Well, this was a real shift once Apple made US iPhones eSIM-only. I guess that's when this stopped being optional for a big part of the market, and carriers had to figure out the activation and transfer flows to stay relevant. And now Apple even allows storing 8+ digital profiles and using 2 eSIMs at the same time, which is why providers like Saily, Ubigi, Yesim, and Ohayu got so much more visible as later updates rolled out. I like the practical side - the phone can keep the usual number for calls and OTPs, and a separate eSIM for data. That makes travel, dual-line use, and switching networks so much easier. For me, the real question is no longer whether eSIM is good - it is whether your carrier makes transfer and reactivation easy when you change phones. |
