The Federal Government previously gave Lagos 35 CNG buses.
They gave Lagos 35 additional CNG and electric buses last week.
This company is injecting 50 CNG buses into the Lagos network, beginning with 15 now and the remainder before the end of the year.
Dana gave Lagos 30 CNG buses.
The Lagos State Government is bringing 2,000 additional CNG buses.
Oando has been test running electric BRT buses for more than a year. The test period is over and they have shipped 50 electric buses to Lagos and 500 more will be brought in.

Deployment of Additional CNG Buses Signals New Phase in Lagos Public
Transport Transformation
The transformation of public transportation in Lagos State has entered another significant phase with the launch and deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses by Amalgamated Megacity Transport Services Limited, signalling growing private-sector confidence in the State’s vision for a cleaner, more efficient and sustainable transport system.
The launch represents a major step in the implementation of the Lagos State Bus Industry Transition Programme (BITP), under which transport operators are increasingly taking responsibility for investing in modern, high-capacity buses and embracing cleaner propulsion technologies.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, described Amalgamated’s investment as a demonstration of confidence in the future of public transportation in Lagos and a commitment to the State’s transition towards cleaner energy.
He noted that the State’s transportation reform agenda was not limited to buses but encompassed rail, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Quality Bus Corridors, interchanges and water transportation, all of which are being developed to create an integrated and sustainable multimodal transport system.
According to the Commissioner, CNG represents an important transition technology in Lagos’ clean-mobility journey rather than the final destination. The State’s long-term ambition is to progressively move from conventional fossil-fuel-powered transportation towards low-emission and ultimately zero-emission mobility, particularly through the adoption of electric buses and other emerging technologies.
This strategy is designed to ensure that rail, buses, waterways and emerging electric mobility solutions complement one another, providing Lagos residents with more efficient transport choices while reducing emissions and dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, said Amalgamated Megacity Transport Services Limited had been engaged from the outset with the expectation that operators would invest in acquiring their own buses, with particular emphasis on cleaner technologies such as CNG and electric vehicles.
She disclosed that Amalgamated had committed to acquiring 50 CNG buses, with 15 already delivered and the remaining buses expected before the end of 2026.
The investment, she noted, was evidence that the transition to cleaner mobility was no longer merely a policy aspiration but was already taking root within the Lagos transport industry.
“This is the direction we expect the industry to go,” she said, emphasising the importance of operators taking greater ownership of fleet renewal and investment in the future of public transportation.
The investment comes at a critical time for Lagos, where rising population, expanding economic activity and increasing travel demand continue to place pressure on the public transport system.
Engr. Akinajo disclosed that Lagos requires approximately 15,000 high-capacity buses, alongside the rail and water transport services that form part of the State’s integrated multimodal transportation network.
She stressed that meeting this scale of demand would require sustained collaboration between government and the private sector.
LAMATA, she said, remains committed to creating an enabling environment in which transport operators can invest, innovate and deliver better services to commuters, while recognising that the scale of investment required to meet Lagos’ transportation needs makes private-sector participation indispensable.
The launch therefore represents more than the addition of new buses to the Lagos fleet. It reflects a fundamental shift in the structure of the State’s bus industry, with operators increasingly becoming investors and partners in the delivery of modern public transportation.
Prince Henry Nwazuruahu Shield is a former Director of Strategy for the PDP and special assistant to the then FCT minister Bala Mohammed. He has campaigned for all opposition candidates to come together and back a single candidate to remove the APC government.
Theo Abu Agada is a long time supporter of the PDP. He supported Atiku Abubakar of the PDP in the 2023 elections. However, his leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, created the NDC and Theo moved to the party and became its director of new media. He has often clashed with Obidients because he criticised Peter Obi and the Obidients before and after the 2023 elections but Peter Obi is now the presidential candidate of the NDC. Some Obidients say that he is promoting the party and its leader more than he is promoting the candidate.
Henry Shield says that the APC is campaigning totally for Tinubu, the ADC is campaigning totally for Atiku, but NDC has not yet accepted Peter Obi as its presidential candidate. He says that Henry Dickson is getting more of the publicity of the NDC than Peter Obi.
Theo says that Henry Shield is working for Atiku and is trying to divide the NDC. He says that Henry Shield is angry because Peter Obi refused to be the running mate to Atiku.

Theo Abu @TheoAbuAgada
His Excellency, distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson will not dignify Henry @HonShield with a reply. For years, Henry Shield has sought the attention of Senator Dickson, dating back to his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State.
