Are you saying that your message from this forum got to Uni uyo?

Yes. It did.

Hi guys...

I got a doctoral admission offer with funding at McGill. I'm supposed to resume in September. Is it too early to start processing study permit? If I am given the permit early, does it mean I'll wait till September before I can travel?

What I have so far for the permit
1. Departmental funding letter of CAD 27,000 per annum
2. Employment letter as lecturer and ID card
3. Admission letter
4. Bank statement of about half a million (I don't need this since I have funding)
5. Father and mother's employment letters and ID card (Father works in the same university where I work)
6. Transcripts & certificates
7. CIC forms

I intend to apply using the online route. Are there any tips for me?

It would have been better if the op did not mention his name to avoid further delays. Anyways as my people would say a one eyed person is the king in a village inhabited by the blind. UI is the best in Nigeria for post graduate studies.

I used my name deliberately. It has been in my favour so far. I have been contacted already by the Dean of the PG school and other important persons who can help in my unique plight.

You are complaining of Uniuyo? Unical is worse off...they keep savoring in past glorious and are oblivious of how they have been left behind. Interestingly, they will be claiming "we deliver quality not quantity" forgetting in the process that everything in life is tied to time.
The sad part is that their contemporaries(especially most Fed universities in the North), have continued to churn out graduates at the PG level without unnecessary delay. The resultant effect is that, those who run their PG programs up North and finish on record time will most definitely be ahead of those who opted to do their PG program in the south.
Why and how they tenaciously hold unto this "Lord Luggard's way" of running PG program still baffles me.

I have also heard of the issues plaguing UNICAL. I have colleagues there and their plight is even worse, in addition to the extortion that happens there.

Let us hope that Nigerians, especially Southerners, begin to learn how to embrace modernity and change. Some of these archaic mentality and mindsets have to go.

Please I will appreciate if this post makes frontpage so that everyone can see what is happening and maybe the school can retrace its step and make things right for the students that are stuck in the system.

The Many Woes of Postgraduate Students at the University of Uyo
by Ndoeyop Bennet Inibehe (an aggrieved M.A. Student)

It was on a hot Tuesday afternoon, November 22nd 2015, that I resumed studies at the University of Uyo for my Master of Arts programme. Like many of my mates, I was hopeful about the prospect of getting a higher degree. The Masters programme at UNIUYO has a minimum duration of four semesters of which the first two are for the coursework and the last two for the research work. The programme is research-oriented and intensive. Many of the members of staff know their onions and the entire coursework phase went by smoothly. There are little to no difficulties for any full time student in the coursework phase of the programme. I finished the coursework and even saw my results on time (I later found out that other departments are not as fast as mine in the handling of the coursework and the timely release of results).

In the research phase, the student is expected to write a seminar paper, present a proposal, write a dissertation and defend the dissertation both internally and externally (and I have done all of these). The process appear to be simple, time-efficient and effective. Ideally, students are not supposed to overstay in the system but in UNIUYO, nothing is ideal. Like many other universities in Nigeria, UNIUYO and all its intelligentsias seem to be ignorant about how a postgraduate programme ought to be run. The system is disorganised, haphazard and designed to inevitably keep PG students in the programme ad infinitum (as long as fees are paid, of course). It is one thing when a student keeps him/herself in the system due to laziness and failure to meet up. However, 70% of students pursuing Masters degrees cannot all be lazy as to warrant the type of delays that they face in UNIUYO (70% is only my way of coming up with a modest figure. I daresay that 90% of PG students overstay in the school by more than 2 semesters, at the least). Unlike other universities where delays are as a result of needless bureaucracies and overzealous supervisors, the problems in UNIUYO seem to be unique to UNIUYO and I will explicate some of these problems with regard to my experience and those of others stuck in the system.

