https://citypressng.com/2024/07/08/group-condemns-appointment-of-ex-cop-indicted-by-endsars-panel-for-killing-as-osun-amotekun-boss-by-john-oludare/ Group condemns appointment of ex-cop, indicted by EndSARS Panel for killing, as Osun Amotekun boss By John Oludare A group of concerned Osun residents, under the aegis of Osun Transformative Thoughts (OST), has expressed its displeasure over the appointment of a controversial ex-policeman, Adekunle Omoyele, as the Commandant of the Amotekun Corps in the state, stating that the state governor has given the public the reason to believe that the contentious appointment is part of the alleged big plot to use the regional security outfit to win his re-election bid in 2026. Omoyele, said to have been indicted by the Osun State Judicial Panel that investigated the EndSARS protest over extra-judicial killings and other human rights infractions against citizens of the state, is the former Chief Security Officer to Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun and was accused of harassing and intimidating the opposition leaders in the state during the presidential and house of assembly elections in the state. In a statement on Monday signed by the group's Coordinator, Comrade Afeez Olaniyi, it was noted that such a serially criticized ex-police officer should not have been offered such a sensitive security role at this period of our national life when good spirited citizens are making concerted efforts to deny rogues and tainted security agents from taking up influential and strategic positions in the land. "The newly appointed Commandant of Amotekun in Osun State has a long list of issues on his neck. Besides being one of the indicted police officers recommended for demotion and prosecution for killing of innocent Nigerians by the Osun State Judicial Panel brought about by the EndSARS protests; he has also been named in the dastardly killings of two members of the same family, Olalekan Abideen and Kafayat Abideen in Ede in August 2022." In a petition dated August 8, 2022, and addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the time by the family of the deceased, an appeal was made to the police authorities to investigate the callous murder of their two children and bring the then CSP Omoyele Adekunle and others "found wanting with regard" to the unwarranted killing of their children, to book. The group lamentated that rather being investigated and prosecuted for the alleged crime committed by him, Omoyele is being rewarded with sensitive position, a development describing him as an untouchable and a sacred cow. "Appointing a seriously reprobated former police officer like Omoyele to head the Amotekun Corps is an insult on the sensibilities of family seeking justice for the deaths of their loved ones linked to the actions of the ex-cop. "Governor Adeleke should reverse the appointment of this errant police officer forthwith or we will be forced to believe that he is being drafted in to rig the 2026 governorship election for the governor considering the fact that an Ede kinsman of Governor Adeleke, AIG Wale Abass ( rtd), has equally been recently named as the Chairman of the Amotekun Corps," the group submitted. |
https://naijinfo.com/2024/07/05/pdp-youths-call-for-removal-of-senator-oyewumi-as-senate-deputy-minority-leader-over-vote-buying-confession-others-by-uche-onuh/ PDP Youths Call for Removal of Senator Oyewumi As Senate Deputy Minority Leader Over Vote-buying Confession, Others By Uche Onuh A support group in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Youths for Restoration ( PYFR), have called on the current Deputy Minority Leader of the party in the Senate, Senator Kamarudeen Olalere Oyewumi, to resign his minority leader appointment over what they described as his confession of vote-buying and violence-inciting statement during the 2022 and 2023 elections in Osun State. In a statement signed by the President of the group, Comrade Suleiman Adamu and Secretary, Hon. Donatus Nwoga, Senator Oyewumi has brought national and international embarrassment to the party with his recent confession and conduct. According to them, "the position of the Deputy Minority Leader is a sensitive and hallowed position reserved for politicians with probity and electoral value. "The two trending videos, where the Senator is captured confessing that he instructed his agents to buy votes for him during the 2023 senatorial elections coupled with his open campaign that his supporters should maim and attack members of the opposition, are troubling and have projected our Party, the PDP, in bad light in the comity of decent democrats. Vote buying and violence incitement are two offences prohibited by the 2022 Electoral Act in sections 22 and 93 respectively which are punishable by imprisonment. The group said the report about the credibility and electoral relevance of the Osun senator leave much to be desired. "Senator Oyewumi, we learnt, has not really added quality to the PDP electoral fortune in Osun State. The Party lost heavily in his hometown in the last governorship election in the state. In the 2019 election when he was the senatorial candidate, he also lost out and only managed to win in the town with just 237 votes. In the last election, which has now become controversial on his own account, he had to depend on votes from Ede, the hometown and stronghold of Gov. Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State governor, to scale through. The group also expressed its discomfort about the report coming from the opposition party in the state linking Senator Oyewumi to the murder of one Saheed Oyegunle, a ward treasurer of the APC in Ikire, Irewole LGA of Osun State. "Oyegunle was said to have been whisked away on a motorcycle by political thugs linked to Senator Oyewumi, at a date before the last senatorial election. Before his body was later found on the outskirt of Ikire. The circumstances of the death are too troubling for any decent human to keep quiet about. "We are troubled that this kind of character, who have consistently failed to lift the political fortune of the PDP in his hometown, is the one enjoying the leadership role in the Senate. The group finally appealed to the PDP Caucus in the Senate to replace the controversial senator, if he fails to toe the line of honour himself, with a more decent and politically popular Senator from the South West, most possibly from Osun State. "It is time for our Party to restore decency to our fold, the virtue for which we were known in the time past," the group concluded. |
Pressure intensified for release of alleged serial killer, Bode Itaapa By John Fakunle Unless the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police withstands the heat currently being mounted on its leadership allegedly by the government of Osun State, Bode Olakayode (popularly known as Bode Itaapa), who was arrested by the men of the Nigerian Police few days ago, may regain his freedom any moment from now. Senior government officials like Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, Mr Sunday Bisi (PDP Chairman in Osun) and some security chiefs in the office of the state governor are reportedly coordinating activities for the release of the said detainee. Bode Itaapa, said to be the leader of a killer squad responsible for the murder of no fewer than 20 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilesa axis of the state, is rumoured to be on the payroll of some chieftains of the PDP in the state, with insinuation that these sponsors had been the ones shielding him from arrest after he was declared wanted by the police in 2022.

