PoliticsConcerns As Uche Nwosu Is Accused Of Influencing APC Reps' Primary by NewsNet(op): 10:38pm On May 20
Fresh allegations have emerged over the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ikwuano/Umuahia House of Representatives seat in Abia state, with concerns raised about the process involving former Imo state Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, and his in-law, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji.

In a statement signed by the media team of businessman and politician, Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, the group alleged that the APC primary election was manipulated in favour of Orji, also known as “Ikuku”.

The statement accused Nwosu of influencing the outcome of the exercise.

According to the statement, some stakeholders and party members expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the primary, arguing that the process did not reflect the wishes of delegates. The media team called for transparency and fairness in the party’s internal electoral process, warning that unresolved grievances could create divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The controversy has since generated reactions among political observers and party supporters in Abia state.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Nwosu nor Orji had publicly responded to the allegations. The Abia state chapter of the APC has also yet to issue an official statement regarding the claims surrounding the primary election. The development highlights growing internal contestation within the APC in Abia state and across Nigeria as political actors intensify consultations and alliance-building ahead of future elections.

PoliticsPlatinum Anniversary And A Bold New Course For Africa’s Strongest Navy by NewsNet(op): 2:13pm On Mar 30
By Musa Ilallah

In February 2026, the Nigerian Navy was recognised by the Global Firepower Index as the African Navy with the strongest fleet. February 2026 also marked one year since Nigeria entered into a historic agreement with the African Union, for the Nigerian Navy to provide strategic sea-lift services to the AU’s peacekeeping, disaster response, humanitarian aid, and personnel movement operations across the continent.

Similarly, March 2026 marks four years since Nigeria officially exited the International Maritime Bureau’s list of piracy-prone countries. And then in June 2026, the Nigerian Navy-led Gulf of Guinea Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF) will take off, coinciding with the Navy’s 70th anniversary.

The new Force is a landmark, ready-to-deploy, multinational force capable of rapid, coordinated regional maritime security responses, with the objective of tackling the complex security threats in the Gulf of Guinea. A Nigerian Navy officer is already serving as its pioneer commander.

All of the above, along with other maritime security successes and milestones championed by the Nigerian Navy – including the establishment in 2025 of the Nigerian Navy Marine Corps and the Nigerian Navy Special Operations Command (NNSOC) – did not happen by accident. They have all been the product of deliberate effort, vision, and leadership, under successive Chiefs of the Naval Staff.

The vision of the incumbent Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, a decorated Above Water Warfare (AWW) specialist who assumed office as Nigeria’s 25th Chief of the Naval Staff on October 30, 2025, is “to develop a modern, agile, and professional naval force dedicated to securing Nigeria’s maritime interests and advancing national security objectives in synergy with other security agencies.”

From operational engagements to strengthening local and international partnerships, the new Navy Chief has demonstrated his resolve to build upon a proud and storied legacy that turns seventy this year. His very first official visit was to Makurdi, where the Nigerian Navy’s newest formation, the Special Operations Command, is taking shape on the banks of the River Benue. Vice Admiral Abbas stated that the choice of Makurdi as first port of call was deliberate, given the strategic role the new Command will play in tackling security challenges in the North Central region.

The Nigerian Navy is active across the length and breadth of the country, playing major roles in various internal security operations in no fewer than 30 States. In the Northeast, the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, Borno State, has become a vital hub in the anti-insurgency campaign. Vice Admiral Abbas visited the base on New Year’s Day 2026 to spend time with troops and to reflect on ongoing successes that have helped open critical waterways and bolster the livelihoods of farmers, fishermen, traders, transporters, and other residents.

The new Naval Chief has also taken international engagements to a new level, demonstrating a clear understanding of the role of multilateral cooperation in ensuring national, regional, and continental security. In January 2026, he led a delegation to the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference, hosted by the Qatar Armed Forces. In February, a Nigerian Navy delegation visited Egypt for a bilateral engagement with the Egyptian Navy, focused on deepening cooperation across training, and operational and technical capacity, with a return visit from the Egyptian Navy planned for April 2026. In March, the Navy received visits from the United States Special Operations Commander for Africa, and the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, among others.

Prior to his appointment as Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Abbas served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Heritage Centre in Abuja – a testament to his intellectual inclinations. This came further to the fore in a lecture he delivered to Course 34 participants at the National Defence College, Abuja, in February, titled “Maritime Power and National Security: The Nigerian Navy in Perspective.”

Vice Admiral Abbas has stressed his determination to ensure that the Navy’s mission and vision are in full alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Among his stated priorities for the year ahead is the intensification of Nigerian Navy efforts to sustain and grow Nigeria’s oil production through increased patrols and surveillance.

Over the last two years, Nigeria’s average daily oil production has grown by over 300,000 barrels per day, with the Navy playing a significant role in that achievement. As Vice Admiral Abbas highlighted in his National Defence College address, Nigeria’s maritime environment – one of the most fertile hydrocarbon regions in the world – contributes approximately 8 percent to national GDP and accounts for 77 percent of total exports. The stakes, in other words, could hardly be higher.

As 2026 gathers momentum, it promises to be a landmark year for the Nigerian Navy – the platinum anniversary in June, which will be one of the defining moments of Abbas’ tenure. Among the highlights of the weeklong celebrations will be the formal take-off of the Gulf of Guinea Task Force. There will also be the sixth edition of the Sea Power for Africa Symposium, as well as an International Fleet Review presided over by Nigeria’s Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In all, this anniversary will be a fitting stage for Africa’s leading Navy, and for an Admiral widely regarded as a welfare-oriented, people-centric leader – one who has hit the ground running and shown, in the early months of his command, outstanding vision and purposeful resolve.

PropertiesMakarios Launches ‘champions Place’ Estate, Names Streets After EPL Clubs by NewsNet(op): 12:27pm On Mar 29
Real estate firm Makarios, led by Matthew Ashimolowo, has unveiled a new residential development, Makarios Champions Place, in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos, where the streets are named after English Premier League clubs.

Disclosing this during the official launch on Thursday, Ashimolowo described the project as the company’s second flagship estate, following the success of Makarios Luxury Place. He said the concept behind Champions Place is rooted in Nigerians’ passion for sports and the vision of creating a unifying residential environment.

The estate is built around four guiding principles — family, friendship, fun, and football — which are reflected in its design. Streets within the development are named after popular football clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace, reinforcing its sports-inspired identity.

The project covers about 23 hectares (approximately 58 acres) and will accommodate between 450 and 470 plots. According to Ashimolowo, about 70 plots were sold even before formal marketing began.

A key feature of the estate is The Villagio, an integrated residential cluster described as “an estate within an estate.” It will consist of 11 apartment blocks, each with up to five floors and between 16 and 22 units per building. The apartments will include studio units, as well as one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options designed to meet the needs of young professionals and families.

Ashimolowo disclosed that 46 apartment units have already been sold following marketing roadshows in cities such as London and New York.

To ensure structural integrity, he noted that each building will be constructed on 60 foundation piles. He emphasized that the company is committed to maintaining high construction standards, citing concerns about failed developments within the broader real estate sector.

On infrastructure, Ashimolowo acknowledged rising construction costs, particularly in power provision. He explained that while electricity will be available, the estate will adopt overhead cabling instead of underground systems to reduce costs. Plans are also in place to incorporate solar energy solutions and modern waste management systems.

The developer added that flexible payment plans will be offered, allowing buyers to spread payments over 24 months without interest. Delivery timelines are projected between 16 and 18 months, depending on the construction phase.

Highlighting the investment potential, Ashimolowo pointed to Lagos’ rapid population growth and increasing demand for housing. He noted that the development is well-positioned for short-let and rental income opportunities, particularly for investors in the diaspora.

He further revealed that Makarios intends to provide property management services to help homeowners maximise returns on their investments.

“We are committed to delivering quality, affordability, and long-term value,” he said.

CelebritiesJidex Speaks On Creator’s Approach To Legitimate Income At African Summit by NewsNet(op): 3:05pm On Feb 03
Nigerian content creator and entrepreneur, Olajide Abubakar Rasak, also known as Jidex, spoke on financial responsibility and legitimate income generation during the just concluded African Creators Summit, where he was engaged by the TheDaily2KDiary team.

Meeting Jidex at the event, TheDaily2kDiary which is known for spotlighting individuals committed to lawful and sustainable income asked about the growing responsibility creators carry in shaping public perception around wealth and success. Addressing the topic, Jidex emphasized that visibility must be backed by structure.

“I earn well from social media, but it’s not my only source,” Jidex said. “If you stop creating tomorrow, what else is paying you? That’s the real question.”

He further noted that platform disruptions have reinforced his belief in diversification. “You all remember when TikTok banned my account at 936,000 followers, Although I had other sources of income and I was still feeding fine. That experience showed me why creators must build beyond the internet,” he added.

