Black Rock City is the official name for the Burning Man camp which is constructed every year in the Nevada desert It has its own streets - with street names - cinema, bus service, and even an airport for the 65,000 inhabitants Including the inner circle, where the Man sculpture stands, it occupies and area the size of downtown San Francisco The city is constructed every year for the week the festival lasts, and is then completely removed at the end It may have been battered by 40mph winds, choked by desert dust, and overrun by huge biting insects, but that doesn't seem to have put anyone off attending this year's Burning Man festival, as these stunning aerial shots of the campground show. Stretching for miles in a massive semi-circle in the middle of Nevada, Black Rock City - as it is known - will be home to around 65,000 residents as they live and party for seven days in a celebration of alternative living. Complete with its own cinema, clubs, places of worship, bus service and even an airport - code 88NX - the gigantic city is assembled as part of a yearly experiment before being completely dismantled and hauled away before beginning again next year. While close-up views of the campsite make it seem a disorganized mess, from far up in the sky the meticulous planning that goes into building the city each year become apparent. WARNING: DISTRESSING IMAGES A three-year-old boy washed up on a holiday beach in Turkey - the heartbreaking human face of a tragedy the world can no longer ignore His journey began in the killing fields of Syria as he desperately fled a country ravaged by war, torture and oppression. But five-year-old Galip Kurdi now lies dead on a popular tourist beach after the flimsy boats carrying him and 20 others capsized off the shore of Turkey on the perilous trip. His younger brother Aylan, three, and mother were also among 12 who died. And as David Cameron defiantly rejects calls to allow more refugees into Britain, this is the picture that should shame the PM and other European leaders who turn their backs on the plights of people so desperate to flee Syria they would rather die trying. The tragic brothers were washed up on the beach at Bodrum in Turkey – a resort visited by hundreds of thousands of British holidaymakers each year. As the dying continues, Labour have begged Mr Cameron to allow 10,000 refugees in from Syria. The UK has so far accepted 240 under a UN scheme. Germany, which plans to welcome 800,000 this year, branded Britain the “slackers of Europe” over the continent’s worst humanitarian crisis since World War Two. Google has unveiled a new logo for its core search services. The change smoothes out some of the features in the letters that make up the well-known colourful logo spelling out its name. It said the change was needed because people were now reaching Google on lots of mobile devices rather than just desktop computers. The change comes after Google put its many divisions under an umbrella company called Alphabet. It said that the logo, and its many variations, would work better on the many different-sized screens through which people used or encountered Google and its services. As well as the full logo of the company's name, it also plans to use four dots in its signature blue, red, yellow and green colours and a single, multi-coloured capital "G" to represent it. Google announced the change on its official blog and illustrated what was different via a series of animated gifs. It said the revamped logo was "simple, uncluttered, colorful, friendly" and represented the best of Google. t also provided a much more detailed explanation of what drove it to change the logo. One key challenge for the designers, it said, was to refine "what makes us Googley". Google last updated its logo in September 2013. Writing on Creative Review, Mark Sinclair said the shift was significant because before now Google had resisted doing the same as other tech companies many of which adopted a "simpler and often blander" look when they updated their official insignia. By contrast, he said, Google had kept its "scrappier demeanour" but this latest update showed the company had indeed "smartened itself up". www.nairaroot.com

A Christian official who refused to issue marriage licences to same-sex couples in Kentucky has been ordered to do so by the US Supreme Court. Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis had argued that her faith prevented her from carrying out her duty. But the Supreme Court rejected her argument, which means she now has no more legal avenues to pursue. Her lawyer has said she will pray tonight and decide what to do when her office opens on Tuesday. Since the court legalised gay marriage nationwide two months ago, Ms Davis has refused to issue any marriage licences to anyone. The American Civil Liberties Union sued her on behalf of four couples, two gay and two straight. In making its ruling on Monday, without any comment, the Supreme Court also denied her request for a stay while she pursues an appeal. If she continues to refuse to issue licences, she could be held in contempt of court, which could lead to a prison sentence. SOURCE; BBC UK www.nairaroot.com