At the University of Uyo, every department is free to run the postgraduate programmes as they see fit. The Postgraduate School operates like a detached overseer (and not even a very good one at that). Departments deviate from the PG school calender and run programmes as they wish. This is evident in the fact that many departments do not commence lectures or write examinations at the stipulated time in the PG school's calender. Some departments do not even recognise the oversight of the Postgraduate School. In the research phase, it is even worse as departments do not follow the PG school's minimum duration of 4 semesters. Departments are supposed to create the enabling environment to allow students complete their studies as and when due, as well as to advice or suggest withdrawal for students that are not serious. However, the departments encourage overstay through their nonchalant attitude towards the PG students. I have seen and heard of numerous instances where departments fail to schedule defence sessions on time or fail to enforce strict observance of PG school's duration for students. In some universities, defence sessions (or PG seminars) are organised almost every week but in UNIUYO, sessions are irregular and many students wait for months before they defend their works. Students in every set ought to start and finish at the same time (save for the unserious ones) but the departments deliberately create the environment that encourages non-uniformity and many students tend to graduate before others (in some cases, 1-3 years apart). At the time I started my programme in 2015, I met many students from 2010 who are still in the system and no one from their class has even graduated. A close look at convocation brochures reveals that many departments produce only one or two (none for some) at every convocation and convocations in UNIUYO are usually combined!

The second issue that I want to address is that of overzealous supervisors. We have these types in almost all Nigerian universities. At the University of Uyo, Masters and PhD supervisors do not care about the stipulated duration for the PG programmes. All they care about is how to frustrate the students and elongate the duration of their programmes. Supervisors often delay Masters students for years without any form of regard for the PG school calender or the student's attempts at completing the programme as and when due. I was fortunate enough to get a fairly good supervisor whose main problem was excess workload, rather than sheer wickedness. Many others, however, had supervisors that read a chapter submission for more than 10 times over a period of 10 months, with new corrections coming up each time the work is corrected. A work cannot be so perfect and that is why it is always presented before a panel of specialists at the end. Perfectionist supervisors need to be curtailed by the PG school and the departments. There is no point in delaying a Masters student for 4 years or more because you want a "perfect work" (if there is any such thing). Many of the lecturers fail to realise that a Masters degree is not a terminal degree like the PhD. They make the prospect of getting the degree elusive to the student through their disrespect for the duration of the programme. Many of my colleagues are still stuck in chapter one since last year because their supervisors can't bear to let them graduate at the time PG school says they should. There seems to be a serious disconnect between the lecturers and the PG school.

The third issue is based on the external examination of candidates. In many universities, external examiners operate strictly with the PG school calender and fix dates for examination based on laid down principles and timelines. At the University of Uyo, external examiners fix dates for examinations of thesis and dissertations arbitrarily. Some external examiners keep research works in their hands for months and in some cases, over a year or more. The examiners seem not to care about the student's expected date of graduation. They fix examinations whenever they deem fit and sometimes, students are made to pay outrageous amounts of money if they want to fast-track the whole thing. I have seen cases (as in mine) when students pay over N100,000 to make external examiners come quickly. Let us not forget that the examiners are paid for their duties!

The fourth issue I will discuss is the unneeded bureaucracies and delay-tactics of UNIUYO's Postgraduate School. The PG school is supposed to oversee how programmes are run in the departments. Far from doing this, they even deliberately implement policies and tactics that frustrate students. Apart from the fact that the PG school does not care about the welfare of the students, especially in terms of how they are faring in the programme and the issues they are facing, the PG school also adds to the weight of the students through a frustrating and delay-tactic known as "vetting". Essentially, vetting was conceived to create uniformity and high standards in the research works submitted to the school. It involves the PG school appointing someone in every faculty to vet a thesis or dissertation (after the student's internal and external defence). As if that is not bad enough, the Dean of the Postgraduate School also vets all the theses and dissertations across all faculties in the university. The vetting wouldn't be much of a problem if it was a timely affair. The entire process sometimes takes about a year or more to accomplish. A student that has "managed" to do his/her external defence in four or five semesters has to spend another year or two waiting for his work to be vetted. My grouse with the vetting is that it betrays the need for an internal defence and an external defence. Why would students go through all the stress only for the PG school to imply that they don't have trust in the panel of examiners and have to "vet" all the works that external examiners have okayed? It is a very provocative act! My own research on this vetting shows that other universities that are also known for delaying students do not add fuel to the flame via vetting. The PG school and the university expect someone at the faculty to read all the theses and dissertations in that faculty (apparently to look for issues that missed both the internal and external examiners). The work may stay in the hands of this so-called vetter for about 3-6 months (and longer, in some cases). After the faculty vetter is through with vetting, the Dean of PG school, apparently not satisfied with what the faculty vetter he/she appointed may have done, still vets all the theses and dissertations that are presented for higher degrees. The theses and dissertations can remain in the Dean's hands for another 6-12 months (and longer, in some cases). In my experience, I was certified by the external examiner early this year but my work is still in the hands of the faculty vetter up till now (about 6 months). And even when a student manages to scale through the hurdle of vetting (a needless delay-tactic), results are not approved on time. In many cases, students get their results, after all the years of struggling, a year after graduation and I am not even talking of certificates but statement of results! Before the results are compiled, presented to the senate, approved and all, more than 1 year may have passed. Such is the trauma that PG students go through at the University of Uyo.