The summit hosted a wide range of creators and creative businesses, including Abiri Tobi Festus (Folagade Banks), Ify’s Kitchen, Nons Miraj, Nancy Umeh, Lolo Mbakara, Broda Shaggi, Gilmooree, TeeMirror, Jenni Frank, Cute Abiola, One Khan, King–Ana, and JIDEX Klothing, among others.

Meta was also present at the summit. Commenting on the initiative, Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, said,
“Our presence at the African Creators Summit was about meeting creators where they are, creating meaningful moments of connection, and demonstrating how Facebook empowers creators to succeed.”

Also known as Jide Klothing (born June 25), represents a new generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs at the intersection of media, culture and finance. By combining social media income with business ownership across fashion, food and entertainment, Jidex illustrates how digital influence can evolve into a more structured wealth creation which is an increasingly important blueprint in Nigeria’s creator-driven economy.

CrimeThe Controversial Story Of Rahamaniyya, By Kabir Abubakar by NewsNet(op): 10:47pm On Jan 20
The recent opinion article widely published in the media and credited to leading journalist, Reuben Abati with the headline “The Knee On EFCC’s Neck”, has sparked conversations in different circles and quarters, conversations that once again questions the fairness and processes of the Nation’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

One of such conversations is one that ensued on a WhatsApp group that I belong to where the case of the recent arrest and prosecution of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN along with his son, Abdulaziz Malami, and his wife, Mrs Asabe Bashir.

The argument bothered around why Malami’s wife who is an employee of Rahamaniyya Properties Ltd is been prosecuted whilst Abdulrahman Musa Basheer, the owner of Rahamaniyya Properties and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s oil sector, is not.

The discuss also questioned why Basheer a long known associate of Malami is listed as a prosecution witness rather than a defence witness. This development raised significant questions about the prosecutorial strategy and the broader implications for accountability and justice.

A curious instance of selective prosecution

Citing the cases involving the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed and his Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Dr Yakubu Adamu, as well as that of the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, who are all been tried for varying alleged offenses by the EFCC, Abati in the article noted that defendants in those cases are alleging unfair and biased trial.

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammedaaq, the principal of the accused persons has since alleged “that the only reason he is being targeted is because he has refused to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC – Nigeria’s ruling party at the centre. He said: “The APC-led Federal Government thinks it can use the courts and institutions of government, like the EFCC, to persecute and prosecute Nigerians who are not in their party. If they don’t stop, we’re going to declare war”. His name was mentioned in a motion in court. He has now vowed never to join the APC. He has the support of groups in Bauchi State including the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), Christian Youths Initiative for Peace (CYIFP), and Concerned Bauchi Citizens. These supporters have been very loud in the media, so loud that the EFCC was left with no option but to defend itself”.

Dr Abati in the article further wrote that, as in the Bauchi case, Mr Malami has declared that the allegations against him and his family are “baseless, illogical and wholly devoid of substance”. He insists that he was not involved in any form of money laundering, and that the EFCC is acting on the basis of “deep-seated historical animosity, personal vendetta, bias and retaliatory persecution.” He demanded that the EFCC Chairman should step aside”.

These allegations against the EFCC further triggered discussants on the platform question why Mrs Asabe, Malami’s 4th wife and an employee, is facing money laundering charges while her employer, RahamaniyyaProperties Ltd., and its owner, Abdurrahman Musa Basheer (also known as Rahamaniyya), are not. Traditionally, anti-graft agencies are expected to pursue not only individuals directly involved in alleged malfeasance but also the corporate entities and principal actors who may have orchestrated or benefited from the alleged crimes. The absence of charges against the company and its owner stands out starkly in this context.

Rahamaniyya was once recognised as one of Nigeria’s leading oil marketers, with extensive business interests and a reputation for significant wealth. However, he has been reported to have been convicted of fraud and found liable for breach of contract on a couple of occasions. News report showed that Rahamaniyya was sentenced earlier this year to imprisonment for one year in Dubai for issuing cheques that were returned, in what the court deemed as deliberate fraud. A UK court had in 2020 sent him to jail for 10 months for breaching orders during a case involving Sahara Energy Resources.

Rahamaniyya, the supposed EFCC’s witness, allegedly has a spotty record of indictments for fraud and contractual breaches. He allegedly continues to face complex litigation across different jurisdictions. Rahamaniyya reportedly served as Mr Malami’s henchman in several transactions that are either under investigation or have previously been investigated by the EFCC.

One notable example is the Paris Club refunds, where Rahamaniyya’s company, Shield Energy Ltd., was allegedly used by Mr Malami to divert public funds running into millions of dollars under the guise of consultancy fees. It is also little wonder that Rahamaniyya settled most of his debts with AMCON during Mr Malami’s tenure as Attorney General of the Federation. Given these connections, it is surprising how Rahamaniyya has come out unscathed.

Particularly, the decision to include Rahamaniyya as a prosecution witness rather than a defence witness is viewed in legal and corporate circles as curious. Sometimes, witnesses in anti-corruption prosecutions may be granted immunity or favourable terms in return for their testimony. However, this approach can be controversial, especially when the witness is perceived as a primary beneficiary or orchestrator of alleged financial crimes.

The handling of this case raises broader questions about the consistency and fairness of anti-corruption enforcement in Nigeria. Selective prosecution, especially when it appears to favour powerful individuals or entities, can undermine public confidence in the justice system.

The exclusion of Rahamaniyya Properties Ltd and its owner from the charge sheet, despite their centrality to the transactions, may weaken the case against the accused and reduce the deterrent effect of the prosecution. Moreover, the prosecution’s case does not hinge on Rahamaniyya’sconfession; it is a case in which the fact speaks for itself.

BusinessWill 2026 Be The Year Nigeria Breaks Its Mass Metering Jinx? by NewsNet(op): 11:59am On Jan 09
By Musa Ilallah

Successive Nigerian governments have tried to close the country’s yawning electricity metering gap, rolling out a series of ambitious programmes with limited success. Today, Nigeria still has a deficit of more than six million meters, out of an estimated 12 million electricity consumers.

Why does metering matter? Is it not simply another way to make Nigerians pay more at a time when wallets and purses are already under severe pressure? In reality, metering delivers benefits that many people do not fully appreciate.

Beyond its direct cost-control advantages for individual consumers—particularly those who have suffered the arbitrariness of estimated billing—metering strengthens the entire electricity system and, by extension, the broader economy. It allows distribution companies (DisCos) to collect revenues more efficiently and transparently. Modern smart meters are sophisticated pieces of technology, capable of collecting, interpreting, and processing granular data.

That data is invaluable. It enables better planning by providing a clearer picture of demand, allowing investments and infrastructure to be targeted more accurately. Crucially, it also makes targeted subsidies possible. With reliable consumption data, government can identify who needs support and where they are, ensuring assistance reaches those at the bottom of the economic ladder. This is standard practice around the world.

For too long, Nigeria has relied on subsidies that are neither targeted nor supported by credible data, resulting in massive losses, fraud, and wastage. The petrol subsidy scandal that erupted in 2012 remains a vivid reminder of what happens when subsidies are applied indiscriminately: those who benefit most are often not those who need help the most.
Metering, therefore, is of immense importance. It is one of the most underrated pillars of a functioning economy.

President Tinubu’s response to Nigeria’s metering challenge is the new Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI). For perhaps the first time, the issue is being driven by direct presidential intervention—an indication of how seriously the federal government views the problem.

As always, the devil is in the detail. The PMI has mobilised substantial funding from both federal and state governments to finance the rollout of the millions of smart meters required to close the gap. This marks a notable departure from previous efforts, which treated metering almost exclusively as a federal responsibility.

With state governments now involved, there is a broader sense of ownership—an important factor given that states hold equity stakes in the DisCos, who are ultimately responsible for deploying the meters.

Another point to note: the PMI rollout is expected to involve a mix of imported and locally assembled smart meters. The case for local meters is straightforward: Nigeria must deepen local content across all sectors of the economy. This has become even more pressing following the launch of the Nigeria First policy.

The argument for imported meters is equally compelling. The scale and urgency of the task mean that Nigeria cannot afford to rely on a single source. While local manufacturing capacity has grown in recent years, it is not yet sufficient to deliver millions of meters within a short timeframe. In short, patriotism must be balanced with pragmatism.

Beyond local manufacturing, the PMI also promises benefits for local technical capacity. A successful mass rollout will require thousands of trained technicians, creating opportunities for young Nigerians willing to acquire new skills. The initiative plans to oversee such training programmes in collaboration with public and private sector partners.

These skills will likely extend beyond meter installation, forming a foundation for broader electrical expertise applicable to construction, manufacturing, automobiles, and other sectors.

On paper, the PMI appears well thought out and carries many of the hallmarks of a potential jinx breaker. But it must prove itself in practice. Its success will ultimately be judged by the quality and speed of implementation, and by whether it truly departs from past initiatives that stalled or progressed at a crawl.

