2028 Olympic Qualifier: Super Falcons Overcome Comoros 2-0 In First Leg

Second half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu secured a 2-0 away win for Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the first leg, second round of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualifier at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State on Friday,completesport.comreports.

After holding out to a goalless first half, Comoros resolve was finally broken on 48 minutes as Alozie opened the scoring after slotting home a headed assist from close range.
Then Kanu doubled the lead in the 59th minute as she headed home a well floated corner kick.

Despite playing the first leg in Ikenne, Comoros were the home team as they do not have a CAF approved stadium for the encounter.

The second leg comes up on Tuesday, 13 October in the same venue with the winner over the two legs progressing to the third round where they will face either Morocco or DR Congo.

While the Super Falcons got a bye to the second round, Comoros reached this stage after thrashing Sudan 30-0 on aggregate (17-0 and 13-0) in the first round.

The Super Falcons went into the tie with Comoros on the back of a disastrous 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they lost 1-0 to eventual champions Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

The defeat to Cameroon cost the Super Falcons an automatic qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

However, the team had a chance to be at the World Cup via the African play-in but lost 2-1 to South Africa, which ended their hopes of making it to the tournament.

NONE of you have a structure in ALL polling units.
If anyone has built and maintained a structure across polling units especially in the North, post the evidence.

For the past 3 years, I have toured Nigeria, especially the North, spending MY OWN MONEY to identify, mobilise and build a network of people across ALL polling units. I have done the hard work that many of you are too lazy, too broke, and too unwilling to do.

I do not have to come online to post pictures of everywhere I visit, everybody I meet or everything I do just to prove that I am working. That is a sick form of clout, and I am not one to chase it.
I am interested in building something that can outlive an election cycle.

I am not just brilliant, I am as crazy as I am intelligent, so I can dare cross even a firing squad to achieve my goal (I have actually done that before, TWICE).

I AM NOT OBLIGATED TO TURN MY SACRIFICES INTO CONTENT TO MAKE THEM BELIEVABLE TO YOU.
I have never been a content creator, it is not my line of duty.

HYPOCRISY OF THE GROUP

However, here we must try to differentiate politics in general from party politics. In some countries mostly in Latin America such as Bolivia, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico and others, priests are constitutionally barred from becoming presidents. Many priests in the United States contested for political posts in the past, something the Church frowned at due to the separation of Church and State. In the 1917 Code, it was stated that no clergy should contest for political office without the permission of his competent ordinary or superior. Finally, in the 1983 Code, the clergy were definitively barred from party politics (cf. Can 285 §3). This was an aftermath of John Paul II´s public condemnation of priests holding political offices in 1980.

Hence, the case of Fr. Moses Adasu contesting a gubernatorial post means not being in good stand with the Church. He was later reinstated. This was not the only case. In 2008 when Bishop Fernando Lugo became the president of Paraguay, he was laicised from the clerical state.

He sought the approval of the church to venture into partisan politics. However, the church withheld its approval, quoting section 287, paragraph 2 of the Canon Law, which states that the clergy are not to play an active role in partisan politics or in directing trade unions unless, in the judgment of the competent ecclesiastical authority, this is required for the defence of the rights of the church or to promote the common good.

However, Fr. Adasu insisted and ventured into partisan politics on the platform of the SDP, where he contested in the Benue State gubernatorial elections in 1991and defeated Mr. Ignatius Ayua of the National Republican Convention (NRC). He served as Governor, Benue State from 1992 to 1993.The military interrupted with the administration and Fr. Adasu returned back to the pulpit as catholic priest where he served at Adikpo and Ikyogen.