Unveiling Benedict Alabi: A Treacherous Deputy In Search For Relevance By Wasiu Inaolaji In recent political discourse, the figure of Benedict Alabi, former deputy governor of Osun State, has come under scrutiny for his alleged disloyalty and subversive actions against his own party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Contrary to his public image as a reconciliatory figure, Alabi's actions paint a different picture of a political opportunist willing to undermine his principal, former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, for personal gains. One of the most striking revelations is Alabi's role as a snitch, allegedly divulging sensitive information about the APC to their political rivals, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Unconfirmed reports have disclosed that he is not only close to the Adelekes' family, he regularly visits the Ede residence of the dancing senator, though secretly, under the cover of darkness, in a desperate move to discharge his treacherous act. A trending photo of the Ikire-born politician frolicking with Governor Adeleke, in a recent social event, is an affirmation of the affable relationship that exists between the two politicians. While politics should not be played with bitterness, this open and lousy display of affection with the Osun governor (the governor who has repressed and subjected members of Alabi's party to great discomfort) is unhealthy, and capable of stretching the commitment of average members of the party who see the governor as their chief tormentor and political adversary. Further scrutiny reveals that Alabi actively worked against the APC during the last House of Assembly election for Irewole/Isokan state constituency. This calculated move further questions his commitment to the party's success at all levels of governance within the state . Moreover, Alabi's electoral value is brought into question, with allegations of stinginess and being disliked by many Ikire indigenes, due to his selfish and unfriendly demeanour. These traits not only alienate him from the people but also queries his ability to effectively represent their interests. In the July 2022 governorship election where he was a running mate to ex-Governor Oyetola, the APC was only able to edge the PDP with just 22 votes: APC polled 206 votes, while PDP polled 184. This was at a time virtually all the leaders of the party won in grand-style, with wide margin, in almost all the polling units in the town. Again, in the state assembly election in 2023 (an election which has heavily cast doubts on his political integrity and relevance for he has been repeatedly accused of working against the candidature of Prince Bisi Oyegbade {Bisi Ilu} of APC), the party lost in all the 14 polling units in Alabi's Ikire Ward 6, including in his Baptist Day School, Ikire, Unit 7. APC polled 146 votes as against PDP's 184 votes in the unit. A pivotal moment in this narrative is Alabi's despicable statement in a May 24, 2023's interview with Premium Times, where he audaciously claimed to be the sole person capable of reconciling the APC factions, despite his track record of divisive actions. This self-promotion, in contrast to the reconciliatory efforts led by Governor Oyetola, highlights Alabi's ambition over Party unity. Quoting Alabi in part, “To me, it is very easy. Yes when the battle is hot it can be difficult to reconcile people. But everybody has tested their strength now. We need to call ourselves to order and chart a new course and that can be done by someone that is not factional, someone that all the factions will trust, someone who is not after personal gains, “The structures are there, I know who and who to reach out to and what button to press. If I am given that opportunity, having been a contestant for governorship before and also being the deputy governor of the state, I belong to no faction, I belong to the party and that is where I still remain till tomorrow.” Who is after personal gains? Who is factional? Ex-Governor Oyetola? These terrible lines from Alabi, barely 6 months after APC left government, were inappropriate and undeserving for Oyetola, his boss and political benefactor. As the political landscape evolves, it is suggested that Alabi's opportunistic tendencies would find a better fit within the PDP, especially considering his alleged lobbying for a senatorial ticket from the Adelekes. This seemingly strategic move aligns with Alabi's history of prioritizing personal gain over party loyalty, marking him as a political actor whose allegiances shift with convenience rather than conviction. It is better the double dealer aligns fully with the PDP and fights to clinch the Osun west senate ticket, rather than playing a spoiler role in the APC.