The University of Uyo has every right to maintain a certain standard in terms of quality of research. However, students should not be unnecessarily delayed by their departments, supervisors, examiners or the PG school. Many universities in the world have high academic standards! Even here in Nigeria, there are some universities that are known for high academic standards. However, despite the presence of quality of research output, students graduate on time because the system encourages it. The PG school, in many universities, regulates everything that happens in the departments as long the PG students are concerned. If UNIUYO can graduate Bachelor degree students in 4 years, why should it be so difficult to graduate Masters students in the stipulated duration of 4 semesters (or two years)? Many schools graduate Masters students in 12 calender months. Others do so in 18 calender months. Many of my colleagues in other schools have started PhD programmes and I am still stuck in the M.A. programme, after braving the department, my supervisor, the internal examiner and the external examiner. Why must the PG school punish me and many others by keeping us in the system deliberately in the name of vetting?

It should also be noted that we have a Graduate Students Association (GRASA) that collects dues of about N1,800 every year, as well as a non-functional Faculty of Arts Graduate Students Association (FAGRASA) that collects the exorbitant fee of N5000 for dues and many departments also charge around N3000-N7000 as levies every year. These bodies seem not to care about the plights of those it collects money from. The issue of delays in the system has been discussed far too many times in congresses and other fora but they have never done anything decisive on it. My only means of protesting against UNIUYO's PG school's delay-tactics is by writing this for all to see. The PG school de-markets itself by delaying students for years after they are supposed to graduate. It encourages the departments and supervisors to delay students. It encourages internal and external examiners to delay students. In fact, it delays students itself through a needless and unnecessarily long process of vetting.

I write this for all to see. I call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo to wade into the issue. I also plead with the Dean of the PG school to trust in the examiners appointed by the board and allow students graduate after their external examination or create an environment whereby the so-called vetting can be accomplished in a matter of days. There is no sense in keeping students in the system for months or years after their external examiners have deemed them worthy of a higher degree. It doesn't happen anywhere else but the University of Uyo. Make UNIUYO the citadel it ought to be and encourage the best brains to come to the school for research by making the programmes fast, even while maintaining high standards.

As an Akwa Ibom youth, I join hands with Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio to say NO to Biafra! We may have been in the first Biafra but things have changed since then. Biafra has nothing to offer to the average Akwa Ibom man other than Igbo domination.

I created a thread sometime ago concerning why ND minorities will not join Biafra but guess what? IPOB youths derailed it as in their usual fashion. These people are worst than Boko Haram. They cannot be reasoned with and these are the same persons you want the peaceful and easygoing going Ibibio man to share a country with?

Never!

Thank God you saw everything yourself. That place is a big SCAM!!! Run away from it. Anyone who's a student there should ask for their refunds now because that center will be closed down soonest.

I have no knowledge of the said app.

I blurred the names of those involved in this issue deliberately, for their own safety. This man is known to use the DSS to threaten people.

In fact, one of the ex-staff named Uduak who was being cooperative with me in this issue was arrested by the DSS last year and taken for questioning by the man. The man's family is wealthy and influential. He even has lawyers and political allies. Anything can happen to those that show any intent to testify against him.