Public awareness will also be critical. This is where institutions such as the National Orientation Agency can play a supporting role, leveraging their national reach and renewed momentum. For the PMI to succeed, all hands must be on deck. This is not a task for government alone. Every stakeholder in the electricity value chain has a role to play in successful implementation—because when DisCos plug revenue leakages, they are better positioned to meet their obligations to generation companies, which in turn can pay their fuel suppliers. It is yet another example of the cascading benefits of effective metering.

Will the PMI live up to the high expectations surrounding it, or will it follow the path of previous interventions? In 2026, Nigerians should have a clear answer to this all-important question.

Christianity EtcPort Hacourt 2025: CCRW Promises Free Surgeries, Food Distribution, Evangelism by NewsNet(op): 4:43pm On Nov 18, 2025
Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW), founded by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, is set to launch one of its biggest humanitarian and evangelistic outreaches in Port Harcourt from November 24–29, 2025. The event, themed “Port Harcourt, This Is Selfless Love,” will feature free surgeries, medical services, large-scale food and clothing distribution, and intensive evangelism—reaching tens of thousands across Rivers State.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Ashimolowo, who also leads Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), explained that CCRW was born out of years of ministry in underserved African communities, especially in Ghana where he spent eight years. After months of prayer and seeking divine direction, Port Harcourt was chosen as the next host city. He noted that CCRW aims not just to meet immediate needs, but to bring spiritual, social, and long-term transformation to the communities it reaches.

Now in its third edition, CCRW first held its outreach in Ikorodu in 2023, expanded to Ibadan in 2024, and is now moving to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt—its most ambitious event to date.

Ashimolowo revealed that the Port Harcourt outreach is also the most expensive, costing nearly four times more than the Ikorodu event and double the Ibadan budget.

“The medical component alone will run for three weeks across key hospitals including Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, and several primary healthcare centres,” he said.

More than 1,130 people have already been screened for surgeries—including thyroid, fibroid, and cataract procedures—with over 70,000 expected to benefit from medical services overall.

He commended the Rivers State Government for its “unprecedented cooperation,” especially in providing hospitals and support staff.

For relief distribution, he unveiled the massive items to be shared:

150,000 bags of rice
150,000 bags of beans
150,000 packs of garri
100,000 packs of noodles
20,000 packs of salt, sugar, and oil
20,000 bags of soap
170,000 clothing items, including 10,000 Ankara wrappers
25,000 buckets
1,000 mattresses for elderly beneficiaries

Distribution will be organized through coupons collected on Monday, November 24, with the stadium arranged into sections by gender and age to ensure orderliness.

Over 9,000 volunteers have been mobilized, while 150 buses will transport participants from rural communities such as Ogoniland, Ahoada, Igwuruta, and Oginigba. Camps have also been set up for those travelling from distant locations.

Beyond the humanitarian aspects, Ashimolowo stressed that evangelism remains the core of CCRW. The mission is to see 30,000 people give their lives to Christ, with nightly services featuring prayer, healing, and miracles.

To ensure safety, 300 police officers and soldiers will be on ground for the six-day event.

A ministers’ conference will run concurrently, with speakers from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and the United States, including Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Bishop Tudor Bismark, Dr. Festus Adeyeye, Jonathan Shuttlesworth, and Rev. Steve Mensah.

Ashimolowo also shared CCRW’s long-term vision to expand into other African nations, praising the unity among Christian bodies—including CAN, PFN, and various denominations—that has enabled the programme to thrive.

CCRW’s COO, Mrs. Nasara Katugwu-Washpam, said her team has spent months handling logistics, securing approvals, and overseeing complex operations. Moving over 2,500 bags of food items from Northern Nigeria required full security escorts, while repackaging more than 500,000 nylon bags took three months.

She added that the outreach has significantly boosted the local economy—from hotels to transportation and small businesses—with six hotels already booked for volunteers and international guests.

“We prepare daily for 60,000–70,000 attendees,” she said. “This is more than an event — it’s a movement. Its impact will last long after the programme ends.”

PropertiesResident Raises Alarm Over Alleged Drug Dens In Amuwo Odofin Estate by NewsNet(op): 3:10pm On Oct 09, 2025
A resident of Amuwo Odofin Estate in Festac, Lagos State, Mark Rhima, has raised alarm over alleged illicit drug dealings within his compound, claiming some flats have been converted into drug dens.

Speaking through his lawyer, Elvis Iyamu, alleged that despite reporting the matter to the Estate Chairman, Godspower Aniedobe, and his Vice, Emmanuel Okwuobasi, but instead, they intensified threats against him, allegedly using men in fake security uniforms to intimidate him.

He disclosed that he has received anonymous calls vowing to deal with him and warned that the two estate leaders should be held responsible if anything happens to him.

Rhima noted that petitions have been filed before the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the NDLEA, alerting them to the criminal activities. He is calling on the Lagos State Government, the police, NDLEA, and NAPTIP to intervene urgently before the situation escalates.

According to his lawyer; “for some time now, the Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Godspower Aniedobe, has embarked on a mission of vendetta against Mr. Mark Rhima for no just cause. He is doing all that because, for a very long time, the whole of this apartment has been a den of criminals, a den of drug dealers, and the illicit use and abuse of drugs.

“Because our client is against these abuses and criminal activities going on here, the Chairman is now trying to ensure that, at all costs, he must force our client to shut up. Rather than take adequate steps to stem this tide, he has been after our client.

“Our client’s life is no longer safe. He has reported threats to his life, received anonymous calls, and the Chairman has even bragged with his gang that he is the Chairman, his Vice Chairman is a drug dealer, and that they are connected and will make sure they deal with him.

“The extent of ‘dealing with him’ is what we do not understand, whether negative or positive. So, we have taken adequate steps to protect the life and property of our client, Mr Rhima, to ensure that no harm befalls him.”

The lawyer further confirmed that petitions have been filed before the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, and will also be forwarded to the Lagos Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for immediate action.

Christianity EtcCCRW: 2025 Rural World Crusade In Port Harcourt Will Touch Lives - Ashimolowo by NewsNet(op):
Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, President of Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW), has reiterated his commitment to further extend the message of Christ and healing across Africa and beyond, as the next Rural World Mega Crusade 2025 will kick off from November 24th to 29th, in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on the vision of CCRW, the Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, KICC, in a video released on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, he noted that CCRW's vision aims to touch lives across Africa with the love of Christ in practical.

According to him, CCRW has been described as a game-changer in the way crusades and outreaches are done, adding that Africa is a land of immense wealth, yet home to millions living in poverty.

"That’s why we don’t just preach the gospel; we demonstrate it. CCRW operates through five unique arms — what I call our five fingers of compassion: Free Surgeries – Transformational operations for those who can’t afford them; Nightly Crusades – Spirit-filled gatherings where thousands meet Christ; Relief Distribution – Food, clothing, and essentials for struggling families; Pastors’ Empowerment – Training and resources for local leaders, ensuring lasting impact; Medical Services – Free healthcare, medicines, and education for tens of thousands. Through each of these, we show compassion while pointing people back to Christ."

Recounting on the first crusade held in, Ikorodu, Ashimolowo revealed that the initial plan was to screen 300 people for surgery, but more than 7,000 showed up in two days. By weekend, 340 surgeries had been completed.

"In Ibadan, the demand was even greater. Across four hospitals, 500–600 complex surgeries were performed. Some lasted 10 to 13 hours. We saw fibroids as large as full-term pregnancies removed, deformities corrected, and lives completely transformed.

"One man had his face rebuilt in a 13-hour surgery using muscle and flesh from his thigh. Another miracle came through a visiting doctor from Mali, who performed 134 cataract surgeries in just one week, restoring sight to people who thought all hope was gone.

"If each patient had paid for these procedures, it would have cost millions. Yet every surgery was fully sponsored by CCRW."

In Ikorodu, more than 40,000 people filled the stadium for free healthcare. With over 70 doctors, pharmacists, and nurses on ground, medicines worth ₦300 million were distributed.

On the second crusade held in Ibadan, Ashimolowo noted that the numbers grew even larger: 60,000 people over two days. Thousands received free eyeglasses, 500 dental cases were treated, and countless people discovered life-threatening conditions they never knew they had — from HIV to high blood pressure. For many, it was their first-ever visit to a doctor.

Children weren’t left out. 25,000 kids received free exercise books, pencils, erasers, and health checks, filling hearts with joy and hope.

"Beyond healthcare, CCRW is committed to meeting basic needs. In Ibadan, we improved the system with coupons, ensuring orderly distribution. Thousands of families left with food supplies that brought real relief."

"At the heart of CCRW are our night crusades — evenings alive with worship, deliverance, and the preaching of the Word. Gospel artists lead thousands in powerful praise before the Word is preached and lives are surrendered to Christ."

Also, pastors were not left behind as CCRW invested in local pastors in both venues. "We believe revival must outlive the crusade. That’s why we hold ministerial conferences to strengthen local pastors. In Ibadan, leaders came from Nigeria, Ghana, and even New York to pour into thousands of ministers.

