Serious allegations have emerged against the Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Ejigbadero (popularly known as Eji/Esho), following the demolition of long-standing artisan approved settlements along the AIT/Rapower Road/Command axis in Lagos. Ejigbadero, who assumed office in July 2025 and is widely known for his background in land and property transactions, is facing criticism after bulldozers cleared structures stretching across more than five kilometers of the corridor. The affected occupants; mechanics, panel beaters, and other artisans had operated in the area for over three decades, with some claiming a presence of more than 35 years with the written approval of the Lagos State government. The demolition was reportedly justified by Ejigbadero on the grounds that structures were erected beneath the high-tension power lines and therefore violated safety regulations. These structures, according to the Artisans were not made by them as they have no need for such to carry out their work but by other individuals using the constructed buildings for bars, short rest apartments, lounges, car lots etc. The controversy has deepened amid reports that, weeks after the clearance, portions of the same land are being offered for commercial purposes by Ejigbadero to the same persons/businesses who had hitherto abused the use of the land, the same reason Ejigbadero used in demolishing and dislodging the mechanics who were there with government approval. Faced by what they described as an abuse of powers by Ejigbadero, the Artisans under the umbrella of Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) approached the Lagos State High Court and have filed an action seeking redress in suit nos. ID/18698LMW/2026 against Ejigbadero himself and a host of other defendants. Despite the service of the court process on him, the Artisans complain that Ejigbadero continues to harass them and sell their lands to high net worth individuals with intent to use the Artisan land for other businesses, contrary to known safety code under high tensions. Critics argue that the swift transition from demolition to reallocation raises questions about consistency in policy enforcement and the true motive behind the exercise. Community stakeholders have described the situation as devastating, noting that the demolition effectively dismantled the livelihoods of artisans who had plied their trades over decades. Many have been left without alternative sites or compensation, intensifying concerns about displacement and economic hardship. Observers are now calling for transparency regarding the legal basis for both the demolition and subsequent land allocations, especially since it is now been alleged that Ejigbadero is selling the land at a huge costs to the same defaulters using a private firm, Petra Global Concept. They are urging relevant authorities to clarify whether due process was followed and whether Ejigbadero will be allowed to flaunt and disregard court process. Many thanks for all the responses so far. I truly appreciate. The quote was given by a QS and I have Contacted Engineer that will supervise the project but I believe in openess and fair deal. If not for people on this forum I wouldnt have known that some of the prices were inflated. Some of this so called professionals included their charges yet inflated costs. I think the best solution will be to get the materials myself and pay for their service |
