How To Calculate Your GP/CGP by Sageez(m): 12:28pm On Nov 07, 2013
Am sure many of us can't calculate our Grade point. I checked my result for last semester and the result was alarming. Out of 10 courses, I had 3 ''AB'' 4''B'' and 3 BC and their credit units are 3. But I was very suprise when I saw my GP as 2.62.
Please I want you guys to teach us how to calculate our GP

i am nt a graduate but currently in my 200level..,here is what i know on calculation of CGPA:
first u must know that each grade has point attached to it,that is;
A=5
B=4
C=3
D=2
E=1
F=0,
secondly,each course has credit unit attached to it.if a course has 3 credit unit and u had an 'A' in d course, u multiply '5' which is d grade point by '3' which is d credit unit.
For a student offering 10 courses dat all hav 3 credit units,u first add d total number of credit units(3x10=30),secondly,u multiply all ur grades by d credit unit,then divide it by d total number of credit unit,e.g if a student has 'A's' in all 10 courses,it will b (3x5) x 10.After getting dis score,u divide it by d total credit unit(which will b 30,if all d ten courses have 3 credit unit).from my calculation,dis student's gpa is 5(ist class tins on point if he maintains such a fit).
Cgpa is d average of d two semesters so i guess i dnt need to ryt again on dat..,hope dis helps

Here we go:
Take for instance Mr wizard took the following courses and had the following grade
MAT 101: C 3units
LPU 101 : B 2units
GST 101 : E 2units
ENG 101 A 4units
chm 100 : E 1units
Bio 101 : A 2units.

now there is always a constant
A=5point
B= 4point
C= 3point
D=2point
E= 1point
F=0

multiply the result of each course in accordance with their grade point for instance:
If he had an "A" in a 4units course. Then it is grade assigned to "A" which is 5 multiply by the course unit 4.
MAT 101: C 3 X 3=9
LPU 101 : B 2 X 4=8
GST 101 : E 2 x 1=2
ENG 101 A 4 X 5=20
chm 100 : E 1 X 1=1
Bio 101 : A 2 X 5=10
total =50

now divide the total(forgotten those terms given to it) by the total of unit Mr Wizard did that semester = 14 i.e 50/14 = 3.57
GPA =3.57

now for CGPA, it isn't actually the average of the first and second, it always has a little margin(minute though).

CGPA= the total for first and second/the total unit he did for both first and second semester.