By the end of the Ministers Conference, 2,000 Bibles produced by Pastor Ashimolowo in conjunction with Cambridge University Press were distributed.

PoliticsIs The PDP Dead In Kwara State? by NewsNet(op): 8:11am On Aug 06, 2025
By Ibrahim Sukurat

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, once a dominant force under the Saraki dynasty, is grappling with a crisis that threatens its very existence. A wave of defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), coupled with internal divisions and a failure to resonate with voters, has left the party struggling to maintain relevance. The question is whether the PDP in Kwara is dead or merely weakened, capable of revival with the right strategy. A close examination of verified developments, rooted in available evidence, suggests that while the PDP is severely diminished, its complete demise is not yet certain, though its path to recovery is fraught with challenges.

The Defection Crisis
The PDP in Kwara has suffered significant defections that have eroded its political structure. Reports from sources like The Nation and Daily Post confirm that prominent figures have left the party, citing dissatisfaction with its leadership and direction. Former Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed, who served from 2011 to 2019, has reportedly joined the ADC, a move that highlights the PDP’s loss of key allies. Similarly, Gbenga Makanjuola, the PDP’s deputy gubernatorial candidate in 2023, and Dare Bankole, a two-time federal constituency candidate, have defected to the APC. Other notable defectors include Hon. Wahab Issa, a former House of Representatives member, and Bolaji Abdullahi, the 2023 PDP senatorial candidate for Kwara Central. These departures, verified through multiple reports, indicate a significant loss of political heavyweights who once sustained the PDP’s influence in Kwara.

The defections extend beyond the elite to the grassroots level. Local operatives, including ward-level executives and former local government chairmen, have also left, weakening the party’s voter mobilization capacity. The Kwara PDP Transformation Movement has publicly criticized the party’s leadership for marginalizing members, a grievance echoed by defectors who feel sidelined by Bukola Saraki’s inner circle. While the scale of defections is substantial, there is no definitive evidence that the party has lost all its grassroots support, as some loyalists remain active, particularly in areas like Ilorin.

The Saraki Legacy: A Double-Edged Sword
Bukola Saraki’s influence has been both the PDP’s greatest asset and its Achilles’ heel in Kwara. As a former Senate President and two-term governor, Saraki inherited a political dynasty from his father that dominated Kwara for decades. However, his centralized control has alienated key stakeholders. Reports indicate that his 2018 return to the PDP, after a stint in the APC, exacerbated tensions among members who felt overshadowed by his loyalists. This lack of internal democracy has driven defections, with figures like those in the Kwara PDP Transformation Movement accusing the leadership of favoritism.

Saraki’s political base has weakened significantly. Kwara and Kogi, his home states, are now controlled by the APC, with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration consolidating power since the 2019 “Otoge” movement, which ended the Saraki dynasty’s grip. The PDP’s poor performance in the 2023 elections, failing to secure major victories in Kwara’s gubernatorial or legislative races, has further diminished Saraki’s influence. Defectors have praised AbdulRazaq’s focus on infrastructure and grassroots development, contrasting it with the PDP’s reliance on Saraki’s fading legacy. However, initiatives like the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation suggest he retains some community goodwill, though these efforts are more tied to his personal brand than the PDP’s revival.

National Context
The PDP’s struggles in Kwara reflect broader challenges at the national level. The party’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, as reported by The Nation on August 2, 2025, has sparked debate. Potential aspirants include Goodluck Jonathan, Bukola Saraki, Nyesom Wike, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and Akinwumi Adesina. However, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has challenged the zoning decision’s legitimacy, arguing it lacks formal approval and could violate constitutional principles. This internal discord mirrors the PDP’s difficulties in maintaining unity, a problem that amplifies local challenges in Kwara.

Nationally, the PDP has faced setbacks, with defections of figures like Atiku Abubakar to the ADC and losses in states like Delta and Akwa Ibom to the APC. These developments, verified through reports, highlight a party struggling to maintain its role as Nigeria’s main opposition. In Kwara, the emergence of the ADC as a third force, attracting figures like Abdulfatai Ahmed, suggests that the PDP is losing ground not only to the ruling APC but also to a new challenger capitalizing on its disarray.

Is Revival Possible?
The PDP’s decline in Kwara is undeniable, but pronouncing it dead may be premature. The party retains a core of loyalists and a historical brand that could, in theory, be leveraged for a comeback. However, its challenges are formidable. The loss of key figures and grassroots structures has crippled its electoral machinery, and Saraki’s dominance continues to stifle new leadership. The APC’s governance under AbdulRazaq, while not flawless, has resonated with voters through tangible projects, making it difficult for the PDP to present a compelling alternative. The ADC’s rise further complicates the PDP’s prospects, as it risks losing both elites and voters to a party unburdened by the PDP-APC rivalry.

Efforts to stem the tide, such as emergency meetings led by Saraki, have so far failed to address the root causes: internal divisions, lack of inclusivity, and electoral underperformance. For the PDP to revive in Kwara, it would need to decentralize leadership, nurture new talent, and articulate a vision that resonates with a populace disillusioned with dynastic politics. Without these reforms, the party risks further erosion of its base.

If the PDP is going to survive, Bukola Saraki needs to first understand that the party he has tried so hard to build in his image is no longer about him. He must let his autocratic, devilish, and selfish ways die first and only out of that fire can a new Kwara PDP arise. But knowing the man, he probably will never do any of that.

As the 2027 elections approach, the PDP in Kwara is at a critical juncture. Its current trajectory suggests a party on the brink, almost to the point of being considered entirely extinguished. The defections, while severe, have not eradicated its presence entirely, and pockets of support remain in areas like Ilorin. However, without significant restructuring, the PDP risks becoming a marginal player in a state it once dominated. The rise of the APC and ADC shows a shifting political landscape, where voters prioritize governance over loyalty to old dynasties.

The PDP’s story in Kwara is a cautionary tale of what happens when a party fails to evolve. Its reliance on Saraki’s influence, once its strength, has become its greatest liability. While the party is not yet dead, it is on life support, and its survival depends on its ability to address internal flaws and reconnect with voters. The 2027 elections will be a litmus test, and unless the PDP can reinvent itself, it risks fading into Kwara’s political history as a relic of a bygone era.

Christianity EtcFr Mbaka’s Threats Against Evangelist Ebuka Raise Alarm In Christian Community by NewsNet(op): 5:33pm On Jul 05, 2025
By Nene Daniels

These are interesting end times indeed! How else would you explain the words: “I know how to quench his fire, just wait and see!” These rather reckless words of threat are currently trending as expressed by the Catholic Charismatic leader at The Adoration Chapel in Enugu, Father Mbaka, against his fellow Man of God who leads the affairs at Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, ZPMO, headquartered in Okota, Lagos. The recent outbursts are among a string of repeated threats travelling in same direction over the last few months.

Interestingly, Evang Ebuka and Father Mbaka are of same ethnic origin as well as similar religious pedigree with their roots in the Catholic fold. Both lead semi-autonomous congregations and have achieved some extent of fame and success. The comparison stops at that point. While father Mbaka is restricted to Enugu, Evangelist Ebuka Obi has worldwide outreach and apparently the fastest growing ministry in Nigeria today.

The followership of Ebuka and the extent of signs and wonders is a clear issue that could breed envy and strive! In 2023, former governor of Anambra State and a prominent political figure, Peter Obi paid a courtesy visit to Evangelist Ebuka. Apparently this did not go down well with Father Mbaka who was put on leash by the Catholic organization stemming from his controversial positioning with Politicians.

Incidentally, during the travails of Father Mbaka, when the Catholic Institution placed him on disciplinary course, it was only Evangelist Ebuka who publicly stood by him and made a case for speedy reconciliation and restoration. Again in 2015, you will recall that all hell was let loose when Fr Mbaka recklessly remarked that the then President Jonathan was backluck for the country and Buhari the consequential messiah. Evangelist Ebuka was also the only one who gave him succor. But today, the table has turned around. The acrimony now conceived against Evangelist Ebuka by Fr, Mbaka has become deeply rooted and spreading like a wild fire.

Many Christian faithful are taken aback over the series of reckless vituperations and threats issued by Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka against Evangelist Chukwuebuka Anozie Obi. They view these threats, which have caused significant alarm among the members and supporters of Zion Ministry to be reckless, unacceptable, inflammatory, and unbecoming of a religious leader who is expected to foster peace and unity rather than sow discord within the Christian community. Furthermore, these faithful emphasised that such behaviour is contrary to the role of a Priest, who should serve as a bridge builder within the community and a source of spiritual guidance, not as an antagonist or adversary.

Specifically, opinion leaders believe that since Fr Mbaka is not the handler of Evangelist Ebuka, his role can only be in private capacity and advisory, rather than trying to control. It is not the business of Evangelist Ebuka that Fr Mbaka considers Peter Obi a personal enemy or otherwise. The escalation of tensions between the two is highly unwarranted.

