Will Obi still be Obi? One question that remains a maze if not a mystery. Nothing reveals the heart of a man more than time and circumstances, since there is no art or app anywhere in the world to read the construction of the heart on the face. The dynamics of Nigeria political campaigns and the very chasm that exists between the pre campaign/ election mantras and the post elections realities gets me worried if Obi will still remain Obi after election. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/like-buhari-like-obi-will-he-change/ follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Nigeria’s democratization, which culminated in the country’s Fourth Republic in 1999, started amidst great hope and expectations. This shift was to herald the dawn of good governance in the country, however it is quite unfortunate that this was not to be, as the political landscape has proven otherwise. There is no proof of good governance since the inception of democratization in Nigeria. For example, the rule of law in Nigeria is just a mere political philosophy established on lips service, elections and electoral processes are monetized, political parties have no ideological premise as, more often than not, party candidates are seen cross-carpeting between party lines with no sense of accountability, even to the electorates: https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/insecurity-in-nigeria-the-politics-of-bloodletting-in-kaduna/ follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

I reached this conclusion after trying to follow all the advice given on a morning news show one week in January. It seemed like a smart way to start my day. I figured I’d tune in, get the forecast, learn the headlines, and maybe hear a celebrity interview. I wasn’t expecting all the show segments telling me how to live my life better because it is the beginning of the new year and all those rituals that we often engage in the dance of new beginnings. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/nigeria-does-not-have-time-but-has-time/ follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

The Civil Liberties Organization, CLO in Anambra State, on Sunday called on candidates contesting various electoral offices, political parties, stakeholders and their over-zealous supporters, praise singers, hangers on and sycophants to play the game in accordance with the constitution and electoral act. The group decried with great disdain, avoidable rising political tensions, character assassination, name callings, casting of aspersions on perceived opponents and physical confrontations, rearing its ugly head in the state. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/2023-clo-tasks-anambra-politicians-to-politick-according-to-rules/ follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts – Bertrand Russell. In 2014/2015, I watched with horror as the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a significant section of the Nigerian elite and the middle class decided to sell General Muhammadu Buhari, perhaps the most unenlightened, dull but brutal military ruler as the solution to virtually all of Nigeria’s problems. I wasn’t so much concerned about their efforts to get Goodluck Jonathan out by all means. My concern was the lies and revisionism they promoted about Buhari. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/tinubu-and-his-snake-oil-salesmen/ follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Tony Ogunlowo First of all, ‘emilokan’ for my non-Yoruba readers simply means ‘it’s my turn’ in English. In Nigerian politics it’s a syndrome which affects a narcissistic few who believe they’re entitled to something they’re not. And because they’ve been kingmakers themselves, in the past, hand picking leaders to rule the country, a favour is owed and its now their turn to collect. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/emilokan-syndrome-the-bane-of-nigerian-politics/

All critical minders of Nigeria’s preparation for the upcoming general elections will see in the ruling All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) quest to retain power in 2023, a retrogressive match to 2015. My first beat, in 1999, as a reporter in the Nigerian Tribune, was the office of the wife of Oyo State Governor. The woman then had a pet project called “Ilera Loro” (Health is Wealth).
