The CBN should add six more months to the deadline. It is not easy to migrate complex, decades long data like that of financial institutions from one server to another. Especially across continental borders. Even Amazon Web Services (AWS Snowball) built special bulletproof suitcases to help with physical transfer of extremely large volumes of data to their data centres where fibre costs would be too high or where fibre speed would be too slow to transfer such volume of data. The banks will need to buy, set up, and install physical servers in Nigerian data centres (if they really want to do true data localisation). They will need to set up replica servers in various local data centres, too, fully redeploy their backends and test and synchronize e.t.c. Easier said than done. It is not easy at all. The CBN should double the length of time originally given to the banks. They need to do this localisation thing really carefully. We would not want a case of missing or inconsistent financial records now. Would we?

I know some companies have downsized their workforce since integrating AI tools to their workflows. But some have made a u-turn and rehired at least some of their laid-off staff after frustrating and unexpected behaviours from the AI tools. But lets see what the future holds. But the fact remains that software development will never become a dead career. Less people doing software development because of AI does not mean it is dead.
And as for why computer memory (RAM), Hard Drives, SSDs and other computer components have become orders of magnitude more expensive than they used to be I do know it is PARTLY because AI companies have purchased available stock and even not yet available stock upfront. But it is mostly because of manufacturers' GREED.

Bring something logical and reasonable to Nigerians and we find it hard to adopt it but let us see rubbish from afar and we adopt it very quickly to the point where it begins to look like it is self propagating almost effortlessly.

Eat natural foods. Eat a lot of fruits. No, they will not. They like to make themselves feel like spending money on possibly life-threatening, glorified products of mysterious international origin will make them look better than God intended them to be. Eh eh eh.
On a side note I have noticed that a lot of women that heavily use face cosmetics end up having that same face look older than the rest of their bodies as they grow older. Na wa.

No. Software development will never become a dead career. like moatacad said, humans will still need to vett code generated by AI. Plus AI cannot be allowed to build itself. Humans are still in charge of that. No matter how advanced AI gets humans will still need to learn to code so they can vett every line generated by it if need be. AI can do a lot of things nowadays but it is still a baby. A very capable baby. And if it we truly achieve AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) someday it means we will even need to trust it less as it may start acting on its own untrusted free will.

What those ladies did were not jokes please. Rightly divide between what is ethically unacceptable and what is ethically acceptable in the medical profession. I'm a medical doctor and I can tell you that there are certain jokes I can make before a patient in a hospital setting that will be considered ethically unacceptable and probably cause me to lose my license, no matter how good my intentions are. Stop unnecessarily sentimentally defending misdemeanors when you don't know how the medical profession operates. Jokes are good, but when you don't know what is an acceptable joke and what is not, it becomes lack of wisdom to indulge in it.

I am not defending the students' behaviors. My first comment on the topic stated giving the students at least a warning strike before the kind of judgement they got. And that comment was based on the fact that they are still students. If that many students came together to do a video derogating themselves and their own future careers for a tiktok challenge then their school must have forgotten to teach them about this "needing to be worthy of character" part of the job you are talking about.

I have met at least two damn good doctors that are very good at their jobs and are also very funny. In fact putting a little joke here and there in between a conversation between a patient and a doctor sometimes makes the patient feel better and more receptive to treatment and helps both the patient and the doctor build a rapport. Yes they have to be serious with their jobs but that does not mean they should avoid fun when not on duty or when on duty and are not busy.

I used to doubt this man before he became president but I have to say at this point that we should be patient with him and believe in him. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing his best for Nigerians. He is making hard decisions that will be tough on us at first but that we will enjoy later. Vote PBAT for second term.

What these student did is between normal and a bit unacceptable depending on who you ask but that does not mean it should lead to expulsion or suspension for any of the students. It could be real. I once lived with a family where things were so weird that they happened just the way it is usually shown in Nigerian movies. I and the other guy that were guests in the house were discussing the matter at a point in time and we suddenly came to the same conclusion. We were so surprised. And I have in fact seen some family and relationship realities mimicking some Nollywood movie stories that one would normally believe cannot happen in real life after that time. E dey happen for real sometimes.

I was into photography once, but I gave up. My interest in photography was sparked because of my love for stock photography that focused on niches like landscapes, cityscapes, nature/wildlife and workplace (office) photography to mention few (basically amazing stuff like those on Unsplash). But the fact of the matter was that things like that cannot get you fed in Nigeria because where is the landscape, or cityscapes to capture? And where is nature that is safe enough to venture into to capture wildlife photos? Huh? Plus how would you make money off of photos like that anyway in this backwards country? Unless you are into wedding and portrait photography and others like it, which I hate like hell, it is hard to make money with photography in Nigeria with any other niche. I remember owning a Nikon D40X back then. And I also played around with my boss's Nikon D7200. I still miss photography.