In some of his direct threats, Father Mbaka referred to himself as a “perfect penalty taker,” specifically targeting Evangelist Ebuka. He also ominously stated that he “knows how to quench his fire,” a language interpreted by opinion leaders as serious and dangerous provocation, excessive and deeply troubling. They advise Fr Mbaka to “tread softly” in his public communications, urging him to reflect on the potential consequences of his words if the unthinkable happens.

The antagonistic stance of Fr Mbaka is not the expected reward to an ally, especially given the significant support he has enjoyed from Evangelist Ebuka during his travails. This unwarranted hostility has raised questions about the motivations behind the threats.

Although many Christians believe we are living in the end times, should brothers rise against brothers? Are they not working for the same kingdom? As Paul plants and Apollus waters, is it not God that still brings the increase?

In light of the gravity with which Father Mbaka’s threats are viewed opinion leaders are calling on him to desist from further threatening activities to avoid intervention by law enforcement agencies, who view threat to life as a serious matter. This is true because if Evangelist Ebuka Obi comes to any harm, Father Mbaka will be held fully accountable. While fully confident of God’s unassailable protection, supporters of Evangelist Ebuka reaffirm their commitment to playing their human and legal roles in ensuring the peace and safety of the hardworking Spiritual Director.

At this junction, I urge all well-meaning Nigerians, the Christian community and all relevant authorities to take notice of this negative development and ensure that peace prevails. The safety of Evangelist Ebuka Obi and his congregation should be of serious public interest, same as that of every single Nigerian soul.

As the proverbial Peacemaker, I urge all stakeholders and the general public to remain calm and prayerful while urging the two gladiators to embrace dialogue and reconciliation in resolving any differences between them!

GamingHow I Became Africa's Gaming Software Provider-Sportsbook Engine CEO, Austin Udu by NewsNet(op): 1:17pm On Jun 04, 2025
Austin Udu, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of SportsBook Engine, the first indigenous gaming software provider, has explained how he meandered his way to the top as the first and only African-owned software provider.
Having achieved a remarkable feat in the gaming industry, Udu started his journey as a job-seeking fresh graduate, then took the critical decision to set up shop as an agent for a sports betting operator, the rest of his journey in the Nigerian gaming environment has been purpose-driven, calculated and deliberate.
"My journey in the gaming sector began with an impactful one-year tenure at a prominent betting company as an agent. During this time, I focused my skills on sports betting shop management. Then began with an impactful 8-year tenure at a prominent virtual game company. During this time, I honed my skills in game development, user engagement, and operational strategy. Recognizing the burgeoning potential in sports betting, I leveraged this experience to establish my own ventures."
Udu's association with Nairabet, the company that offered him a foothold in business lasted two years, then he made the big move of starting a sports betting company, Alphabet in his home state, Delta. It did not take long for the Austrian company suppliers he was working with noticed his enterprising business acumen and then proposed an offer that he could not refuse.
As it would amount to conflict of interest to continue running his business side-by-side, he decided to cease his personal interest to fully concentrate on his assignment as the representative of the Austrian company in Nigeria and Africa.
As it stands, Udu runs three thriving companies in the gaming industry with footprints in Nigeria, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda, Gambia and Tanzania with more prospects in view.
“I was an agent of Nairabet. I had gone to Bet9Ja and they said my shop was too close to another shop.
I then decided to go to Nairabet. There were between two and five major companies then-Nairabet, Bet9Ja, 1960bet, Merrybet and Surebet. I think Sportybet was there but they were doing just retail,” said Udu. “Online had not really advanced in those days. It was more of retail; shop-based. I joined Nairabet as an agent.
I had a retail shop in Ijesha. I said to myself that I could do more than just being an agent. I convinced myself that I could be an operator. I noticed then that of the two products I took from Nairabet, virtual games brought in more money.”
According to him, “I made deeper inquiries about it from the virtual game provider with a view to know more about the business. I then decided to float a betting company in Delta State. I transitioned from an agent to an operator in a space of four months. The virtual game company I was working with then decided that since I was giving them resourceful input as to how they could develop better games, they will
like me to join them as their representative in Africa. They invited me to Austria in 2014.”
The meeting went well and Udu came back and started reselling for them and “doing a whole lot of development.”
He needed eight years to consolidate before making his next big move in 2017.
“I decided to develop a product here in Nigeria. To have the average sportsbook takes about five years. We went commercial in 2022,” Udu stated. “We continued from there. I left that company in 2022, that was when I decided to intensify product development. I have been in the business of providing software products for the gaming industry for 10 years.”
In a few weeks, SportsBook Engine will earn the most coveted mark on its scorecard: a GLI certification.
“We are currently testing with GLI. That should be in our bag in about four weeks. GLI is the Number One international certification that is needful in the gaming industry. We are going for it because we don’t intend to be restricted to Africa. In the next five years, we want to be number one software provider in the gaming industry not just for Africa, but in Asia and Europe,” said Udu. “If you count the top three, we want to be mentioned among them. We are inspired by the likes of Interswitch. It is a Nigerian payment company. If you check anywhere in the world, Interswitch is known.
We want Sportsbook Engine to be positioned in that manner, where if you are talking of gaming software, you think of Sportsbook Engine.” Udu is convinced that companies like his that are pacesetters and patriotic should be be supported with intentional government policies.
“It should be a government policy like we have in the oil industry, that whatever can be obtained here in Nigeria in the gaming industry, you don’t have to go out there to source it. That way, the money stays in the country,” he added.
Udu never imagined that his chosen task was going to be an easy one, but he is determined to face it frontally.
“This is our contribution to Nigeria and Africa’s development,” said Udu, a graduate of Agricultural Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University. We are solving problems for the companies that cannot afford the foreign software providers. They charge a whole lot and they charge in hard currency,” Udu
disclosed. “We are also trying to solve the problem of pressure on our foreign exchange. We don’t need anybody to be taking our monies out. This business is run on revenue share basis. If you make, for example, N1 billion. About 15% of that goes out of this country to the the platform providers. We want to keep that money here. We have been able to solve the fuel issue with Dangote keeping our monies here. We want to be able to do that for the gaming industry through SportsBook Engine.”

There was much-needed relief on Tuesday for struggling patients at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia, as the Don Lulu Foundation led by its Chairman and Founder, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) brought smiles and hope through a heartwarming act of kindness.

Mayor Igbokwe accompanied by his close associates visited the hospital and fully settled the outstanding medical bills of numerous patients who were unable to afford their treatment.

The Chief Medical Director of FMC Umuahia, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi, received igbokwe and underscored the importance of the visit, highlighting its impact on patients facing severe financial challenges.

Speaking on the foundation’s mission, Igbokwe said, “What happened at FMC today is one of the many ways my foundation reaches out to humanity.” He also toured the hospital wards, interacting with patients, offering prayers, words of encouragement, and assuring them of their recovery, emphasizing that the Don Lulu Foundation had covered all their medical expenses.

Accompanying the Mayor was the Right Honourable Kelechi Onuzuruike, who commended his unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes, describing Mayor Igbokwe’s selflessness as “truly admirable and worthy of emulation.”

CrimeCourt Convicts Blogger For Cyberbullying MFM Founder, Dr Olukoya by NewsNet(op): 11:10am On Apr 30, 2025
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted a blogger, Adewale Ajimisogbe, for cyberbullying and libelling the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Olukoya.

Ajimisogbe pleaded guilty to the charges following a plea bargain agreement he entered into with the police.

He, along with a former MFM member, Ayotunde Richards, were arraigned before the court on March 20, 2024, over a 12-count charge of conspiracy, cyberbullying, and libel.

While the two defendants were jointly charged on three counts of conspiracy to commit felony to wit, cyberstalking, and defamation, Ajimisogbe was slammed with an additional nine counts of libel.

The police prosecutor, Nosa Uhumwangho, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred between December 2023 and February 2024.

Uhumwangho stated that Ajimisogbe, using a blogging platform called “Postreporters,” published a report with the title: “He is a criminal and behind all illegal acts – Ex-MFM Church singer sues founder Daniel Olukoya and others, seeks N15.5 billion in damages for illegal detention and breach of human rights.”

The prosecutor asserted that these actions violated Sections 27 and 24(1)(b)(2)(a)(i) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, making them punishable under the same law.

Both defendants initially pleaded not guilty to the charges. However Ajimisogbe later changed his plea after realising the strength of the evidence against him.

As part of the plea bargain arrangement, he agreed to issue a public apology, publish a formal retraction, and forfeit N50,000 to the federal government, after pleading guilty to all the charges.

The defence lawyer, Ife Ajayi, urged the court to accept the terms of the plea bargain, stating that his client was a first-time offender with no previous criminal record.

Ajayi also informed the court that Ajimisogbe had expressed remorse and offered an unreserved apology to the nominal complainant, who he regards as a father figure, and promised not to repeat his actions in the future.

The prosecutor, the counsel for the second defendant, Ademola Adewale, and the lawyer representing the nominal complainant, Adegboye, did not oppose the application.

