LITTLE MORE PATIENCE The account of the Gold calf is one of the deciding event in the life of Isreal as a nation as they moved towards nationhood. It is so important that Moses recounted it in Deut , 9:29. God has some things for us to learn in the episode (cf. 1cor.10:11). God had invited Moses up to the mount of God to commune with Him and receive what would become the Constitution of the developing nation. Isreal.Neither they nor Moses was devinely informed of how long it would take for Moses to return to them. Does God owe anyone of us explanation for whatever He does,even in relation to us?No of course.All He expected of them was to trust and follow His leading,notwithstanding the oddness of it.Did He tell the disciples how long they would wait for the arrival of the promised Holy Spirit? No! Impatience is a dangerous things in life.The wickedness in the heart of the children of Israel made them to feel impatient and uncomfortable with supposed delay of Moses in returning from the mountain(less than 40 days). We are in the hurry- hurry generation.People rush in and out of God's presence,even in and out of marriage. Are you patient enough with God on your life issues? Even Aaron was not patient enough,the way God expected it, before going ahead to make the gold calf. As soon as they finished this foolishness, Moses arrived. What followed is nothing to be desired.Impatience with God lead to disaster and death. Exodus 32:1.Are you sure you're patient enough with God? If not,I want you to ask God to forgive your impatient attitude and tendencies. I pray God will give us the grace of waiting on Him so that we can receive the best He has for us in Jesus mighty name.(Amen) |