Fragments of the oldest Koran were discovered last month in Birmingham. Carbon dating found the pages were produced between 568AD and 654AD. But several historians now say that the parchment may predate Muhammad. They believe that this discovery could rewrite the early history of Islam. Fragments of the world's oldest Koran, found in Birmingham last month, may predate the Prophet Muhammad and could even rewrite the early history of Islam, according to scholars. The pages, thought to be between 1,448 and 1,371 years old, were discovered bound within the pages of another Koran from the late seventh century at the library of the University of Birmingham. Written in ink in an early form of Arabic script on parchment made from animal skin, the pages contain parts of the Suras, or chapters, 18 to 20, which may have been written by someone who actually knew the Prophet Muhammad - founder of the Islamic faith. The pages were carbon-dated by experts at the University of Oxford, a process which showed the Islamic holy book manuscript could be the oldest Koran in the world. The discovery was said to be particularly significant as in the early years of Islam, the Koran was thought to have been memorised and passed down orally rather written. But now several historians have said that the parchment might even predate Muhammad. It is believed that the Birmingham Koran was produced between 568AD and 645AD, while the TO COMPLETE THE STORY, CLICK HERE:http://www.nairaroot.com/fragments-of-koran-found-that-predates-islam/#.VeRoyM5wbVR

Suspect Vesper Lee Flanagan - who worked at the station under the name Bryce Williams - shot himself a short time after the footage was uploaded The suspected gunman police are hunting over the murder of two TV journalists appears to have posted sick footage of the murder on Twitter. Suspected shooter Vesper Lee Flanagan - who worked at the WDBJ7 station under the name Bryce Williams - shot himself a short time after the footage was uploaded, police have confirmed. He is said to be in a critical condition. Williams, 41, appeared to have uploaded footage of the shooting on his Twitter and Facebook accounts. The 20-second clip shows the shooter approaching reporter Alison Parker before pointing a gun at her. She is then seen running away as shots are fired. A series of accusations were also posted on Twitter before the footage was uploaded. He accused Ms Parker of making racist comments and said Mr Ward had made a report to the station's HR department about him. He then chillingly said: "I filmed the shooting see Facebook". The accounts have since been deleted. Bryce was at one stage being chased by six police cars but appeared to have posted the footage while under pursuit. Officials say he shot himself at 11.25am around four-and-a-half hours after the shooting. Alison and photographer Adam Ward, 27, were both killed while working on an interview for the WBDJ channel in Moneta, Virginia, this morning. WDBJ reporter Alison was interviewing Vicki Gardner about a local news story at approximately 6.45am local time when the shots rang out. Ms Gardner was shot in the back and was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries. Both women screamed as the camera fell to the floor at approximately 6.45am local time. The TV audience then gets the briefest glimpse of a man, who police believe is the gunman, appearing to pointing a gun towards the downed cameraman. The broadcast before it cuts back to a stunned Kimberly McBroom in the studio. A man standing near the two women, dressed in dark clothing and holding what appears to be a gun, is briefly seen in news clip, standing by the women. He calmly steps away from the scene before the video cuts away. Williams is a former employee of the station and was described an an 'experienced reporter' at the time he was hired. The station is said to have received a 23-page fax from Williams yesterday which has now been handed over to police. In a series of heartbreaking tweets, TV news anchor Chris Hurst said he had been in a relationship with Alison unknown to the viewers and the couple were planning to get married. "We were together almost nine months," he wrote. "It was the best nine months of our lives. We wanted to get married. We just celebrated her 24th birthday. "She was the most radiant woman I ever met. And for some reason she loved me back. She loved her family, her parents and her brother. "She was the most radiant woman I ever met. And for some reason she loved me back. She loved her family, her parents and her brother. "This is unconscionable. But I WILL share her story because it is one full of life, dreams, love and amazing journalism. "She just finished working on an incredible special on child abuse and it was fantastic. We will get through this and there will be justice. Your thoughts and prayers mean the world to me." Announcing the deaths, WDBJ-TV's Mr Marks said: "It is my very, very sad duty to report that we have determined through the help of the police and our own employees that Alison and Adam died this morning shortly after 6.45 after the shots rang out." He continued to pay tribute during the sombre broadcast, in which station employees could be heard crying in the background. Anchor Kimberly McBroom added: "These two were more than what you saw here on TV, they were much, much more. The 24-year-old was described as the 'rock star of the station' by heartbroken colleagues who bravely continued to broadcast as news of their colleagues deaths came in. Adam was engaged to station producer Melissa Ott, a producer at the station, who was in its control room when the shootings were broadcast. It was thought to be her last day at the station, before she started a new job in North Carolina. Adam planned to move with her, and there had been a leaving celebration earlier that morning. Following the shooting several police forces around the