When the issue started last year, he openly boasted of throwing anyone who tries to "spoil his business of more than 10 years" into prison forever. Instead of contemplating how to pay or, at least, pacify those he has duped, he is more concerned with saving his business.

So you see, there is a precedent to all these and this issue will run its full course. Even the lawyer I wanted to use was threatened via SMS by the same man. But we are strong and still standing. We have every proof we need and we will make sure that place is closed down soonest for the safety of the public.

This is character assassination.

Character assassination?

I even need him to file a lawsuit so that his cocoon of lies and deceit would be opened once and for all.

Besides, what do you mean by his own side of the story? Employing people, using them for months at a go without pay and when they complain, he sacks them without pay (and I mean everyone -not a selected few-). Is that how things are done in developed nations?

Mr Inibehe Otoho has no side of any story to tell. What is happening here and what is left to happen to him are a product of the seeds he has sown over the years.

9 good months since this thread was created while Tonto dike and Suleiman 's threads keep gracing Frontpage. Well done to the mods.

OP, was Middlesex University ever contacted directly? As well as the Aptech head office? They can't be expected to know all that is going on in the day to day running in Uyo.

I didn't contact Middlesex but I sent a series of emails to the head office. I NEVER got any response. I sent emails to even the branches, managers, heads, etc, they never responded. This got me thinking that they may be working together in this or they just choose ot ignore it because he's remitting their share of the tuition to them.

I'll send an email to Middlesex right away. It initially skipped my mind.

Since the thread was created till now, I've been trying to get the man to pay the concerned staff but he brought a cheap lawyer and involved DSS to threaten the ex-staff to back out. We are still trying to look for diplomatic means but this post is important to deter people from falling prey to this scam. We will file a case at the industrial court soonest. We are looking for volunteer lawyers to help for now.

As for those screenshots yhu shared as an app developer, that can easily be manipulated, more like generated, a simple way is to use Photoshop.

For all we know yhur evidence is fabricated, without names and faces its bullshit.

There is an app called YAZZY, its what all this bloggers use to generate automated chat screenshots like the ones yhu shared.

Give names and faces not automated shit.

And in all these, what do I stand to gain in lying against someone? Money? What exactly?

What of those who have come here to testify? Did I use Yazzy for that too?

Before you say things that hurt others, always think of their pains.

This is a man that employs people, uses them for months and doesn't pay. When they complain, he sacks them. What if this happened to you or someone you know?

Sometimes, you have to be open minded and stop supporting evil. There is no sane person who would support the evil this man is doing. This post has been online since 2016. What material gain have I made so far?

As for proof, I have plenty of people ready to verbally testify against the man. If you need them, just say the word and I'll give you their FB names to ask them yourselves.

Thank God you called that sham of a school a "business" because that's what it is.

So this man matter don reach nairaland abi.

I have a friend that he has duped with his employment format.

As far as I am concerned, he should be behind jail. I can vividly remember how he treated Brian, my former bf who left Abia State and got a job in this scam of a coy.
Brian left everything behind and arrived Uyo with only enough money to rent a one room apartment without furniture with the hope that he'd be paid at the end of the month so that he can kick-start his life. Brian was even posting pictures of himself in office on Facebook and everyone was congratulating him.
One month passed and Brian was asking me to borrow him 20k that he'll pay me back when his Oga pays him. Two months passed and Brian said he hasn't been paid. I even had to give him extra 10k so that he can manage.
Brian was even telling me of how the man sacked other people without pay and how those who came asking for their pay were treated. At the end, Brian stayed there for 3 months and he wasn't paid. He even begged the man to give him as little as 5k to eat but the man said there's no money even though students are paying fees and his children are in the most expensive schools in Akwa Ibom.
Till today, Brian has not been paid. The room he rented was wasted. The money he spent in Uyo was wasted. The man didn't even show any sign of concern and Brian had to leave the Uyo. Thinking about this alone has made me sad and angry.

May God punish these evildoers angry angry angry angry angry

So sad. Sonsongo for sharing.

Op thank you for this post.

