will be the same case with Poland," Putin warned. "We will wait until Poland takes certain action. We won't take any action until we see rockets in areas that neighbor us." Military officials in the U.S are taking Putin's threats seriously, as the Russian president is one who never goes back on his threats. "I don't think he wants to get into an armed confrontation with NATO," Military analyst Lt. Col. Rick Francona (ret.) told CNN. "but of course Washington has to look at this. He is a very maniacal personality and we're not quite sure how he's going to react to this." The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is an intergovernmental military alliance that constitutes a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. NATO currently has 28 member countries namely Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, United States, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary,Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia,Albania and Croatia. A Russian retaliation against NATO will likely cause a World War 3. Source: CNN And http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2016/05/russian-president-putin-warns-hell.html?m=1 Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 |
Soldiers deployed to a checkpoint along Bauchi to Jos road on Saturday shot in error, a bus conveying policemen travelling from Taraba to Kaduna. Headquarters of the 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi confirmed the incident on Sunday, describing it as unfortunate. Maj. Joseph Afolasade, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 33 Artillery Brigade, said in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, that the error was a result of the refusal of the driver of the bus to stop at the checkpoint for routine checks of occupants. “The Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade wishes to inform the general public that on 28th May 2016, at about 2:14pm, the troops deployed at Panshanu check-point along Bauchi-Jos road, opened fire on a bus. “The bus drove dangerously through the checkpoint and refused to stop when flagged down on suspicion that it might be conveying terrorists or armed criminal elements, while approaching the check point. Regrettably, one person died and 3 others sustained injuries in the process. Preliminary investigation confirmed the identity of the occupants to be policemen who were in mufti coming from Taraba State to Kaduna for an interview. “The Brigade urges all motorists, irrespective of status, to always obey the stop sign at all the check points to avoid reoccurrence of this unfortunate incident,” it said. The Brigade urged member of the public to be conscious of the current situation in the country, especially the on-going operation in the North East to clear the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists from their hideouts. “This is sufficient cause for all to abide by the rules at check points in the interest of all. The cooperation of the entire populace is necessary in the fight against insurgency and criminality,” it advised. It however said the situation had been brought under control and the road, opened to traffic. https://www.today.ng/news/national/129234/soldiers-open-fire-policemen-error-bauchi-jos-road |
President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday failed to give specific details of recovered loot as part of his anti-corruption war during his Democracy Day speech, consequently reneging on an earlier promise he made to that effect. Mr. Buhari had on May 14 said in London that he would personally provide specific details of all recovered stolen public funds because he believed that what Nigerians were being fed through the media were not detailed enough. “So far, what has come out, what has been recovered in whatever currency from each ministries, departments and individuals, I intend on the 29th to speak on this because all Nigerians are getting from the mass media because of the number of people arrested either by the EFCC, DSS. But we want to make a comprehensive report on the 29th,” Mr. Buhari said while attending the anti-corruption summit in London. But during his nationwide broadcast on Sunday morning, the president only repeated previous claims that his administration was grappling with bureaucratic hurdles that make it difficult for stolen assets to be recovered from foreign jurisdictions. “We are also engaged in making recoveries of stolen assets some of which are in different jurisdictions. The processes of recovery can be tedious and time consuming, but today I can confirm that thus far: significant amount of assets have been recovered. A considerable portion of these are at different stages of recovery. Rather than personally speak on the matter and provide specific details as promised, Mr. Buhari only said he had directed the Ministry of Information to periodically publish details on the assets recovered so far. “Full details of the status and categories of the assets will now be published by the Ministry of Information and updated periodically. When forfeiture formalities are completed these monies will be credited to the treasury and be openly and transparently used in funding developmental projects and the public will be informed,” Mr. Buhari said. Based on the President’s May 14 promise, millions of Nigerians had on Sunday morning stayed glued to their radio and TV for the Democracy Day speech. Some of them said they were dissappointed that Mr. Buhari failed to keep his promise. The president and his government have of recent come under pressure to publicly substantiate his claims that billions of dollars have been recovered through the administration’s intensified war against graft. Meanwhile, Mr. Buhari repeated his ministers’ claim that the administration had been able to successfully eliminate 43,000 ‘ghost’ workers that were costing the government N4.2 billion every month from the federal payroll. “An important first step has been to get our housekeeping right. So we have reduced the extravagant spending of the past. We started boldly with the treasury single account, stopping the leakages in public expenditure. “In addition, we will save Twenty-Three Billion Naira per annum from official travelling and sitting allowances alone,” Mr. Buhari said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/204253-buhari-fails-keep-promise-release-details-looters-recovered-assets.html
