Potassium: Apart from supporting growth, potassium helps maintain normal body function and controls osmotic pressure. Deficiency can lead to nervous disorders and irregular heartbeats. Sodium: Regulating osmotic pressure, sodium is crucial for preventing nervous disorders. Common salt (sodium chloride) is the primary source of sodium. Magnesium: Known as an activator of many enzymes, magnesium plays a role in controlling intestinal peptidase and bone phosphatase actions. Iron: Essential for hemoglobin and chromatin formation, iron deficiency can lead to anemia. Meat and green vegetables are significant sources. Sulphur: An essential component of proteins, sulphur is found in amino acids like cystine and methionine, contributing to the formation of feathers and bird eggs. Copper: A crucial component of hemocyanin in arthropods and mollusks, copper deficiency can cause nutritional anemia, especially in cattle. Cobalt: A constituent of vitamin Bp, cobalt aids in blood production. Zinc: Present in red blood cells, zinc plays a role in converting carbonic acid into carbon dioxide and water. Iodine: Essential for the formation of thyroxine hormone, iodine deficiency can lead to simple goitre. Drinking water and seafood are chief iodine sources.
