How did this Debo Ologunagba become a lawyer self?
Someone was removed from office because of a court judgment. Now, Supreme Court has set aside the judgement, does anyone need any further explanation on this?
judewrites: Though not very popular like ali, foreman would be long remembered for his fight in the "rumble in the jungle"
His era had many African Americans dominating the heavy weight boxing division....until the Brits and a certain gifted Ukrainian took over.
Life is indeed a boxing ring. You get knocked down severally, but you try to get up before counted out.
Judolisco: he was popular, go and watch his movie of how his manager squandered all his money and he had to go back to boxing at d age of 45 or so
He was very very popular.
He was one of the greats that dominated the heavyweight division in the 1970s. I watched his fights on Big Fights Of The Decade with Chuka Momah on the NTA in the 1980s.
He retired and then came back and was even more popular. He became the oldest man to win a world heavyweight title. He became a popular pastor. He had his own situation comedy in the 1990s. And of course he gave his name to the George Foreman Grill.
I think he made even more money in the 1990s than he made in the 1970s.
On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I flagged off the distribution of food items to Christians and Muslims across the South East and South South regions as they conclude their respective fasting seasons during this period of spiritual renewal.
I commended Mr. President for his unwavering dedication to feeling the pulse of the people, especially as they undertake the solemn journey of fasting and prayer. In my remarks, I urged the people to use this time to pray for the continued wisdom of our leaders, particularly President Tinubu, to ensure the sustainability of the nation’s development.
As each of the eleven States in these regions receives its share of the items, I emphasized that they are intended for those in need. I trust that the respective State Governments will ensure equitable distribution to reach the most vulnerable.

VP Shettima Welcomes Visa Inc's Pledge To Site Data Centre In Nigeria
Visa Inc. @Visa, an American multinational payment card services corporation, has updated Vice President Kashim Shettima on plans to site data centre infrastructure in Nigeria.
This is in addition to its investments of over $1 billion in the country, including a substantial technological partnership with MoniePoint to foster digital payment solutions, a $200 million investment in Interswitch, and a partnership with @thriveagric to empower smallholder farmers and enhance food security in Nigeria.
Visa's Regional President for Central, & Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA), Mr. Andrew Torre, disclosed this when he led a delegation of the company on a courtesy visit to Vice President Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Mr Torre said while Visa Inc. "has been making investments and will continue to make these investments in Nigeria", the plan to site the data centre infrastructure is aimed at bringing new technologies into the Nigerian market that would bolster the nation's growing digital economy.
According to him, partners like Hugo, and Samsung require some of Visa's technologies to launch mobile payment services for a more competitive and cost-effective market.
Responding, Vice President Shettima @officialSKSM assured the US-based corporation team that the patronage and partnership between Visa and the Nigerian government will continue to grow by leaps and bounds.
VP Shettima also applauded Visa for investing in ThriveAgriculture, noting that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT is quite passionate about repositioning the agriculture sector, which is one of the primes in the administration's 8-point agenda.
He said, "Nigeria is where the action is. Of the ten fintechs in Africa, about eight are in Nigeria, with Moniepoint as the newest addition. Agriculture is key to the 8-point agenda of the present administration. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is really keen on repositioning the agriculture industry here, and we have to invest in technology, we have to invest in modernisation.
"If we must improve on agriculture, we must embrace modernity, improve agricultural prices, seeds, fertilization, and intermediate technology. ThriveAgriculture is a company that has a focus on food security, providing up-to-date data to our farmers. And be rest assured that the patronage, the partnership between the government of Nigeria and Visa will only grow by leaps and bounds."
The Nigerian Vice President urged Visa Inc. to also invest in the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative @otni_ng of the federal government to help facilitate access to finance for the creative sector to boost the nation's digital and creative economy.
Also on the Visa delegation were the Senior Vice President, Head of Western and Central Africa, Mr. Andrew Uaboi, and Vice President, Head of West Africa @VisaNigeria, Mr. Chidozie Arinze.

opeldavid: What ruling did supreme court give? Conflicting news every where?
Remember that Samuel Anyanwu was previously sacked by the High Court.
Supreme Court said that no court should decide and that it was the internal business of the PDP. This has led to these two interpretations.

S/Court Judgment Affirms Udeh-Okoye as National Secretary -PDP …Commends Apex Court for Reaffirming Party Supremacy.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig has received the Judgment of the Supreme Court which affirmed that the issue of Party leadership positions, including that of the National Secretary is entirely an internal affair of the Party requiring only the Party internal mechanism to which the courts have no jurisdiction.
Today’s judgment of the Supreme Court reaffirms the standing position of the Party and emphatically settles the emergence of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh Okoye as the substantiative National Secretary of the PDP having been duly nominated, endorsed and ratified through the internal mechanism of the PDP statutory Organs and bodies in line with provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
For clarity, the NWC at its 576th meeting held on the 11th of October, 2023, directed the South East Zonal Executive Committee to nominate a replacement for Senator Samuel Anyanwu upon Senator Anyanwu’s nomination as the governorship candidate of the PDP to contest the November 2023 Governorship election in Imo State.
Consequent upon the directive of the NWC, the South East Zonal Executive Committee at its meeting held on the 20th of October 2023 passed a resolution approving the emergence and forwarding of the name of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh Okoye to the NWC as the National Secretary of the Party.
Accordingly, the NWC at its 577th meeting held on 7th of November 2023 pursuant to its powers under the PDP Constitution, duly received, deliberated upon, accepted and approved the emergence of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh Okoye as the National Secretary of the Party, which appointment has also since been endorsed by relevant Organs and bodies of the PDP including the Board of Trustees (BoT), South East Zonal Caucus, the PDP Governors’ Forum and officially communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the general public.
The PDP commends the Supreme Court for upholding the principle of the supremacy of the Party in the management of its internal affairs, describing it as victory for democracy.
The NWC urges all patriotic members of the PDP to remain united as we work together to move our great Party forward.

Hon. Debo Ologunagba National Publicity Secretary