Aptech Uyo is a big scam. Mr Inibehe and family are all scammers. I worked there and can categorically say he doesn't pay his staff, he lets them come in, work for him for 2 to 3 months without pay then sacks them and continues the circle. He is very unprofessional, insults staff and student alike. The system is dead and he lacks lecturers, because most of them resigned due to his inability to pay them. As at 2016, the institution had just one qualified lecturer and his son who just finished secondary school. Students come in, register, and don't get taught. Programs that were supposed to last for 3 months ends up extending to 6 or 7 months without certificate after paying so much. He uses the money he gets to run his family instead of running the place. The school walls, doors, classrooms and even offices are falling apart.

He owes me 2 months pay and I know people he owes 4, some 6 months salary and yet he will threaten you with lawyers and police if you dare go back for your money.

Lalasticlala, Seun, mynd44, Dominique, please help the Op to warn other people.

Thank you for sharing your experience. You will get justice, now or sometimes in the future.

I was on the Hospital bedfor a surgsurgery when he went to report me to NYSC that i was absconding from work. We parted in quarrel and fight. In all my stay in Aptech Uyo I know nobody that worked in Aptech that had a good parting experience with the man. The truth is that the wife is a good person that drives in little sanity into that insane man. 1 guy called David had to use DSS to settle their quarrel. Aptech Uyo is simply a scam franchise.

Pamela Otoho the wife is another Senior and Quiet Scam

let me list some of his mode of operation

1. Employ Mr. A for Position X
- demand he performs duties as poxition Y alongside X
- owe him first two months (this is intentional, cos if you decide to leave, he wins having owed u two months)
- increase work duration of Mr. A. beyond the agreed time
- delay issuance of appointment / employment letter
- sack staff when he becomes "too demanding" of his/ her own hard earned money

that guy is a beast, he ruined the careers of many young students while i was there, those guys pay up to a million bucks, you will be surprised there isn't a serviceable generator in the premise, at some point class could not hold cos he couldn't afford to buy fuel even @N65 per little.

Dont be fooled by the wife's supposed candour, she's in on it. that guy runs an organized scam, he even has as part of his team, some broke arse lawyers. His own brother the tall slim one left him, only nyekere stayed cos he couldnt do anything with his life without him, nyekere is the most owed staff at that place.

Inibehe's problem is that he likes to live beyond his means, he lives in a serviced estate, wants his children to go to the best schools, drives the best car at the expense of innocent student and faculty. he will forever live to remember me cos i stood up to him every time he plays his games, i had to resign before he could even sack me,

i wrote a letter to one of the Indians, informing him about inibehe's activities in the name of Aptech but i received no response. i think they are in on it it too.

if i continue to talk ehn!.

i even wanted to sue him after i settled in life but because of my job type, it would look like am using "power" but let anyone do so, i will travel down to testify. i need that guy to rot in hell! very bright minds he killed with his ways at ACE Uyo.

Thank you for stating the truth. I wanted the moderators of this forum (lalasticlala and mynd44) to hear my cry and take this to frontpage. Thank God others are speaking.

The man is simply evil! There is nothing that hasn't been done to shake him. The Indians are very much aware of what he does and since they receive their share of the money, they turn a blind eye. All of them are in cahoots.

What annoys me most is that innocent people are falling pray for this everyday and nothing is being done whatsoever. The guy still posts job listings everyday on Jobberman and people fall into his trap. Recently, someone even left Lagos to Uyo just to pick up this job and same thing happened to her. Now she is stranded, with nothing and Mr Inibehe Otoho is not in a little bit concerned about it.

What of the students? They aren't even being taught anything! How can they be taught without teachers?

Thank you for your truthfulness. I will certainly keep you posted on the legal recourse to be taken, having exhausted all other measures.

All these SS or no SS threads are pointless. Nobody going to force anyone to join. Everyone gets option through referendum. I don't see why nairaland wants to argue about this to infinity. We don't even know if how popular idea is in reality. There's not much data to go on except wor around town.

By repetition the point is sunked into the heart of everyone who thinks Niger Delta is Biafran territory.

We ddidnt ask for referendum. Our leaders have all spoken. Take it or leave it.

