Okay this is how our edu system works, its 6-3-3- 4 which has been changed to 9-3-4 the new basic system, but its still the same thing, the nursery education is not included in them but I will include it  3-9-3-4 .  Three years for nursery school (NURSERY 1-NURSERY 3), but I only did two anyways cos that was also standard, after that you are promoted to primary school,  (PRIMARY 1 - PRIMARY 6) that's six years but to be frank the 6th is not necessary most people don't do it even me I didn't I stopped at primary five At primary five or six you have to write two examinations, First school leaving certificate and Your Common Entrance Examination, they are all external exams, even if you fail you will still be admitted to Junior secondary school lolz  , but if you want to attend A federal or state boarding secondary school, you will have to make your common entrance examination.  . After Primary education, we have secondary education, Which comprises of Junior secondary and senior secondary three years each, that makes it six years for secondary education, (JSS1-3 AND SSS1-3) but since they have made it 9 3 4 that's the new basic system instead of saying JSSI-JSS3  you say basic 7- basic 9 Though almost everyone still prefer using jss 1- jss3, On the third year of Junior sec school you have to seat for  JUNIOR WAEC examination WAEC stands for WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATION COUNCIL. its an external exam, I would say its unimportant cos its not used for anything, you can proceed to senior secondary school without it, but its still good cos it prepares you for higher exams. In the last year of your senior secondary school that's SSS3 you get to seat for three or four exams SENIOR WAEC EXAMINATION , NECO -NIGERIAN EXAMINATION COUNCIL, the NECO exam is only Valid in Nigeria, GCE- General Certificate of Education, The GCE is not mandatory I didn't take the exam. and lastly is the JAMB Joint Admission Matriculation Board exam OR UTME which its now called Unified Tertiary Marticulation Examination. So its this result I was talking about. With the least cut off mark as 180 or 200 for some universities and a maximum of 400. Without it you cannot be admitted into the University and without your NECO OR WAEC Result you cannot seat for the JAMB exam, you have to make at least five credits in your WAEC result Math and English inclusive. The grades are as follows A1, B2,B3,C4,C5,C6,D7,E8,F9 So you would have to get at least a C6  for your core subjects ,if you don't make all your required subjects in your WAEC you can combine it with your NECO or GCE result if you made you required papers there, I made all my papers in my WAEC so there was no need for my NECO result. even if you make A'S trough out and fail to credit English or math you will not be qualified to seat for the Jamb exam , although you can seat for it if your waec or neco result is not yet out, but at the end of the day you will still need the results before you can proceed. So after the JAMB you still get to write Post UTME examination gosh , it was brought out recently cos of examination malpractice, so If you don't make it you won't be able to go into the university  you would have to wait till the neat year to reseat for JAMB and Post UTME, or go for a pre degree, How ever if you want to attend a private university you won' have to go through this Post ume all you have to do is wirte the schools exam  though most of them still require for your JAMB result. so after going trough all this sucessfully you are then admitted into your choice university    where you spend four years, but some courses require more than four years  so that's it , THIS IS OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM FOR YOU  gosh the stress it tooooooo much   Though what I'm about to mention is not part of the education system but after graduation you have to go for NYSC, NIGERIAN YOUTH SERVICE CORP its a one year programme you have to do it if you want to work in Nigeria and in other to proceed in your education, that's masters and PHD    [/b]