The irony is that Senator Dickson is only a few years older than Shield, yet, by the grace of God, he has served as Legal Adviser of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Bayelsa State, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, Governor of Bayelsa State for eight years, and is now a serving Senator and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), the largest opposition political party in Nigeria.
Henry Shield, by contrast, has contested an election only once. He ran in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the House of Representatives and finished a distant third, with just three votes. Senator Dickson is not on the same level as this empty-headed, lying, bitter, and pathetic fellow, and he will not dignify him with a response.
Henry Shield is one of those commissioned to sow disaffection within the NDC. He has told friends close to us that one of the reasons he hates Senator Dickson, and will continue to attack him, is Dickson’s role in providing a platform for His Excellency Peter Obi and His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to pursue their presidential ambitions. Shield wanted His Excellency Peter Obi to remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and accept the vice-presidential nomination of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He has repeatedly said that if Senator Dickson had not agreed to Mr Peter Obi becoming the NDC presidential candidate, he would not have left the ADC.
We appeal to every lover and supporter of His Excellency Peter Obi to see this pathetic fellow as an enemy of Mr Obi’s cause. He is unhappy that Mr Obi declined to serve as vice-presidential candidate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and he is deploying every means to create division within the ranks of the NDC.
We urge the general public, our members, and supporters to ignore the malicious rumours of disaffection being peddled by mischievous political elements like Henry who remain unhappy that Mr Peter Obi and Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and other patriots in building the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson remains deeply committed to the Obi/Kwankwaso project. No amount of blackmail will make him betray the trust and confidence that the Nigerian people have invested in the political party that God has helped him to establish.
Normally, I don’t respond to errand boys, but I’ll indulge you just to place you where you belong.
First, I can never run for an election and come 2nd. If I contest an election, be sure that I will win and with a landslide. Ask your current candidates in my area. They all had to reach out. Infact, ask them how many parties offered me their tickets. I am not interested in contesting, for now.
Secondly, I dare you and Dickson to show the world that I have ever conceived, thought of, lobbied or tried to reach him either directly or indirectly. I dare you! If you can post proof of such, I’ll deactivate my Twitter account this very minute. Dickson may be your boss but he doesn’t have any valuable rating with me. just another funny Nigerian politician and nothing more. He has nothing I need and by the grace of God, there’ll never be a time I’ll need him or his so called attention. Infact, if I’m sitting in a meeting and he walks in, I won’t stand to greet him.
Lastly and most importantly, Theo or whatever your name is, CAN YOU SWEAR ON YOUR LIFE THAT YOU HAVENT BEEN PASSING CRITICAL Information ABOUT THE PO CAMPAIGN TO YOUR PAYMASTERS IN THE APC?
I won’t talk about the reason your boss deliberately decided that Aisha Yusufu, Morris, Salako and other core PO supporters never got your party’s ticket. Those who are smart enough would know but if you want, I’ll help you tell the world.
So my dear boy, swear that you aren’t passing sensitive information about PO’s campaign to your real bosses.
Henry, I do not have any boss or bosses in the APC. I will not waste my time and energy debunking your baseless, unfounded, and misleading allegations against me.
No sensible person will believe your nonsensical lies. Only those who do not know you, or what you represent, will take you seriously.
You have been commissioned by your paymasters in the APC and the ADC to cause confusion in the NDC, and I can tell you for a fact that your plans have failed. You have no iota of integrity. I am not like you, going about betraying people and blackmailing them.
Why did Governor Bala kick you out of his space? Why are you not working with him today, after he became governor? Of course, you know why. Nobody trusts a blackmailer.
You are dragging Aisha, Morris, and Salako into this conversation in an attempt to rile up H.E PO’s base against Senator Dickson. What your pathetic self failed to understand is that Senator Dickson had no hand in any of them not getting a ticket.
Dickson had never met, nor known, Morris or Salako, and would not in any way have denied the duo a ticket. Salako himself cannot accuse Senator Dickson of being behind his ordeal. The same goes for Morris.
As for Aisha Yesufu, there were people in the party before she came in, and they too had ambitions. The party asked everyone to go for the primaries, and a winner emerged. Senator Dickson respects Aisha Yesufu and values her contribution to Nigeria’s civic space, and would not have denied her any ticket. You are only angry that he did not interfere in the democratic process that allows a candidate to emerge.
You have mentioned people who conveniently align with your divisive agenda, but failed to mention people like Randy Peters, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, Ameh, and several other core Obidients who got tickets under the NDC.
Henry, any sane person can see through you and what you have been commissioned to do.
Finally, if you can produce any proof that I passed any information to anybody in the APC about PO’s campaign, I will not only deactivate my account this very minute, I will also resign my position.