Politics / Biafra: We Are Not Interested, South South Tells Agitators by ndoeyopbennet: 1:49am On Apr 03, 2017
The ethnic nationalities of the South- South geo-political zone, yesterday, denounced demands for Biafra by Igbo in the South-East zone and called for an immediate cessation of pro-Biafra protests on their soil.

In a 10-point communique issued at Uyo at the end of a meeting held under the auspices of the Conference of Ethnic Nationalities of the South-South at Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, chaired by HRM, Obong (Dr) EU Ekidem, Ntisong Ibibio III, the Ntisong of Ibibio land, they dissociated the South-South zone from the “so-called Biafra.”

Representatives of Ibibio, Efik, Anang, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Ikwerre, Oro, Isoko and several other nationalities attended the summit. Among them were the interim chair of the group, HRM Ekidem, Convener of the meeting and Secretary of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, ILoT, Delta state, Barrister Edward Ekpoko, Albert Akpomudje, SAN (Urhobo) and president general of Ogbakor- Ikwerre in Rivers state, Prof A.M Onyeozu.

Pastor Nelson Bassey (Efik ethnic nationality), Ulap Bidiak Uloh (Oro ethnic nationality), Amechi Ogbonnia (Itsekiri), Obong Ukpong Umoh and Obong Aniedi Ndem were at the conference and signed the communique.

The South South nationalities said, “We will not allow any inch of the land of the ethnic nationalities mentioned above and other lands of the South-South to be part of the ill-thought-out enterprise.

“We call for a halt to demonstrations for Biafra on our land henceforth as it touches on the collective sensibilities of our people and could provoke ethnic crisis.

“We are not only surprised but shocked that Igbos who returned to Nigeria after the fall of Biafra in January 15, 1970 with tales of woes and horrors can talk about Biafra.”

They added: “It is in the interest of Igbos that Nigeria is protected as they have more investments outside their homeland.”

The Conference called on governors, political leaders and traditional rulers of the South-East geopolitical zone to “speak out now as their silence is becoming eloquent.” Furthermore, the South-South ethnic nationalities urged “well-meaning Igbos to call their children/wards to order to prevent an avoidable crisis.”

“We call on the law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant.

“We believe in one Nigeria and will do all within our power to protect the unity of Nigeria,” they stated.

Itsekiri, Warri territories not Biafra—INYC
In tandem with the communiqué issued in Uyo, President of the Itsekiri National Youth Congress, INYC, Esimaje Awani in a statement in Warri, Delta State, yesterday, warned that “Itsekiri and its territories should not be included in any IPOB or Biafran plan.”

He stated that Itsekiri were an indigenous ethnic group of Nigeria’s Niger Delta region of Delta State presently resident in the Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West Local Government Areas bordering the Atlantic Coast of Nigeria as their homeland with their only neighbours being the Bini to the North, the Ijaw to the South, the Urhobo to the East and the Yoruba of Ondo State to the Northwest.

Awani noted that from about 1490 – 1884, the Itsekiri had an independent political kingdom known as Warri Kingdom that was not subordinate to any of the World Powers in Europe or any African Kingdom, adding that it was in 1894 when the Niger Coast Protectorate was established that it came under the protection of Her Britannic Majesty vide the Treaty of 1884.

According to him, by another Treaty of 1894, the Itsekiri remained under the British until the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria was created and in 1914, without consultation with the Itsekiri people, Lord Lugard decreed Nigeria into existence and made Warri Kingdom (Itsekiri homeland) part of this enterprise.

He said by the map of The Republic of Biafra of May 1967, Edo and Delta states of Nigeria was never envisioned as a part of Biafra by the legendary Chukwuemeka Dim Ojukwu, saying that the current inclusion of present Delta State, including the Itsekiri National territories of Warri Kingdom without due consultation is preposterous, totally unacceptable and ultimately invalid.

“IPOB and Biafra have their rights of agitation for freedom of self determination as enshrined in the United Nations declaration, but other minority ethnic groups not duly consulted and their approval secured should not be dragged along to avoid the mistake that led to the civil war.

“The magnanimity of Itsekiri in allowing Igbos celebrate the Igbo Cultural Day in our land should not be taken for granted as we urge IPOB to de-list Itsekiri territories and Warri areas from its proposed map,” he said.

