Those who are deactivating their accounts with Twitter do not have any transactions on the social media platform. They are just grandstanding and being the ostrich! Several small businesses depend on this service.

Twitter is a company driven by policies set up by a policy and strategy team. Tweets that do not meet the standard of use get deleted. If ambiguous (typical to a regular tweeter but offensive to some community members), complaints from the community are evaluated. And determine which tweets will be allowed and those to be deleted or required to be modified. Continuous violation will cause Twitter to deactivate and suspend such an account.

In the case of President Buhari with Twitter handle, @MBuhari - his tweet was deleted. @MBuhari tweet removal based on complaints from the community. Several times during the Presidency of Donald Trump, tweets from him were deleted. He did not ban Twitter or take any legal action even though; Twitter is a legally registered US-based business!!

Banning Twitter in the country amounts to using a sledgehammer to kill an ant! My suggestion is that The National Security Adviser (NSA) should set up or re-energize the Social Media Security desk, with the role of reporting to the providers of service on insidious tweets or publications. Tweets that negate the countries laws and assist the presidency on what is acceptable under the policy of the social media provider. Twitter and most social media Apps have a significantly fast response time. They will act, and we all will be happy and continue to enjoy the service they provide.

Lastly, I support the use of a VPN to access Twitter or any service. VPN ensures the integrity of your connection as a security service and not just for VPN was not banned, it was Twitter that was banned ;-)
