Politics / Top Seven Solid Mineral Resources Of Nigeria Ready For Investment by Ndubestexplorer: 10:19pm On Dec 02, 2016
There are seven 7 strategic solid minerals that are being prioritized and promoted for private sector participation and investment by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The selected solid minerals are gold, coal, bitumen, limestone, iron ore, lead/zinc and barytes.

1. GOLD: There are proven reserves of both alluvial and primary deposits of gold in commercial quantities spread across several parts of suprascrustal (schist) belts -in Maru, Anka, Malele, Tsohon Birnin, Gwari-kwaga, Gurmana, Bin Yauri, Okolom-Dogondaji and Iperindo areas – in the northwest and southwest of Nigeria. There are also a number of smaller occurrences beyond these major areas.

2. COAL: Nigerian Coal is one of the most bituminous in the world owing to its low sulfur and ash content, as well as, environmental friendly. There are nearly 3billion tonnes of indicated reserves in 17 identified coalfields and over 600 million tonnes of proven reserves. In short, there is an abundant coal deposit in the country to power the coal-power plants that can contribute up to 30 per cent to the nation’s power generation by year 2020.

Foreign Affairs / European Oil Firms To Benefit From Donald Trump’s Victory by Ndubestexplorer: 10:42pm On Nov 30, 2016
Donald Trump’s victory in the United States Presidential Election will likely be good for European oil and gas firms that operate in U.S. Media reaction across the Atlantic, the industry itself has began a wake up call for the President Elect to define a clear energy policy.

European press reaction to Trump’s election was broadly positive when it comes to prospects for the oil and gas industry. London’s Evening Standard newspaper said that oil companies will be on the edge as a result of the news. It suggested that UK energy company BP plc could potentially strengthen ties in the United States and pointed out that that service companies such as Wood Group and Weir will be helped by a Trump presidency.

A few hours before Trump was officially declared the winner, Spanish news service vozpopuli.com said his victory could, benefit Spain’s Repsol S.A. – which has operations in Alaska – as there will be increased support for traditional energy companies.

However, French business website capital.fr took the contrary view that foreign companies operating in the U.S. might lose out, and that those that fly Le Tricolore – such as oil major Total S.A. and oilfield engineer Technip – will be “holding their breath”. The site quoted Saxo Bank economist Christopher Dembik, who said: “If Donald Trump favors oil exploration and oil services in the United States, he seeks to favor local operators at the expense of foreign groups, including the French.”

Politics / Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission Creates Consumer Rights Network by Ndubestexplorer: 2:53pm On Apr 29, 2015
The Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi held a meeting with members of civil society organisations, representatives of industrial, commercial and residential electricity consumers to consider a concept note on consumer advocacy network in Abuja.

Amadi noted that information asymmetry was not in the interest of electricity market even as he recommends that geographical or occupational clusters of knowledgeable consumer advocates need to be galvanised to promote accessibility and reliability of service in the market.

He, however, cautioned that efforts at establishing a virile consumer advocacy groups should be based on rational economic decisions rather than an attempt at instigating the consumers against the operators.

Career / Shell Deep Water Projects Provides Job Opportunities In Nigeria by Ndubestexplorer: 12:22pm On Apr 29, 2015
Shell is using advanced technology to deliver safe, economic deep-water projects in Nigeria that provide jobs and training for local people. We also plan to drill more wells in the deep waters of the Gulf of Guinea in 2015 to unlock valuable resources of oil and gas, with the decision to move the Bonga Main Phase 3 project forward. Tapping into these fields will deliver energy to help meet growing demand in Nigeria and beyond.

Far from Nigeria’s coast and more than a kilometre below the ocean’s surface, our people delivered a challenging project ahead of time and with an impressive safety record. Explore our 3D interactive of the Bonga facility to discover how we are opening deep-water potential and delivering local benefits.

Drilling new wells will boost valuable energy supplies from the Bonga field, which was Nigeria’s first deep-water development in more than a kilometre of water when it began production in 2005. Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) used one of the world’s largest floating production, storage and offloading vessels for the original project to pump oil and gas from deep beneath the seabed.
The vessel’s capacity has been upgraded, enabling SNEPCo to unlock new energy resources with the start of production at the nearby Bonga North West field in August 2014.

Career / How To Write A Good Resume/cv For 2015 Oil & Gas Jobs by Ndubestexplorer: 12:42pm On Apr 28, 2015
Here are a few tips to make sure your résumé/CV gives you the best possible chance of getting a new role in the New Year

Where has 2014 gone? Over the last 12 months we’ve offered a few tips on how to increase your chances of getting the job you’ve set your heart on. But one thing we haven’t focused on is your résumé/CV – and it’s often forgotten that this can make all the difference between securing an interview and narrowly missing out. Here are five dos and don’ts to make sure yours is as good as it can be.

DO shout about your achievements
Your résumé/CV needs to position you as the best possible candidate for the job. So without waxing lyrical, let your potential employer know what you’ve achieved in your current role. For example:
Company name * Pipeline Engineer * 2011 – present
Successfully coordinated, planned, scheduled and managed a $200M pipeline under budget and within time scope.
It’s also a good idea to outline your achievements at the top of your résumé/CV as a ‘career summary’ or ‘career highlights’. Recruiters or hiring managers may have lots of résumés to wade through, and if they can immediately see your accomplishments, this can only be to your advantage.

DON’T use short statements or bullet points to detail your experience
Recruiters and hiring managers will need sufficient information to make a judgement on whether you have the experience they are looking for.

For example:
Instead of saying Design work on jack-up rigs, say
Designed and installed six concentric injection wells for simultaneous water injection in two distinct reservoirs at different pressures.

Try to include three to eight responsibilities you had in a role. If your résumé/CV becomes too long, remove the responsibilities that are less relevant to the job you are applying for. And do say how you overcame particular challenges.

For example:
I am the supervising manager of four subordinate project managers with responsibility for 300 on-site contract staff. Under my leadership, we improved performance from continuously exceeding project schedules, with 90% budget overruns to completing work ahead of schedule and 40% under budget.
Quick tip: managers will want to know how you overcame challenges both personally and as a team member.

Career / How To Write A Good Resume/cv For 2015 Jobs by Ndubestexplorer: 5:40pm On Jan 09, 2015

Education / How To Get A Job Through Networking by Ndubestexplorer: 1:45pm On Nov 13, 2014
Too nervous to network? Don’t come across as stressed or awkward – follow these tips below to network successfully:

1. Be yourself:
Networking often makes people feel uncomfortable. However, when done properly, it can be engaging, social and fun. What’s more, it’s like most things in life: the more you do of it, the better you get. Here are some pointers to help you expand your current network, increase your circle of contacts and – very possibly – get you the job you want.

2. Give to receive:
Networking isn’t a one-way street: if you’re meeting people because you think they’ll automatically give you something you want, you might be disappointed. Instead, networking is about listening first and asking later. So be curious, friendly and interested: show that you care about what they do and who they are. Don’t gush with compliments but be mature, confident, and polite.

3. It not just about contacts:

One of the most frequent mistakes people make is thinking that professional success is “all about contacts”. It isn’t. Contacts help, definitely, but knowing the “right” person won’t be your passport to a great job if you lack the talent, experience and intelligence. So be brutally honest with yourself. Knowing people in the business you want to work in will help you – but only if you have the aptitude and drive to work in that field.
