Absolutely no, we are not built to create enable societies in this part of the world.

Opay is the best thing that would ever happened to Nigerians in terms of banking. Those who are still afraid to bank with them are either old school or people that lack exposure. They are also insured by central bank, just like traditional banks. There are people keeping upto 50m naira in their accounts with Opay.

If you think Traditional bank are more safer, it miss you never had an encounter with them. Just yesterday, I saw a lady in the bank fighting over her mum 945k mysteriously disappeared in her account. Something we had never hear from Opay.

About 2 years ago, some people tell me that if I open a business account with FCMB and run it for a little while, I will stand a big change to obtain a good big loan from them. That was how I approached their branch o, I submitted all my documents including two references, passport photos and 15,000 as opening deposit. Could you believe till this moment that i am typing They never open the account. I went there more than 10 times, all they do is to promise me they will work on it. No feedback, nothing nothing, and it 2 years now.

Nigeria banks need to up their game, otherwise everyone will port completely to fintech banks by 2040.

Congrats bro....I currently work in retail bank as an an RM in one of the top commercial banks here in Nigeria....I will like to take this ur step too but at least I will need a mentor, as I'm still less than a year in banking as a full staff. I was already working in retail banking in Nigeria.

Came to the UK as a dependent of a skilled worker visa holder, so there were minimal restrictions to where I could work.

I applied to different jobs relating to finance and eventually got the bank job after the interviews.

P.S. I did work in care on a full-time role immediately I landed though, but switched to reduced hours when I got the banking job. I still work mental health care support on weekends or any time I like (less stressful, easy pay 🙂).

That's actually a good question. I think I became aware of bitcoin from reddit and it peaked my interest. Whenever it makes a new all time high or has a massive dump, the financial news outlets would talk about it. Also the news media love talking about all the bad headline news like when the U.S govt shut down the Silk Road website or when Mt.Gox was hacked or when Chinese authorities banned their banks from carrying out crypto transactions. It's still surprising to me that not that many people knew about it because sites like Yahoo finance had an article or two every week about crypto.

About your second question and this is not to brag or anything but I was buying about 10 Bitcoin every other week back then until Coinbase basically shut down my account due to fears of money laundering in 2017. I switched to buying from Gemini and eventually, they also closed my account for the same reason. I kept most of my coins in different wallets, some of which I forgot about until last year when Bitcoin hit $100k.
Back then I was younger, I had a lucrative job and no responsibilities except for my rent and personal upkeep. I sold some over the years to buy a house and diversify into real estate, stocks and other business ventures.

I don't really follow technical analysis, most of my entries have been based on events and my personal experience. I advised people to start buying Bitcoin around that $19k range because I remember all the hype about Bitcoin hitting an all time high of $19k back in 2017. Now if you are a TA person, you can say that's resistance turned support but I don't trade based on that. Same reason I don't expect Bitcoin or Dogecoin to fall before their November 4th low which was the U.S election day, but if it ever goes there, I'm selling the farm to buy even more.

Earlier in the year, I saw a job advert by a London borough (a local government in London) which I know I am well qualified for but doubted getting it because that is a soft role some equally qualified British would apply to and get chosen ahead of me. So I had doubts and that made me submit my application about an hour to the deadline, just to mark register .

Months went by, I got no response and I assumed they had moved on to the next stage and didn't make the cut for interview. Then one Friday morning, I was off work from my previous job and was at home , I checked one of my email accounts and lo and behold was an email sent 2 days earlier and was from the head of the team from the London borough I wanted to join. He apologized for the delayed response over the months and asked if I am still interested to interview for the role or I have moved on.

I instantly replied I was still interested and got a reply that my interview was scheduled for 2 weeks ahead. I put in all my best in preparation for the interview because it was a do or die for me as it was an opportunity to be a government worker in London .

My interview was scheduled for 10.30a.m but I was already at the London bridge by 8.40a.m after about 2 and half hour journey and the borough's office was just about 8 minutes walk from London bridge that was already milling with tourists taking pictures. I walked to the Iconic Tower bridge which was 4 minutes walk from the office and sat there overlooking the River Thames, to pray, meditate and mentally psyche myself for the interview.

It was a 3 part interview, the first was a 30 minutes written test, after Iwhich I was ushered in to face a 3 person management panel and that lasted 45mins (dem really drilled me) and the last stage was the youth panel which was also 45mins as the role I applied for, involved working with children and young persons in the borough and those young persons in the panel represented the views of the young people.

I got down from the fourth floor to the ground floor of the borough's building and sat to relax myself as I felt like one who just came out from a war zone as the interview wasn't easy at all. Hanged around in London till 5p.m before leaving the city.

I started another round of fasting and Novena prayers. A week later, I was inside in the bus and got a call from a number and it was my present team manager, he informed me I have been selected for the role.....I screameeeeeed!😂😂😃

It took another 3 months to onboard me, the team manager had to check out my references, callied to talk my undergraduate HOD to know who I was during my time in that university, called my reference from my postgraduate study, called my lead at the psychiatric facility I worked in another country, called my lead therapist where I worked then the 2 other related places I have worked in, in the UK.

Filled the forms for my medicals, local government pension, bank details, HMRC, the business unit of the borough confirmed the borough would offer me ertificate of sponsorship to switch my skilled worker visa from my previous employer, physical verification of my academic qualifications, given a contract to sign and finally issued a new COS

Switched my visa under 24hrs, given a start date and London house hunting began...got one and relocated.

Showed up on the start day to meet my other team members, got my work ID and devices, looking out from the borough's office building from the uppermost floor seeing tourists snapping pictures along the banks of River Thames, capturing the iconic Tower bridge behind them.....I know Eze Ebube has brought me this far.
