CAF unveils CAF Awards 2023 nominees for women’s categories

CAF has unveiled the preliminary nominees for the various women’s categories for the CAF Awards 2023.

A distinguished panel made up of CAF Technical Experts, Legends, and selected media representatives decided on the nominees, taking into consideration their performances at all levels from December 2022 to November 2023.

Just as in the men’s category, the best women’s goalkeeper will be rewarded for the first time to celebrate the heroic efforts of the shot-stoppers. Ten players have been nominated for the first-ever CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

In the other categories, 30 players will vie for the prestigious Player of the Year, which Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala claimed for a record fifth time during the last Awards Gala in July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco

Ten nominees each have been penciled for the Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year and Young Player of the Year, limited to players not more than 21 years.

The finalists of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Cote d’Ivoire 2023 have each been rewarded with a place in the Club of the Year category.

The winner of each category will be decided after votes from a voting panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals from Member Associations, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stages of the Interclub competitions.

The Awards Gala is to be graced by the crème de la crème of African football on 11 December 2023 in Marrakech, Morocco.

FALSE PUBLICATION BY DAILY POST ON NATIONAL BLACKOUT

The Transmission Company of Nigeria hereby states that the publication by Daily Post alleging that the Head of Public Affairs of TCN said that there will be a national blackout is false and totally misleading.

Once upon a time the biggest pop artistes in Nigeria were on the Polygram Records label. The 2 biggest international record companies in Nigeria were Polygram and E.M.I. There were others, like CBS Records for example, but Polygram and EMI were the biggest.

The managing director of Polygram Nigeria was a Dutch man called Ton Seysener. He made a massive contribution to the promotion of Nigerian music.

However, the Dutch pulled out of Polygram Nigeria during the economic crisis of the SAP era and Nigerians took over the company sometime around 1990. It was renamed Premier Music and there's a Premier Music channel on YouTube where you can find most of the big Nigerian pop songs of the 1990s.

Court Awards N50million In Favour Of Orits Wiliki

The Federal high court sitting in Lagos has awarded the sum of N50 million as damages for loss of revenue to Orits Wiliki.

In the suit Mr Wiliki had filed a suit against premier records over the use and sales of the album tribulation, conqueror and wha’ dis wha’ dat.

The court also held that the recording contract between Mr Wiliki and premier records in respect to the album expired after 25 years of the album release.

The court also found that the recording contract relied on by premier records is inconsistent.

An order of perpetual injunction was subsequently issued against premier records restraining them from further use or sale of the album Tribulation, Conqueror and Wha’ Dis Wha’ Dat