Henry, don’t be silly. You are just a spoilt little brat throwing a tantrum because His Excellency, Peter Obi, refused to accept the vice-presidential nomination from Alhaji Atiku.
I have a candidate to promote and deliver. Unlike you that can’t even campaign for your presidential candidate.
femi4: That will only work where motorist obey the rules. We all know that in this part of the World, both sides will be blocked n accident will be more
Did you actually read what was written??
The junction will be closed during normal traffic. There will be traffic officers to force motorists to obey the rules during emergencies.
Didn't you see what happened when the 3rd Mainland Bridge was partially closed or are you just desperate to post something negative?
femi4: And when the bridge is blocked, how will that serve you in an emergency situation
Let me give you several examples.
⚫️ There was a major accident on the Lekki Ikoyi Bridge one morning and the carriageway heading to Ikoyi was completely blocked.
LCC allowed motorists to use the gap to move to the carriageway heading to Lekki so they could counter flow (one way). It's a 4-lane bridge but two lanes (a carriageway) were blocked, so they managed traffic by using 2 lanes (one going and one coming) for the blocked section.
A similar thing happened last year when a truck knocked down the barrier on the bridge.
⚫️ The authorities need to fix a portion of the bridge (just like when the expansion joints were being repaired on the Third Mainland Bridge). One carriageway can be closed and the gaps will be used to implement counter flow so that the bridge can be repaired section by section instead of closing down the entire bridge.
⚫️ In case of an emergency that causes both carriageways to be blocked, cars that are already on the bridge can make a completely U-turn and get off the bridge quickly rather than being stuck on the bridge.
I am trying to find my old post (from around 2013 to 2015) where I discussed the gaps in the median of the Lekki - Ikoyi Bridge.
Those things are there for emergencies. They allow vehicles to make a full U-turn or to counter flow when there's an emergency. There are also several on Admiralty Way.
When there is no emergency the gaps/junctions are blocked with concrete or plastic barriers.
Sometime around 2013 to 2015 I discussed the issue because someone asked me what were the "jerrycans" on the Lekki - Ikoyi Bridge (he meant the plastic barrier).
Mr Nobody on Nairaland knows that you should not exceed the load capacity of a bridge, but trained engineers do not know this.
Mr Nobody on Nairaland has declared that the barriers have exceeded the capacity of the bridge. He came to this conclusion without knowing the capacity of the bridge or the weight of the barriers.

chicfarmer: I'm not saying other bridges don't have it. I'm saying putting it in Onitsha bridge wey I know is just asking for chaos. You know how many agencies and revenue agencies, both legal and illegal operating on and causing traffic on that bridge head? Now you wan add U-turn?
Na here we dey na, when e start na you go still open the thread for nairaland
🤣 You still don't understand. The junction won't be permanently open, it will only be opened when needed.
RebirthPhoenix: Must you bring politics to everything? Can't you make your post as a normal human? Na this Nairaland moderators I blame, cos obviously they are very partisan and tribalistic
Hahahahaha
I simply stated facts and this one is talking about tribalism and partisan.
BizLeader: Naptu2, I once asked if you were being paid for this.
To engage people who share opinions as facts is a full time job that you will never win at.
It's like, as a doctor, arguing with the family members of a cancer patient on what treatment to use. You will spend all your time explaining your 6yrs of medical schooling and it still won't be enough.
My advice?
As a consultant for over 25yrs, I usually ask people when they argue if they have expertise in the subject matter and I keep quiet for their answer.
Trust me, it works.
PS It even worked during the landlord meeting of my estate. The man kept quiet thereafter. Heheheheh.
Some people said that the barriers were too heavy for the bridge, but they did not provide the load bearing capacity of the bridge neither did they provide the weight of the barriers.
Some people said that the road was a 2-lane road and that the barriers would cause traffic jams, but we can now see that it is a 4-lane bridge and these people did not provide the width of the bridge or the width of the barrier.
Some people said that a second bridge should be built, that is, they didn't even know that the Second Niger Bridge has been built.
I was not wrong, you have been wrong multiple times on this issue.
⚫️ You claimed that tow trucks will not be able to rescue vehicles that break down on the bridge. I told you that they would, all you need is two emergency points on either side of the bridge.
You said that they would have to come with reverse, not me.
⚫️ You claimed that the barriers had all been removed, but in actual fact they were making a U-turn spot like all bridges have.
You have been attacking the rehabilitation all along just for political reasons.
Some people are recommending that trailer trucks should be banned from the First Niger Bridge and that a height barrier should be placed on the bridge.