So you shift Cheerleading for math001 to trying to console your tribalist cheerleader brother in crime.

Got to give you kudos. Bigots stick to together!!

Chairman, left for you alone, even Igbos will run away from Biafra.

You are the main reason this thread has the oppressive tone it has gotten in its 80+ pages.

LEarn to cool down and talk to people like your brothers. Afterall, your fellow Biafrans added them to their maps. If you speak to Niger Deltans like they are your inferiors then you just may have a big problem on your hands even within Igbo Biafra.

Nobody want Urhobo in Biafra.
But using Urhobo and Isoko interchangeably is an insult to d Isoko Ethnic Group.
As both are not the same.
D Isokos are more Civilized than d Urhobo and hence will always feel ashame to be classified or called Urhobo.
U can see how they dominate the Entertainment industries unlike d urhobo and always Mention that they are Isoko in a proud manner especially in all their music.
U can see dis from Adaz to Gordons and d recent famous Solid star and many more
the famous celebrities of isoko sons are helping to establish Isoko as an Ethnic group of it own.
and their future sons will proudly follow d same step.
after all their famous isoko sons did it.
so why not d average isokos

See this one. Infact, your case can only be solved at UUTH, Uyo.

Hmm. Na so this page take reach 83 pages in 5 days. sad shocked

Me I personally think that the name, 'biafra' has been associated mainly as an Igbo struggle and to be more strategic with it the name should be changed to something else and rendered in the different major languages of southern Nigeria to accommodate everyone and make everyone feel belonged. Also, a power-sharing formula/plan including every province really has to made. The capital of this new country should be carved out of virgin land and built from scratch using the latest state-of-the-art designs for mega cities and in 20 years such a capital will rival the best in the entire world. I don't think using any of the current states would suffice. A virgin area, rectangular in shape, can be carved out from an area covering parts of the lands of many of the tribes within. That way every tribe will feel belonged to this new capital. The official language should be English and official regional languages should be Igbo, ibibio-efik, ijaw etc according to the provinces herein. With these suggestions, the ideology behind this new country will appeal to many in the ND region.

Your brothers hijacked it na. You mods should really step up your games and learn to ban these Biafran thread derailers.

You probably should have stayed without offering your comments. Clearly you lack a precise understanding of terms. First, Igbos are part of Niger Delta. Imo and Abia State are in Niger Delta. Delta State, Rivers State and Akwa Ibom are in Niger Delta. Imo and Abia State are 100% Igbos. Rivers State has an Igbo majority, Delta State has a very significant Igbo population and there are Igbos in Akwa Ibom.

The person who introduced this thread understood and respected this reality. However, you were simple filled with hate that you could not pause to think, you just decided to comment.

Most Igbo commentators here have made it clear, Igbos or Biafrans are not interested in any Ijaw, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Bini, etc. land. Infact a significant if not a majority do not even want to associate with them in the event of Biafran Independence. The only part of Non-Igbo Niger Delta that Igbos generally have a soft spot for and would wish , repeat would wish to join will be Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers. Both this will be entirely left to them.

The difference here is, many Igbos will infact object to these areas of Non Igbo Niger Delta joining in Ijaw, Urhobo, Itsekiri, Bini, etc, but however will welcome if these other area expresses a desire to join in Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers.

Now, it was so easy for you to classify Biafra as nonsense and landlocked. That is just too bad, because Igbos are far from being landlocked and you do not understand the geographic map of Ndigbo

If your brothers had express themselves as civil as you did, this thread wouldn't have spilled over to the number of pages it now has. Sometimes, your fellow Biafrans are the cause of the so-called Igbophobia.

Wow! I finally read through all the comments and all I can do is to shake my head.

I don't know what brought me back here but I really decided to see how my thread was hijacked and to see the amount of hate flying on the cyberspace is really appalling. Biafra lost a supporter in me, not that in mattered, through the words of its proponents on this thread and I do hope everyone gets to see this post sooner or later. The evils of imperialism, bigotry, hatred, annexation, suppression, more, are revealed here.

May God help the helpless Niger Deltans!
