This is serious. It's about time Governors, Senators, Religious and Political leaders, everyone join hands in finding a lasting solution to this menace. The security agencies can't do it alone. The rate of insecurity in the nation now requires solution from all fronts. |
I came across a thread where the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC asked the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to run as the Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress , ADC and allow Mr Peter Obi to be the party’s Presidential candidate for 2027 general polls here... https://www.nairaland.com/8573009/atiku-obis-deputy-adcs-onlyWell, as funny as the suggestion appears, I decided to dig a little to ascertain if truly such a scenario is constitutionally acceptable. I discovered that: 1) The Nigerian Constitution does not limit the number of times a person can run for or hold the office of Vice President, as long as they meet the basic eligibility criteria and are not disqualified by specific circumstances. These conditions are: -Citizenship: Must be a citizen of Nigeria by birth. -Age: Must have attained the age of 40 years. -Party Membership: Must be a member of a political party and sponsored by that party. -Education: Must be educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent. 2) The constitutional limit of two (2) terms are generally focused on the Presidential office, not the Vice Presidential role itself. Atiku Abubakar served as Vice President from 1999 to 2007 (two terms). There is no constitutional provision that prevents a former Vice President from running for or serving in that same capacity again. In as much as I find the idea of Atiku being Mr Obi's running mate ridiculous because it will be illogical for Atiku to do that considering he is the one who brought Obi into the NATIONAL political landscape, but based on the current Nigerian Constitution, Atiku Abubakar's previous tenure as a two-time Vice President DOES NOT disqualify him from seeking the Vice Presidency again. However, I personally believe such an arrangement WILL NOT happen for many reasons .Modified: Chapter VI, Part I, Section 137, Sub Sections 1 to 3 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which deals with the Federal Executive, explain the tenure of the President and not the Vice President. NB: I am NOT a LAWYER of any sort. Just a concerned citizen. Real Lawyers in the house, please educate us!

Obeiko:Exactly, earning that amount without a substantial extra from side hustle is a dangerous recipe 😁. Me as a single conservative NON EXTRAVAGANT guy, I know how much I spend a day. |
Nuzo1:Lol... That's a good take. Well, now that they've seen their names they should proceed and do the needful . I believe they'll be considered and the revocation reversed if they reach out. Thanks for this thoughtful feedback. |
Who made this list? How can Nigeria🇳🇬 not be there but countries like: Philippines 🇵🇭 Thailand 🇹🇭 Malaysia 🇲🇾 Peru 🇵🇪 ... are comfortably seated way up on the list. Something is not right here. |
tempex88:Good option. And they will have to wait for their properties to be sealed before they do the right thing abi? These guys have been notified and served warnings multiple times. U see the problem now? |
Haaaa. Which one is this again? ![]() |
fxexperts:Exactly. Someone on that kind of income must have side jobs and support from family. If not, doom! |
zedman1:Beautiful input. May God continue to bless your home brother. Cheers! |
Wow... Great post. Lagos Legends will go far into the tournament. I believe they'll finish at least in the top 4. Meanwhile for the bookies, under 160.5 without OT. If u know what I mean ![]() |
Watcharena:Seriously, it's a pity. People like the senator and others on that list should quickly pay that change and be free from all this drama. How much is the money? It's not up to what they spend on frivolities daily. It's shameful. If people like that can break the law, wetin common Nigerian wan do? ![]() |
tempex88:What do you suggest should be the penalty after several notices, reminders, warnings, publishing of defaults in national dailies and social media countless times. Profer a better solution. |
It amazes me how these elites are the ones breaking this simple law. Pay your ground rent and other necessary fees provided for by law. It's that simple. But NO, they rather default. Some have even been defaulting for 20, 30 years. Wow. And these fees are peanuts o. I wonder how these elite defaulters treat their staff and people around them. It's a pity. I support Minister Wike on this 💯

Who is this guy again? Funny lots ![]() |
peacenow: Good one. Very insightful. |
Now that he's been caught, suddenly you warned him abi? ![]() I took a closer look at the video, u need to see her face. No emotion. Babe can't even act the cry ![]() |
Nazgul:Copy and paste from where? ![]() Had spare time on my hands last night and decided to write a little. In reality, everything on that list is heavily under priced. I did it that way, because from the original post people mentioned they live up North where things are INEXPENSIVE. Hence, that undervalued estimate so they'll see that even at an unrealistic pricing, 100K take home is suicide. |
GloriousGbola:I know... Lol ![]() I was just trying to be modest so people won't say the estimate is extravagant. Many people have mentioned that they live up North where things are really cheap (according to them), so I tried to use that price floor for fairness. But in reality, everything on that list is priced x6. |
22o62021:Did you just say wheelbarrow pushers are married with 4 children, feeding well ![]() |
I came across this beautiful post about the above topic here https://www.nairaland.com/8571178/someone-earning-100k-naira-should In the comments, many great minded Nairalanders argued for and against "Marrying with a 100K income" from many perspectives. This post is all about putting the theories in figures. STAY TUNED .Now the man (From a supportive family) earns 100K and decides to Marry. That is #1,200,000 per annum (1.2M). His expected expenditure should look like this: ➡️Cost of wedding =Free (Family Sponsors). ➡️ House rent =Free (Has 2 rooms in his family house). ➡️ Electricity Bill (2K a month X 1 year) = #24,000. ➡️Feeding with wife and kid/s (At least 2K a day X 1 year)= #730,000. ➡️Clothing =Nil (He doesn't change clothes ).➡️Wife Expenditure = Nil (Her parents supports her and fends for her in his house ➡️Baby Diapers = Nil (Baby wears Napkin). ➡️ Water (Sachet water and others) =Free. ➡️Baby Food and Groceries (Milk, etc, 5K per month X 1 year) =#60,000. ➡️Transportation to work (500 Naira per day X at least 270 days a year) =#135,000. ➡️Recharge card and Data for our man and wife (#200 a day x 1 year) = #73,000. TOTAL SO FAR =#1,022,000 (1M, 22K) Our man will be left with #178,000 (178K) at the end of the year in review. ⚠️You will observe that I was extremely prudent in the expenditure, in the hope that both his family and the wife's family support the marriage which is most times unlikely; what applies is that you the man is the one supporting them instead. ⚠️ I only added basic RECURRENT costs and didn't account for emergencies like Healthcare, or even miscellaneous. I also obviously avoided school fees, baby wears, etc. ❓Can you marry with 100K income? YES & NO! You can if you already have a room in your parents house, your family and her family is supportive financially and otherwise, you like stress and you are comfortable with your current financial status (as marrying at this stage will give you little room for financial improvement and growth) But if you desire to grow financially, break the chain of poverty, value your peace of mind, want to give your family the best and live in a city where you pay for rent and other things, then it'll be a suicide mission to marry with a 100K income. My 2 cents ![]()

Nefort:Wike na strong man o. He was poisoned and suffered kidney and liver failure. Half of that could have killed many men even younger than him, but he is still alive and standing strong. U may not like his guts but Wike is blessed and he knows his job. 🍻