After listening to the lawyers, Justice Lewis-Allagoa held, “After careful consideration of the application and the submissions from counsel, the plea bargain agreement is hereby granted. The first defendant is to forfeit N50,000 to the state.

"That the matter is further adjourned to June 3, 2025 for the trial of the second defendant," the judge held.

Christianity EtcEvangelist Ebuka Obi Not Reason For Blogger Ijele's Continued Detention by NewsNet(op): 4:48pm On Apr 07, 2025
The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has debunked media reports attributing the continued detention of a blogger, Harrison Ofoegbu (Ijele Speaks) to the ministry.

At a press conference in Lagos on Saturday, the ministry’s Media Adviser, Dan Aibangbe, and members of the legal team described reports by Sahara Reporters that Ofoegbu had been detained by its Spiritual Director, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, for one year as completely false and misleading, explaining that the blogger’s release order was signed by the court on August 15, 2024, after he perfected his bail conditions.

However, Ofoegbu is being held for other cases unconnected with Zion Ministry including a case at the Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State. Zion said Sahara Reporters was fully aware of this but has instead chosen to mislead the public with falsehood, Aibangbe explained.

He also clarified that Ofoegbu was on trial for threatening the life of Evangelist Ebuka.

Mrs Ugonna Okpara of the Zion Legal team who showed journalists at the conference the release papers signed by the court, explained that the blogger’s defence counsel had confirmed to the judge who tried to find out why he was still in detention that their client was being held for another case at the Federal High Court in Awka which has nothing to do with Zion Ministry or Evangelist Ebuka Obi.

Other members of the ministry’s Legal team, Kingsley Okigbo and Gerty Iloegbunam, who spoke at the briefing also called on the journalists to carry out their investigation at the Correctional Center to confirm why the blogger was still in detention. They equally advised the media not to be deceived by the false and misleading account being circulated by Sahara Reporers.

Christianity EtcX-raying Apostle Joshua Suleman At 53 by NewsNet(op): 2:26pm On Mar 23, 2025
By Dan Aibangbe

The present and future of Nigeria is in dire need of heroes in a season bereft of quality leadership and mentorship. In a seemingly hopeless environment, we need to deploy our prisms to amplify rare spectres of individual phenomena, such as the commemoration of the birth of a man of impact in the mould of Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Founder and Senior Executive of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide.

For those who know, it takes just a few good men to turn the fortunes of a nation around, yet the more good men, the merrier. Nigerians need to positively identify and showcase those men whose starlight must adorn the consternation of the firmament known as Nigeria. The youths must never allow gross darkness to obliterate their vision of a brighter future.

It is now over five decades since Apostle Johnson Suleman, the firebrand who this article is showcasing was gifted to mankind. through the family of Hon Imuodu Sule and Deaconess Esther Imoudu Sule, in the ancient municipality called Benin City.

Apostle Suleman is an early riser. By his late teenage (at 19), he had already become a successful person, having completed early childhood education as well as earned his first millions in Cocoa trading!

That early success is nothing, compared to what his youthful vision and passion have brought him to become today, for he still deemed it fit to pursue tertiary education at the University of Benin. He still deemed it necessary to increase his passion for hard work, discipline, humility and patient submission to tutelage, training and experience, which trajectory culminated in the thoroughbred Edo Man with a multinational flavour that we know. The youths of today must take note of this very important detail and also realise that education is not a scam but rather a necessary enabler!

By the time Apostle clocked 33 years in 2004 (about that same age Jesus fully blossomed in ministry), he had been inspired to establish the Omega Fire Ministry International. Of course he went through the process, having been ordained as a Minister by the fiery pioneering Pentecostal Evangelist, Archbishop Benson Idahosa. Apart from the maturity process, he also found reliable mentoring and ministerial parental guidance in Pastor Adeboye of the RCCG, Pa Ayo Oritsejafor of the Word of Life Bible Church, Dr D.K. Olukoya of the MFM, Papa David Oyedepo of the Winners and many other notable Generals of Christian Ministry in Nigeria.

The Apostle’s adventure into Christian Ministry can be traced to his early life’s fervour for the Word of God, which culminated into the direct instructions he received to start working to alleviate the sufferings of the poor, indigent and underprivileged backed by what was revealed to him as the Omega Fire anointing. He is definitely not one of the many ‘Pastorprenuers’ we see today, who are mainly driven by the search for glory or wealth, having already been a millionaire by the age of nineteen. His close associates affirm he does not take decisions without the leading of the commander in chief of the armed forces of Heaven, the Holy Spirit. I am also reliably informed that he started out after realising he has been invested with what he calls the Omega Fire, which assured him of success and victory over challenges and circumstances he used to fear.

The Omega Fire Ministry, is the core vehicle through which he ministers Empowerment, Peace and Reconciliations. Essentially it is an environment for networking for personal growth and spiritual development.

Driven by compassion for the underprivileged, you will find a large chunk of the Apostle’s charity going out to Widows and the indigent members of the society. Apostle Suleman is also an aggressive soul-winner and evangelist whose philosophy is that there’s an earthly replica and manifestation of the spiritual hellfire, which he must actively confront and deprive of access to afflict believers and unbelievers alike.

Aside from Apostle Suleman’s distinctive personal traits of humility, compassion, passion, discipline, industry and vision, he is closely supported by his ideal help-mate, Pastor Lizzy Suleman. She is a highly empowered but extra-ordinarily submissive spouse, in spite of her advanced education. She is the ideal homemaker, fruitful, industrious and adorable woman of substance that is rare to find in our modern times.

Pastor Lizzy Suleman, a mother of six vibrant children, effortlessly combines the demanding tasks of raising God-honouring biological children as well as children of the ministry. I guess her secret recipe must be her extreme devotion to God and her spouse with love on a level that transcends common human frailties. You can never find her wanting either at the home front or at ministerial levels. Her peaceful demeanour is pervasive and indispensable to maintaining the atmosphere for progressive growth that Apostle Suleman and the Omega Fire Ministries have enjoyed till date. The two-in-one disciples of Jesus Christ form a perfect core team, with Sister Lizzy as the goal-keeper and Apostle Johnson as the Striker!

Regardless of the highly demanding schedules of an international minister of the gospel, Apostle Suleman remains an easy-going and jovial person. Beyond his passion for soul-winning and care for Widows and the indigent, he is also a sporting man who takes to football and Table Tennis, among other recreational activities. He is a strong believer in early childhood education as an essential pillar for success. For this purpose, he provides high quality standard education at subsidised rates at Primary and Secondary levels solely for the benefit of the indigent children in the society. When this writer asked about the logical extension of this enterprise to tertiary levels, the response received from an inside source was that Apostle would not think of it, no matter how good and logical it may appear, except at the direction of the Holy Spirit!

Beyond the noise and hypnotic kaleidoscope of social media today, beyond the prevailing environment suffocating with obscene vulgarity, near madness and debauchery, I hereby present a viable option to our teaming youths, that they do have a better future beyond yahoo-yahoo, money rituals, gambling and other vices. The fact you were born indigent is not a genuine excuse to remain so.

A bitter family dispute has erupted within the household of the late Herbert Wigwe, with accusations of reckless spending, misinformation, and neglect tearing through the family. At the center of the controversy is the alleged squandering of N500 million by certain family members in just six months, as well as claims of falsehoods being spread by Aunty Joyce, a prominent figure in the family.

According to insiders, the N500 million was spent by individuals described as “dependents of Herbert Wigwe,” with receipts and records of the expenditures said to exist. When Aigboje, a close associate of the family, intervened to halt the excessive spending, he was met with resistance and labeled as “controlling.” Aigboje reportedly stated, “We don’t do things like that here. If Herbert had spent like you, there would be nothing left for his children.” Despite his efforts to restore financial discipline, some family members have continued to criticize his involvement.

The drama took a personal turn when Aunty Joyce took to an online TV for a no-hold barred interview where she spread false information about Herbert Wigwe. She allegedly claimed that politics was Herbert’s primary interest and falsely stated that the Super Bowl event where he met his ill-fated death was his first, when in fact, it was his fifth. She also said in the Interview that Aigboje, Herbert’s friend and business partner suspended the monthly stipend to Pastor Shyngle. These claims have been dismissed as baseless by those close to Herbert, who have criticized Aunty Joyce for her alleged tendency to misrepresent facts.

In a scathing rebuke, a source close to the family said, “If lying were a profession, Aunty Joyce would be the founder and CEO of the Aunty Joyce Wigwe Institute of Lying, Isiokpo, Rivers State. Rest assured, she and lies have become inseparable.”

The allegations have further strained relationships within the family, with some members being accused of neglecting their responsibilities to Osita’s widow and children after his passing. Only Herbert and Aigboje are said to have stepped up to provide meaningful support, with Aigboje mentoring Osita’s son, who is now attending the London School of Economics (LSE).

