BusinessLet's Talk Social: Facebook, X, Instagram, Whatsapp, Telegram, Tiktok? by NaijaM(op): 1:54pm On Jun 24, 2024
Today, social media has dominated user attention, despite the intrusive crypto and AI platforms. We have both disruptive and global social platforms for online interactions, communications and engagements. In Nigeria, we do have some few useful brands for user-provided news feeds, e.g. Nairaland.com; for group interactions e.g. Diskox.com, and for social communication and user-generated contents e.g. Okpara.net

There may actually be some other genuine social media startups in Nigeria, which are underutilized.

The question is, which of the Nigerian brands do you spend most of your time on?

Are there some other Nigerian brands that you know and care to mention here for others to know.

On June 06, a Nigerian man launched a new social media, somehow similar to Facebook. It seems he took his time in developing it.

I think he did a good job, you can make your own observations and constructive criticisms.

EducationWhat If Facebook Is Banned? by NaijaM(op): 4:19pm On Jul 08, 2021
Nigerians that were making money with their Twitter.com account are currently counting their losses. Those using VPN seems to be taking a lot of risks or compromises.
We know of Telegram, Signal and WhatsApp; but what if the owners of WhatsApp (i.e. Facebook.com), gets banned? Are there available local alternatives to Twitter and Facebook? The answer is "yes", at least, we know of www.unity.ng, which is actually both a social ecosystem for Nigerian media and communication, and a cyberspace community of people in Nigeria.

BusinessWww.twitter.com Is Out, Www.unity.ng Is In! by NaijaM(op): 4:03pm On Jul 08, 2021
With the way things are going on between the Federal Government and Twitter.... Nigerian's are seeking other micro blogging alternatives.
Nigerian youths in indigenous tech sector are striving to bridge the gap; though other foreign tech giants have already started taking up Twitter's share as a result of the ban on Twitter.

Today, a platform that stands out among other social media in Nigeria is gradually gaining momentum due to its high innovation and tech features. This Nigerian platform, www.unity.ng, is really a good alternative even to Facebook for Nigerians.

BusinessTwitter's Replacement In Nigeria by NaijaM(op):
The Indian's are trying to take over the Nigerian Twitter's market with their "koo" app, formerly, "Ku Koo Ku".

The owner of the Nigerian Social platform, www.unity.ng, however, has said that there are no plans yet to enter the Nigerian micro blogging market.

Unity.ng as at, 06-06-2021, is the only Nigerian social alternative to Facebook.

Facebook has been watching the development and challenge posed by the only social media platform similar to it for a while now. But as soon as it was released, Facebook made sure that you can't post it in anything or anywhere on Facebook. Any attempt to share it with anybody is not allowed. So one can wonder if Facebook is afraid to compete with such a small newcomer. The website is www.unity.ng
