The Lagos State Government has converted the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) into the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

DSVRT is a collection of professional service providers and officials that respond as a group and in a timely fashion to the various needs of domestic and sexual violence survivors by providing legal, medical, emergency assistance, Counselling and psychological and psycho social support. It is to encourage and create unprecedented level of collaboration among professionals working to end sexual and Gender Based Violence.

Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) is an organisation under Lagos state Government committed to ensuring total eradication of Sexual and Gender Based Violence in the State. Our mission is to provide sensitive services to victims of domestic and sexual violence while promoting healthy relationships as we strive to enhance our coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence in Lagos State and indeed in Nigeria.

The reason I advised that you should contact these people is that they've got lawyers, psychological counsellors and other professionals that are needed to tackle this case. They are backed by the Lagos State Government and they know how to make the police do their work. They can also provide shelter for the woman and the child if the need arises. They are your best bet.

Federal Capital Territory Women Affairs Secretariat and the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs delegates pays a Study Visit to the Lagos DSVA.

It was another opportunity to learn and impart knowledge as delegates from the Federal Capital Territory Women Affairs Secretariat and the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs embarked on a Study Visit to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency on the 24th of July, 2024.

The Executive Secretary, Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi in her welcome address and presentation, gave an overview and History of the Lagos DSVA. She harped on the need for commitment and resilience in building the desired Agency, approaching the issue from a multi disciplinary lens. Whilst talking about how the Agency has been able to make progress, she harped on the referral pathway  which has been mainstreamed into the various sectors. 

She ended her presentation by reemphasising the need for political will and used that opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and by extension, the entire Government, the Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba as well as the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa. 

She took the delegates on a tour of the facility and relayed the different functions the departments and units engage in.

While giving her opening remarks, the Mandate Secretary, FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr. (Mrs) Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi gave a brief on the efforts of her office rising from an impeded relevance and in the 9 months of it's creation the Office had embarked on sustainable initiatives to drive behavioural and attitudinal changes. 

Her counterpart ,Mrs Ngozi Blessing Felix, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs Abia State thanked the DSVA for meeting with her team and said the Agency was the best in the country.

She stressed that the current dispensation has the political will and her team remains ready to learn more to enable them deliver on their statutory mandate. She further noted that she hopes to achieve a tripod facility in conjunction with the Abia State's Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice.

The Representative of Rolac 11 and State Coordinator Mrs Joan Abimbola in her goodwill message, expressed gratitude to the Lagos DSVA for taking on the delegates and assured them of the continuous support of the organization. 

The Heads of the Lagos DSVA Departments delivered presentations on their functions and the delegates also visited the Virtual Response and Referral Services (VRRS office).

By the way (for all the ignorant people out there) Team Nigeria wore a variety of attires and they all look good.

The United States are wearing dark blue jackets (designed by Polo), but the team Captain (Lebron James) and flagbearer (Coco Gauff) are wearing white jackets.

Coco Gauff is the youngest flagbearer in US history.

I wish I could post all of these. The variety makes it stunning.

Green and white, red and black and so many beautiful colours.

Details like that should be taken seriously when representing in a world tournament like the Olympics.

There are a variety of attires, but most of the athletes are wearing the traditional green. The colour of the attire of the captain and flagbearer makes them stand out from the other athletes.