country including in New York have increased security at TV stations. When Laura was fired from her first job for too much partying, it was a wake up call. Here’s how she rose to the top and built her own social media empire A 32-year-old woman has told of how she went from being fired from her first job for partying too hard – to being CEO of a £10 million company. Laura Ward-Ongley, who admitted she “flunked” her A-Levels, dropped out of a top London university to take on a role as a receptionist at a private equity firm. But she soon became sucked into the capital’s party scene – which ended up costing her her job. “I’d come from the countryside up to the Big Smoke and I was just wowed by the bright lights of the big city,” she said. “I didn’t feel stimulated at university. I couldn’t wait to get out there and start working.” After two months of rejection and unsuccessful applications, Laura, of Wiltshire, was offered a job as a receptionist. With her offices in the heart of London’s West End, she had a playground of exclusive clubs and bars on her doorstep. Slowly, she got more and more pulled into the party lifestyle – so much so, that it began to affect her work. One club she frequented was Chinawhite, famed for its celebrity clientele, which includes Prince Harry and scores of Premier League footballers. The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam, has revealed the dubious practice by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke in selling crude to India through intermediaries, thus denying Nigeria’s treasury of the full proceed. India is now Nigeria’s number one crude buyer, an importation that grosses $15 billion yearly. But under Diezani Alison-Madueke, commission agents creamed away some of the billions, when Nigeria’s treasury ought to have enjoyed the full benefit. Nigeria is the only oil producing nation selling its oil this way. Other nations make the sale, country-country. “From other countries, when we buy oil, whatever we want to pay, we pay to the Ministry of Finance of that country. In Nigeria, we pay to intermediaries. US government finally admits that cannabis kills cancer cells Everyone from hippies to several creditable scientists have previously argued that smoking or ingesting the herb can have medicinal benefits The US government has thrown its weight behind the earth-shattering claims that cannabis kills cancer cells. Everyone from hippies to conspiracy theorists and even several creditable scientists have previously argued that smoking or ingesting the herb can have medicinal benefits. Cancer kills up to 20,000 people worldwide every day, according to global health estimates Health researchers for the US government claim that cannabinoids - the active ingredients in cannabis - can inhibit the illness by causing cell death and blocking key blood vessels needed by tumours to grow. They say studies in mice and rats show cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells - while still protecting normal cells Key chemical ingredients in marijuana were found effective in fighting against colon cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer and several other forms of the disease. It was also suggested that cannabidiol can boost the effectiveness of chemotherapy - without any of the nasty side effects. A health researcher on the US government's Cancer.org website claimed: "Studies in mice and rats have shown that cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells. "A study in mice showed that cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment. "A laboratory study of delta-9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed that it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in mouse models of liver cancer showed that it had antitumor effects." http://www.nairaroot.com/cannabis-kills-cancer-cells/#.VdqrfMiL3IU

Imagine if you were born without any arms. How would you put on your make-up, text your friends, or eat with a knife and fork? Well, it hasn’t stopped 36-year-old Linda Bannon doing all of that. Born with the rare genetic disorder Holt-Oram syndrome, which affects the heart and causes skeletal abnormalities, Linda used prosthetic limbs until the age of 12, but cast them aside when she realised they were more of a hinderance than a help. Since then, she’s mastered the art of using her feet as hands, so she can swim, sew, write and play her guitar with the best of them. She certainly hasn’t let the condition (which affects one in 100,000) hold her back. And her sunny outlook is infectious. "I try to be as active as possible and figure out ways to adapt to all kinds of activities," she beams. "I’d say I’m quite an adventurous person." In fact, the only thing she leaves to her husband Rick, a hospital porter who she lives with in Chicago, is the driving – and that is for safety reasons. After meeting at the gym and playfully competing over weight-lifting and sit-ups, the two dated, fell in love and Rick later proposed at the same restaurant where they’d had their first date. It wasn’t long before they decided to start a family, but they had to accept the possibility their child might inherit Linda’s disorder – there was a 50 per cent chance. "We discussed having a family even before getting engaged. I always knew I wanted to be a mum, so it would have been a bit of a deal breaker," says Linda. "When Rick said he wanted kids too, we talked about the chance of them having similar disabilities to me, but he said, 'Yes, there may be challenges – but we could rise to them.'"