As the family feud continues to unfold, questions remain about accountability and transparency.

PropertiesPastor Ashimolowo Responds To Land Dispute Allegations, Warns Against Defamation by NewsNet(op): 9:54am On Feb 28, 2025
The legal representatives of Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo has issued a firm rejoinder to media reports concerning a petition filed by Arch-View Investments Limited. The petition, submitted to the Ogun State House of Assembly, accuses Pastor Ashimolowo of unlawfully selling lands belonging to Bluestone Garden City Limited.

In a statement released on Friday, Ashimolowo’s legal team categorically denied the allegations, describing them as baseless, malicious, and misleading. They clarified that the disputed transaction was between Arch-View Investments Limited and Bluestone Garden City Limited, not Pastor Ashimolowo as an individual.

Read the full statement below;

REJOINDER TO DEFARMATORY PUBLICATIONS ON PETITION AGAINST PASTOR MATTHEW ASHIMOLOWO ON SALE OF LAND BELONGING TO BLUESTONE GARDEN CITY LIMITED AND LETTER OF INVITATION BY THE OGUN STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

We are Solicitors to Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo and Bluestone Garden City Limited, our Clients and on their behalf respond to the numerous media publications on the above subject Petition presented by Arch-View Investments Limited against Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo over alleged sale of land belonging to Bluestone Garden City Limited, as follows:

1.While our Clients acknowledge the receipt of this Petition dated 19th February, 2025, forwarded electronically, they however, deny the very weighty llegations made against Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, as they are not only baseless, malicious in nature, but full of falsehood, and calculated misrepresentation and suppression of material facts;

2. We wish to note that the transaction in contention, subject of the Petition is between Arch-View Investment Limited and Bluestone Properties Limited, and not Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo as an individual as wrongly misrepresented.

SUMMARY OF TRUE FACTS IN CONTENTION:

3.By the agreed terms of the Contract of Sale between both parties (i.e. Bluestone Garden City Limited, and Arc-View Investments Limited), dated 1st August, 2022, which was entered into, after extensive deliberations, the modes of payment were agreed to by both parties as contained in the Agreement.

4.The payment period was to be within two {2} years, which payment was to be completed in April, 2024, and but failed in four years of unfulfilled obligations and promises, inspite of a moratorium period of over 4 months obliged to the Company. Arch-View Investment Limited totally disregarded the payment arrangement, and the last payment received was in June, 2024;

5.Arch-View Investment Limited had on several times defaulted in her on her payment proposal and thereby made nonsense of and destroyed our Client’s business projections based on the arrangement of the payment, which formed the premise of our Client agreeing to same;

6.Bluestone Garden City Limited had on several times bent backward in overlooking the Arch-View Investment Limited’s default in meeting her financial obligations as agreed to by parties, which persists, and view that it tends to suggest that ab-initio the Company really knew what she desired to do and the recent action is an indication of the intent;

7.Our Client also noted that, while stagnating payments to her, Arch-View Investment Limited had other land transactions with some others, wherein the Company made outright payment with stiff conditions for the land purchase she made and, in such others, was not allowed spread of payment, and the company ensured full outright payment without fail;

8.While our Client holds further that she had at all time material, showed good faith and understanding in ensuring full consummation of the contract, and also kept to the spirit of the contract, Arch-View Investment Limited did not show sufficient respect and commitment in her financial obligations as agreed to by parties and till date only a fraction sum which is less than 36% of the Sale price was made;

9.Our Client is therefore constrained to reconsider her business relationship with Arch-View Investment Limited, and consequently terminated the Contract agreement in its entirety and informed that a refund of the payments made would be obliged in the manner it was paid, as the premise and context of the agreement has been eroded by Arch-View Investment Limited, which is not acceptable to our Client;

10.Accordingly, your Company’s workmen or officers are forthwith barred and or prohibited from entering any part of the 285 Acres of land subject;

11.Following the stalemate between both parties on the above subject, Arch-View Investment Limited sought the intervention and mediation of His Excellency, the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, for a mediation;

12.Following the intervention and mediation by His Excellency, the underlisted terms were proposed and same are acceptable to our client:

i-The 35 Acres at the Folakan Area (Parcel A) be released by Bluestone at the earlier rate which parties negotiated, while both parties should renegotiate and agree to current price for Papa lanto Area;

ii-Access to the 35 Acres will be allowed upon formal Agreement of parties on the above terms; or

iii-Bluestone refunds monies paid in respect of the Papa Area (Parcel B);
ivThe said refund shall be in-tandem with the mode of payment by installment made by your Company;

13.Arc-View rejected the proposal and made a Criminal Complaint made against our Client to the Ogun State Police Command, in which the Police came to a conclusion that the issues between parties are purely Civil and the intervened and mediate as did by His Excellency, our Client is constrained to again respect and honour the Institution and in particular the DCP State CID and therefore, makes the underlisted terms as follows:

i-A total of 78 Acres would be released by our Client to Arc-View;

ii-The 35 Acres at the Folakan Area (Parcel A) would be released at the rate per Acre agreed to at the inception of the transaction;

iii-The 43 Acres at the Papa Area (Parcel B) would be released at a new rate per Acre;
ivAccess to both lands shall only be allowed upon formal Agreement of parties on the above terms, which remain valid till close of work on Monday, 17th February, 2025, and Execution of relevant Deeds and documents in the regard.

14.Arc-view was also notified that, we do not receive the Company’s acceptance as stated above, then our Client would be constrained to rescind her reconsider her position, and hold as follows:
iiBluestone shall refund the entire monies paid by your Company in respect of the land;
iiiThe said refund shall be in-tandem with the mode of payment by installment made by the Company.

15.After attempting several unsuccessful mediation efforts with the involvement of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Nigerian Police, Arc-View turned to the Ogun State House of Assembly in an attempt to find leverage where all other avenues have failed. This raises serious concerns about the true motives behind the Petition. Had Arch-View been genuinely interested in resolving the dispute, they would have sought legal recourse through the Courts or approached relevant law enforcement agencies, rather than seeking to use the House of Assembly as a tool for personal gain;

16.It is therefore to the dismay and shocking disbelief of our Clients, the damaging and defamatory Petition made to the Ogun State House of Assembly, and the wide publications made by some media outfits without prior confirmation of the true facts and thereby maligning our Clients before the general public;

17.Consequently therefore, we hereby issue a strong and unequivocal warning to all media outlets and individuals engaged in the dissemination of defamatory and misleading information against Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo. Any further attempt to tarnish his reputation will be met with swift legal action. Pastor Ashimolowo's image has been seriously misrepresented, and the spread of such misinformation has resulted in significant harm to his character. The public is being misled, and it is imperative that the media refrain from further defamatory statements or publications that are unfounded and unsupported by factual evidence;

18.We also draw attention to the fact that the petition presented by Arch-View, based on false premises and a breach of contract on their part, should be handled through the appropriate legal channels, including civil or criminal litigation, and not through the politicization of a matter that is purely contractual in nature.

PropertiesFamily Drags Late Herbert Wigwe’s 26-year-old Daughter To Court Over Inheritance by NewsNet(op):
One year after the painful death of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, the battle over his assets has continued to rage.

The scuffle over the Estate of the late banker has seen his family members – father, siblings and cousins locking horns with his children over their rightful inheritance.

October last year, the media reported that the family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe had veiled interest in the bequest of the late banker’s children and sought to disinherit them through modification of late Herbert Wigwe’s Will, but the family vehemently denied the reports.

Later, a caveat, challenging the late banker’s Will, filed by one Christian Chukwuka Wigwe, who claimed to be a cousin of the deceased, on behalf of the deceased’s father - Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, surfaced online.

The emergence of the caveat filed at the Probate Registry challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate as contained in his Will forced the family, especially its patriarch, Pastor Shyngle Wigwe, to retract their earlier denials, which subsequently turned into statements like “we have withdrawn the suit. Our concern was the welfare of the children”.

While the court ruling reported by the media today showed that the family lied about withdrawing the suit challenging the distribution of the late banker’s Estate, joining Miss Otutochi Channel Wigwe, late Herbert Wigwe’s daughter, in a suit involving Uche Wigwe and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, is really disturbing. Can we really say the Wigwe family is concerned about the welfare of the children?

Miss Otutochi Wigwe is only 26 years old and has just lost her father. Does it ever occur to the family that the children of the late banker are the worst hit by his untimely and painful death? Are Herbert Wigwe’s children safe with the Wigwe family? Has the Wigwe family shown the warmth and responsibility that could endear the children to them?

A 90-year-old man dragging his grand-daughter before a court does not suggest that the children of the deceased will ever find safety within their father’s household. Clearly, there is deep-seated hatred and envy towards the children of the deceased because of what their father bequeathed to them.

Judging by how far Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and his cohort have gone in their quest to disinherit Herbert Wigwe’s children, it is evident that the Wigwe family’s greed is now untamable. The family does not care in sacrificing their own granddaughter in the quest to satisfy their rapacious appetite.