Olawale Rasheed: Diary of serial blackmailer, liar By Olayiwola Bello The name, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, appears synonymous with lies and misinformation. Right from his days as a journalist, his colleagues know him as "agbelero (filing of story without verification). As an employee of the Nigerian Tribune, he misled the newspaper on so many occasions, with some landing the newspaper in court cases. As a journalist in Abuja, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, is well known when it comes to blackmail journalism. It was this trait that he carried along with him to Osun where he dishes out lies and misinformation at will. In fact, he brazenly told journalists recently that he had no apologies for dishing out lies. Justifying his position, Mallam Olawale Rasheed was quoted to have said "if they lie against us, we will lie against them too." He is the first spokesperson in the history of Osun, to be called out as a liar by professional colleagues and CSOs. He lied that the former administration employed 12, 000 workers. Till date, he is yet to provide evidence to back the claim. During the Eid day debacle involving his boss and the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, rather than providing information about what transpired, Mallam lied that it was an assassination attempt against the governor of the state. When the governor traveled recently for medical reasons, Mallam Olawale Rasheed lied that he went to woo investors, only for the governor to admit on a radio interview that he went on a medical tourism. Perhaps, his date with investigators, over the false publication against an innocent citizen of Osun, will further expose him for who he is. At any rate, his boss has charged him to reflect on his life and chart a new path. In a birthday message to him recently, the governor said among other things that "as a wake up call, I want to remind you, that, birthdays are occasions to take a stock of the past and present of ones (sic) journey through life so as to put one in a good stead to make an informed decision into the future. "Rasheed, I challenge you, therefore, not to get carried away by the euphoria of today’s occasion but as another opportunity to make an informed decision for a greater and better life style in the coming years." If the governor did not know him well, he wouldn't have asked him to think about going for a better lifestyle. The mere fact that the statement was signed by Hon. Kolapo Alimi, on behalf of the governor, speaks volumes. It took the intervention of Dr. Deji Adeleke and the governor to resolve the 'wahala' between Alimi and Rasheed. Will Mallam Olawale Rasheed ever change? In the spirit of Ramadan, we pray for the loquacious lying machine to turn a new leaf.

Adeleke's spokesperson wanted for false publication . As governor shields him from arrest Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, is in trouble. His penchant for lies and misinformation appears to have landed an online publisher in trouble. The online publisher in turn has revealed the identity of the source of the false publication. The publisher told investigators that Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, gave the story. Recall that an online medium recently claimed that the son of the minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Femi Oyetola was allegedly extorting directors of the ministry, among other allegations. In order to clear himself of the allegation, Femi Oyetola decided to petition the security authority. In the course of the investigation, the online publisher was quizzed. "I was on a sick bed. But Mallam (Olawale Rasheed) kept calling my line. He called four times without a response. I picked the call the fifth time. He told me the governor was interested in the story. I did not even read the story before passing it for publication" the publisher had told investigators. Following the revelation of the publisher, the investigators decided to reach out to Olawale Rasheed to make himself available. But rather than turn himself in, he used the Osun State PDP to raise a false alarm. When that did not work, they sent a lawyer to the investigators to plead that he was indisposed and that he would be available on Wednesday. Sources close to the Osun State Government, however, disclosed that the governor, Ademola Adeleke, may be trying to shield him from arrest and the governor would be leading him to the investigators on Wednesday. It is not yet clear as at press time how that would pan out. But stakeholders are watching how the whole drama would play out in the days ahead. |

You are an unfortunate child! Where were you when we were rocking Nairaland in those days? Maybe you were still in primary school. Please check again: this account was created about 15 years ago. Unfortunately, I lost all my threads and posts when Nairaland experienced glitches sometimes ago. Back to the discussion: can your parents be proud of you if they see how you have allowed yourself to be used for hatchet job meant for low-lifers and lotus eaters? I repeat: you need to get a life! Stop making yourself available for evil things.

Godnewz:Who is bankrolling you? Why can't you tell the person to send his children on this destructive errand rather than engaging you. You need to get a life and stop destroying other people's name. |
It is very obvious now, as indicated by some of the comments here, that some scoundrels are after the character of the former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, and not really after his son, Femi. However, if their intention is to have a fight with Oyetola, why can't they face him directly instead of drawing his son into the roforofo fight. Why should anyone lie that Femi is mounting pressure on Directors and top men in the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy as published in the obscure and hatchet online news platform, ArewaReporters. If they are not cowards, they can challenge Oyetola on his stewardship as Osun governor and equally as Minister of the Federal Republic and I know his media team will be willing and ready to defend his administration. The cheap mudslinging and character assassination must stop. It is not healthy for common-sense and polity at all. |
