Anambra gears up for Tinubu’s visit as government, security agencies finalise preparations

The Anambra State Government and security agencies have declared their readiness for the visit of President Bola Tinubu, scheduled for Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Final touches are currently being made on several key sites, including the new State Government Lodge, the Presidential Lodge, and the Awka Fun City, which are among the projects expected to be commissioned by the President during his one-day working visit.

Speaking with ‘The Nation’ on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. LW Mefor, said all hands are on deck to ensure the visit is successful and memorable.

“The administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has done a lot for the state, and the projects the President will be commissioning are a testament to that progress. Residents are genuinely excited,” he noted.

Security agencies have also intensified efforts to guarantee a safe environment for the visit. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that comprehensive security arrangements have been concluded.

He revealed that heads of all security formations in the state held a strategic meeting on Monday to coordinate operations.

As part of the preparations, some roads have been marked for closure on Thursday to ease the President’s movement and maintain security. Additionally, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are meeting today (Wednesday) ahead of the President’s arrival.

Residents, especially members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), have expressed excitement over President Tinubu’s visit, viewing it as a recognition of the developmental strides under Governor Soludo’s administration.

🤣 The bridge is not being repaired by Lagos State (it is not owned by Lagos State). The Lagos State Government only helps the Federal Government to manage traffic (because Lagosians are its people), but the repair is being carried out by the Federal Government which owns the bridge.

That's the same thing that happens with the Third Mainland Bridge, the Independence Bridge, etc.

Ignorance is not a virtue and facts are different from guess work.

People just rush to comment without knowing what they are commenting about.

It seems they didn't try hard enough.

Maybe they'll try harder next time.

It appears that some people do not know something as basic as the idea that law enforcement agencies from around the world collaborate to solve crimes that have an international dimension.

They have probably never heard that agents from one country will go to another country and collaborate with agents from another country because the visiting agents have some information or leads or knowledge from their country and they need to compare them with the information and leads that the agents from the host country have.

This is very strange to them.

I posted about this collaboration some years ago when the scammer that pressured an Australian boy to commit suicide was arrested.

Basically, the EFCC invited agents from Australia, South Africa, the UK and the US to collaborate with it to end the problem. There has been an increase in cases of sextortion and the visiting agents have information that they got from the victims and their families and it is easier to combine that with information that the EFCC already has about the suspects in order to ensure that the suspects are arrested, that they get extradition orders from judges and to ensure that the suspects are convicted.

This is too much for some people's brains to handle.

Sextortion refers to a practice in which scammers convince youngsters (usually teenagers) to send them nude or compromising photos. The scammers then blackmail the teens to send them money otherwise they will make the photos go public or send them to the teen's parents.

In recent years the Nigerian Police and the EFCC have collaborated with law enforcement officials from all over the world to take down these scammers. Many of the scammers are based in Nigeria and they often target children in the West.

In this particular operation, the team set up a command center at the EFCC's office in Lagos and from there they arrested 21 of the scammers. Some of them have been extradited, while others are undergoing extradition proceedings.

Livestock Minister Launches Transformation Programme In Plateau State

Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mahia has launched the Livestock Transformation Programme.

This ambitious initiative aims to revolutionize livestock farming across Nigeria.

The Wase Grazing Reserve, one of the largest in Nigeria, played host to the launch of the Livestock Transformation Programme.

According to the Minister, the reserve, along with others nationwide are slated to become central hubs for modernizing the country’s livestock industry.

He emphasized that the transformation is expected to revitalize other crucial sectors, including the National Veterinary Research Institute, West Africa’s sole vaccine production center, and struggling allied industries.

To foster understanding and ensure participation, the Ministry held several interactive sessions with both farming and herding communities, addressing their concerns directly.