Even though the court has protected the children against the Wigwe family by ruling that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe and Christian Chukwuka Wigwe are “not entitled to seek the reliefs” brought before it, one needs to ask what the real interest of the Wigwe family is in this matter? What have Herbert Wigwe’s children done to their family that is fueling this much hatred towards them?

Why did Emeka Wigwe try to prevent the children from visiting and praying at their father’s graveside at Isiokpo ahead of the first anniversary of his death? A video, which emerged online, showed Emeka Wigwe, their uncle, struggling with officers of the Department of the States Services (DSS) in his bid to prevent the vehicle that conveyed the children from exiting their father’s graveyard.

With these ugly developments, where do Herbert Wigwe’s children find safety? Even though the law already protected the children with its ruling, happenings within the Wigwe family should compel everyone to think deeply about physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing of these children.

Christianity EtcIbadan CCRW Crusade: Ashimolowo Preaches Love, Shares Free Food, Medicals by NewsNet(op):
The city of Ibadan came alive recently when the Convener Christ Compassion for the Rural World, CCRW, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, brought succour to the residence by providing free food, clothing and medical care for over 300,000 people.
National Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State, the venue of the 2024 Ibadan This Is Love Crusade, had children, teenagers, adults and the elderly in attendance, who thronged the Stadium to either receive rice, beans, garri , sugar, Noddles, drugs, medicals and clothing materials.
Also, medical outreach Services were extended to both the young and the elderly in the areas of major and minor surgeries, eye test and distribution of over 7,000 eye glasses.
People from different states in the country attended the 6-day event, which kicked off on Monday November 25 and ended on November 30.
Ashimolowo, who doubles as the founder of Kingsway International Christan Centre KICC urged Nigerians to keep encouraging one another and to also spread love.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the crusade, the clergyman explained how excited and fulfilled he felt seeing the joy and smiles that beamed the faces of beneficiaries.
”We need to make a difference in someone’s life We (Nigerians) need to encourage people near us, we need to encourage one another, be your brother’s keeper and you will be amazed at the outcome.
“So, in this Christmas do something for the next person near you. As a pastor in England for 40 years and for the past 12 years we’ve been giving a thousand hampers to people in England because there is poverty everywhere.

” And 90 percent of about that 1000 hampers in England goes to white families and that tells you poverty does not know colour or tribe.”

Also, speaking about his assessment and impression of the Ibadan crusade, the globally respected clergy said: “It has been five days of this crusade, so far so good.

“We give God all glory; we give him all the praise for how far He has helped us. “We were in shock as to the level of response from Ibadan people. The response was overwhelming.

“sometimes posters billboards and radio interviews are hard to believe by the nature of the kind of compassion crusade we came with, especially when you are telling people you’re bringing 150,000 bags of beans; 150,000 bags of rice, 50, 000 bags of garri and medicals.

“it just looks almost impossible but they came. The people were glad. So it has been more than expected. It has been successful and it has been quite a testimony.”
Explaining further, Ashimolowo said that the “Ibadan crusade and medical services were probably three to four times bigger than Ikorodu and handling was far better. Also the cooperation of the churches here was great, so that is one of the reasons we registered huge success.

” On Thursday for instance, we had about six different groups of people the largest, the reasons being the eye people who are here waiting to see optometrists probably in excess of three thousand people.

“We’re ready for them because we have 7, 000 glasses to give out, apart from that, the next group was the 60 years and above and we’re ready for them too. We had 30,000 dewormers for children.

“There is a lot of challenges, the children born in Nigeria have a lot of problem with the water they drink. Many of the satchet water people that sell around we don’t even know the source, how clean and treated they are and so we are adequately prepared because we have medicine for the young men, nursing mothers, we have medicine for the older men.

“People troopedi into the Liberty stadium in their thousands to benefit from all that were distributed. I am overjoyed by the outcome of the outreach.

“The people who were operated upon; we were told it lasted for over 10 hours, and there was even a surgery that lasted 13 hours. There were major surgeries.
” I must commend that the doctors handled top cases. For 10-hour to 13-hour, they handled tough surgeries such as reshaping faces, CCRW is responsible for as much as two to three weeks post surgeries while they’re in the hospital and even when they finish and are living the hospital CCRW will also give them some curative medicine to help them manage their lives until they are okay and the people are grateful.

“The people that have had hernia taking out, fibroids taken out and some of them could be having post surgery treatment. I’m sure so far so good, we have had more than 70 intensive surgeries that took 10-hour to 13-hour.. But in all we had not less than 711 surgeries.

“At a time, I observed that for the older women we don’t have clothes for them, the 130, 000 we had this year, are these clothes from the US, you can’t give Mama, our mothers trousers to be wearing or blouse.

“So within a short time I had to take money from my own company to quickly bring in 7,000 Ankara and as the Ankara came late. Sometimes God knows how he does his things. I was not happy with the girl who was bringing the Ankara, not knowing that she had challenges while she was coming, she had to sleep in Abeokuta and eventually she arrived here and immediately they saw it, the old women began to clap their hands, praising God and I really thank God for everything.

“People came all the way from Akure, Igboho, people came from Owo, Delta State, Port Harcourt, Lagos, and it’s very fulfilling to see people saved and they were grateful and the prayers they offered you could see it from the bottom of their hearts.

“I always remind them that we are not doing this because we have excess money, and we are not an NGO. We’re the body of Christ, we are Christ compassion to the rural world we are doing this for the love of God. So it was fulfilling.”
Speaking, the Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Reverend Samson Ajetomobi, who is the founder of ‘Men of Issachar Vision’ and the Chairman CCRW Crusade, said, “The school of ministry was to equip every leader and empower various pastors to be able to function in their various capacities and be effective.

“It was a meeting opened to all churches irrespective of the denomination because the more equipped we are, the healthier the church becomes.

“The expectation from the conference was to ensure that every minister goes back to do what he or she had learned. How to do ministry better, how to lead better with their congregation and how to grow the capacity of what God has called them to do.

“The impact of the leadership conference is to know that once a leader is changed, the followership would change.
“Once, the leadership knows better and does better, it will influence the followership and there will be lots of great challenges in the society”, he noted.
Meanwhile, the Convener of Christ Compassion to the Rural World CCRW Crusade, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, expressed his satisfaction to the success of the crusade.

“I believe God exceeded our expectations. From the first night to the last day of the crusade, we were in shock as to the level of impartation.

“People came with great expectations especially when they heard on radio that we are going to give out foodstuffs, drugs, medicals, among others.

BusinessWhat Happens When Nigeria's Business Giants Close Shop? by NewsNet(op): 12:52pm On Nov 21, 2024
Nigeria is playing a dangerous game with its biggest employers and investors. Companies like MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, and even businesses founded by notable Nigerians like Mike Adenuga’s Glo and Dangote Refinery, which all together employ over 1.5 million Nigerians directly and indirectly, are facing constant harassment from regulators and highly placed individuals within the government. Take MTN Nigeria and Airtel Nigeria for example - these telecom giants alone faced over ₦1 trillion in regulatory demands last year, while MultiChoice has battled multiple regulatory showdowns over the same issues.

It's like being punished twice for doing business - and it seems like these companies have had enough.

If these major corporations decide to leave Nigeria, and even the Nigerian owned businesses decide to exit their home country and focus on other countries, the impact would be catastrophic.

Let's break it down: MTN Nigeria contributes about 4.5% to Nigeria's GDP, and Dangote Refinery is projected to add $21 billion to Nigeria's GDP annually. Together with BAT Nigeria and Airtel Nigeria, these companies make up at least 10% of our formal employment sector.

That's not just statistics - it's real people.

We're talking about your neighbor who sells MTN recharge cards at Nkoplu bus stop in Port Harcourt, your cousin who just started working at Dangote Refinery, your friend who's a mid level manager at BAT Nigeria, or that funny guy you meet occasionally at the barbershop in Ojodu Berger that drives one of the Glo Ogas.

But the damage goes deeper. When industry leaders like Dangote Refinery or MultiChoice face constant regulatory battles that bleed them in the Nigerian market thanks to various macroeconomic issues, long-running attacks and de-marketing by various regulatory bodies, politicians and misinformed citizens, it scares away other investors. Nigeria's foreign direct investment for Q2- 2024 dropped to $29.83 million (65% decline compared to Q2- 2023).

Think about it: if you hear that BAT Nigeria, after 110 years in Nigeria, is struggling with multiple regulatory agencies, would you invest here? Global investors are watching as our largest telecommunications companies continue to battle through one regulatory crisis after another. Each time MultiChoice or Airtel Nigeria makes headlines for regulatory disputes, we lose potential investments worth billions of dollars.

Do we want to follow the path of countries where corporate harassment led to economic collapse? Or should we learn from business-friendly African nations that are attracting the same companies we're pushing away? The consequences - will affect every Nigerian, from the street vendor selling DStv subscriptions to the thousands employed in Dangote's supply chain.
