Lagos - A new report says Nigeria's draconian law against gays has led to mob attacks, police torture, evictions, public whippings and health risks, and asks the country's new president to repeal the legislation.
The Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act became law 18 months ago, prescribing up to 14 years' jail and also making it a crime to not report a known homosexual.
The law is "the constitutionalisation of hate and hate crimes against LGBTI individuals", author Bisi Alimi wrote in the report published on Monday by the PEN American Center and the New York-based Leitner Center for International Law and Justice.
It calls for President Muhammadu Buhari to end the legalised discrimination of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-gender and intersex minorities, charging that it denies freedom of expression and other constitutional rights.

Montreal - A Canadian man sentenced to life in prison for killing and dismembering his Chinese lover and mailing the body parts to schools and political parties, has joined a matchmaking website for inmates.
Luka Magnotta's profile was posted on Sunday on a website that tries to hook up lonesome convicts - some behind bars for violent offences like first-degree murder - with potential companions on the outside.
The profile features two photos of the former stripper and prostitute, who was convicted in December of first-degree murder for the 2012 killing and dismemberment of university student Jun Lin in Montreal in a case that horrified Canadians.
In both images, Magnotta is wearing an unbuttoned white dress shirt.
Magnotta, dubbed the "Canadian Psycho" during his trial, is serving a life sentence with possible parole after 25 years.

i am nt a graduate but currently in my 200level..,here is what i know on calculation of CGPA:
first u must know that each grade has point attached to it,that is;
A=5
B=4
C=3
D=2
E=1
F=0,
secondly,each course has credit unit attached to it.if a course has 3 credit unit and u had an 'A' in d course, u multiply '5' which is d grade point by '3' which is d credit unit.
For a student offering 10 courses dat all hav 3 credit units,u first add d total number of credit units(3x10=30),secondly,u multiply all ur grades by d credit unit,then divide it by d total number of credit unit,e.g if a student has 'A's' in all 10 courses,it will b (3x5) x 10.After getting dis score,u divide it by d total credit unit(which will b 30,if all d ten courses have 3 credit unit).from my calculation,dis student's gpa is 5(ist class tins on point if he maintains such a fit).
Cgpa is d average of d two semesters so i guess i dnt need to ryt again on dat..,hope dis helps
