SportsRe: Women's Afrobasket 2025: Musa Leads Nigeria Entries For MVP Fan Vote Race by naptu2:
Murjanatu Musa grew up in Kebbi, where she's from. She also spent some time in Lagos and began playing football there. However, there was no football club in Kebbi for her to join, but there was a basketball programme in her secondary school in Kebbi, so she started playing basketball. She is one of the youngest members of D'Tigress, but she already has an Afrobasket gold medal.

Eniola Aluko's 2 countries.

Eniola Aluko was born in Lagos, but her family moved to the UK when she was a baby.

Aluko chose to play for England at international level. She said that Nigeria was very important to her and she was as Nigerian as she was British, but she chose to play for England because she was trained by English coaches. She played for England from 2004 to 2016.

She was a very successful striker, scoring lots of goals for England at the World Cup, Olympics and Euros. She also found success with Chelsea, Juventus and clubs in the United States.

However, in 2016 she lodged a complaint against the England manager, Mark Sampson. She said that the manager asked if her Nigerian relatives would come to an England game at Wembley and that she should make sure that the relatives did not bring ebola to the game.

On two occasions Mark Sampson denied that he ever said any such thing, while on another occasion he said that it was just a joke.

The Football Association investigated the matter and cleared the manager of any wrongdoing.

Eni Aluko was subjected to abuse on social media. The fans said that she just liked complaining.

Eni Aluko was not selected by the England national team again. In one of their matches, the players, led by a black player, pointedly went to celebrate with the manager.

However, a parliamentary committee decided to investigate the matter and they did a proper investigation. They found that the manager did make racist remarks to Eni Aluko and that he had also made racist remarks to another black player.

The Football Association paid £80,000 to Eni Aluko. They also sacked the manager, but they claimed that it was for another offence that he committed when he was coaching a clubside. Nikkita Paris, the player that had led the celebration with the manager, apologised to Eni Aluko.

However, Eni Aluko continued to receive hate messages on social media. The fans said that England had lost a good coach because she just likes complaining.

She never played for England again, but she continued her club career at Juventus. Since retiring from football she has worked as a television pundit and as a club executive.

Her younger brother, Sone Aluko, played for England from U-16 to U-19 levels and then played for Nigeria from U-20 to U-23 and senior levels.

She said that she has had a July to remember because both her countries won their continental competitions and she was able to attend both. She said that it's a great time for hyphenated people (British-Nigerians) because the Super Falcons won WAFCON and the Lionesses won the Women's Euros.

Precious Dede was our longest serving keeper. I was very worried about who would succeed her until Chiamaka came along.

Chiamaka has surpassed my expectations and significantly raised the standard.

It may be early days but who are we grooming to meet up to the high standard?

I look forward to seeing the following and more:

Faith Omilana

Anderline Mgbechi:

She won the 2025 Nigeria Women's Football League's Best Goalkeeper Award but also scored the decisive penalty to clinch the League title for Rivers Angels .

There were 3 players from that 2018 U-20 World Cup that I was sure would succeed in the Super Falcons. 2 of them have achieved that success, but the third is yet to make it.

I was sure that Chiamaka Nnadozie would succeed Tochukwu Oluehi in goal and that has happened.

I felt that Rasheedat Ajibade would succeed Asisat Oshoala on the right flank and that has happened.

I felt that Anam Imo would succeed Desire Oparanozie as center-forward, but that has not happened.

There are so many things that I couldn't fit into the thread. Hilda Baci and other stars were at the dinner yesterday. I was listening to the radio earlier this morning and the host of a sports show said that she was eager to leave the studio because she had to be at the breakfast for the Super Falcons this morning.

Esther Okoronkwo teaches Michelle Alozie how to speak Pidgin.

People have been asking where Esther Okoronkwo and Michelle Alozie are. They were not at the victory celebrations in Abuja.

I don't know exactly where they are, but they have been posting videos on social media and the locations (attached to the videos) is Ikeja.

Esther Okoronkwo was born in Umueze in Abia State. She spent part of her childhood there. The family then moved to Richmond, Texas in the United States when she was a child.

Michelle Alozie was born in La Jolla, California.

Esther Okoronkwo always posts funny videos on social media. She hosted a very funny talent competition on her social media pages (she takes it to the streets whenever she's in Lagos). She often uses all kinds of weird things as shin guards before matches.

Once when she was in Lagos she stuck thousand naira notes to a board and wrote, "Take one if you love Jesus, take more if you love Satan". One guy took more and said, "Jesus will understand".

Jennifer Echegini is enjoying Lagos. She wanted to open the window, but one of the other falcons told her not to, that she's in Lagos and they can steal her phone.

She said that she's enjoying the atmosphere and the vibe of the crowd.

The Super Falcons were meant to have an open top bus parade in Abuja, but it rained very heavily on the day that they came back, so the parade was cancelled.

However, it was sunny when the Falcons arrived Lagos yesterday and they had an open top bus parade in the city.

The Falcons also took the opportunity to visit their sponsors to thank them. They were at Nigerian Breweries Headquarters at Iganmu, at MTN Headquarters at Falomo, they were also at Tetrazzini and many other sponsors' offices. The sponsors gave them cash gifts, for example, Nigerian Breweries gave them ₦50 million.

Here are videos and photos of the parade.
