Thank you for this. I have now joined the waiting list goziejohn022: 🚨 Important Clarification on the New German Visa Portal
With the new German student visa portal, you can actually join the waiting list even if you don’t yet have all the required documents (such as your admission letter, blocked account confirmation, or sponsorship letter).
🔹 How it works: 1. Fill in the application form on the portal to the best of your knowledge. 2. When you reach the section for uploading documents, simply upload a short PDF note stating that the specific document is not yet available. 3. Repeat this step for every document you don’t currently have. 4. Once completed, you will successfully be added to the waiting list.
🔹 Why this is possible: When it’s your turn to submit your application, the embassy gives you 30 days to update your file. During this period, you can: • Edit your information • Delete placeholder uploads • Upload the correct, finalized documents
Essentially, you’ll be able to “re-fill” your application and provide everything properly at that stage.
⚠️ Key Advice: This flexibility means you don’t need all documents in hand to join the waiting list. However, you must plan carefully: keep track of how long the queue might take, and use the waiting period to secure your admission letter, blocked account, sponsorship letter, and other required documents. That way, when the embassy notifies you to submit, you’ll be fully ready within the 30-day window.
✅ In summary: You can join the waiting list now, even without all documents, but you must be strategic about your timeline so you’re not caught unprepared when your submission window opens. |

Nefritis: Good day everyone. I applied for a Turkish student visa on the 11th of August and I got my passport back through DHL on the 25th of August with a pink paper (the receipt) and a small white paper stapled to it saying my application has been forwarded to Turkish authorities. When I applied at Voya visa Lagos I was told I would get a response after 3 weeks. If I've not gotten an email by this Thursday, 1st of September, would it be okay to call the embassy to find out the status? While I was applying there was another person who came to find out about their passport and the person checking documents mentioned that they haven't been sending emails recently and they should call the embassy. I sent an email to them on Friday and I was told my visa was denied I wonder when they would have told me if I didn't send the email |

cucumbar: I have observed a number of people here looking for their passport after visa application? Doesn’t the embassy or Voya visa collect passports at the point of submission of documents, and then return, after a decision has been made? Please, how does the process work? I want to apply for a tourist visa in September, and don’t want to start looking for my passport from Voya visa to the embassy. From what I've seen on this thread it isn't all the time they give you passport and visa together |
