https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Ibikunle-Amosun-500x300-420x252.jpg Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun believes that the 18,000 minimum wage being paid to workers in the country is inadequate to sustain the average family. His Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dayo Adeneye revealed this today while speaking with TVC newcaster, Blessing Idahosa. Adeneye noted that Ogun State is one of the few states in the country that pays N18,000 minimum wage and that if it had been possible, the governor would have loved to pay more. Adeneye also revealed that the workers in the state enjoyed a 10% bonus this Christmas and were actually paid December salaries before Xmas day. Recently, states in Nigeria have been unable to pay workers salaries promptly and some governors had to rely on a bailout by the Federal Government to pay backlog of owed remunerations. A cross section of Nigerians on Twitter have expressed their disappointment over the appointment of Dr. Tunde Fowler as the new CEO/Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Nigerians who use the social media platform believe Fowler shouldn’t have been appointed because he possesses a fake honorary degree from a unaccredited Irish University, the Irish International University. Fowler had his higher education in the United States where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the California State University. Fowler, who holds an Honorary Doctorate Degree of the Irish International University, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Business Management Association of the United Kingdom. While, announcing his appointment, Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity stated that Fowler will occupy the position in acting capacity until his appointment is confirmed by the Senate. Will the senate approve Fowler’s appointment despite alleged fake doctorate degree? https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/tweet1.png https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/tweet2.png Source: http://naijalog.com/fowlers-irish-university-certificate-is-phony-nigerians-say-on-twitter/ |

https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/dino.png Dino Melaye prides himself of being a change agent, but he is a man who never walks the talk It is only in Nigeria, that people like Melaye who fight for the cause of their pockets, win elections and flaunt their wealth at improvised Nigerians who they claim they are running a change crusade for. I'm not saying activists need to be poor, no no, they need to however, show restrain in how they behave in public. On his twitter handle he describes himself thus, 'Senator of the FRN,former member house of reps, executive sec,Anti Corruption network. Democratic evangelist. Private Investigator.' His twitter bio before he became a senator used to be 'ACN Chieftain, former member House of Representatives and Human Right Activist.' A blogger once asked him, What qualifies you to be a human right activist? Dino Melaye answered thus: What qualifies anybody for that matter to become a human right activist is once you become a voice of the voiceless and you speak for those who can’t speak for themselves you become a human right activists, in an unjust society challenge is a crime, once you try to advocate for change and the emancipation of the less privileged and the oppressed of society, I regard you as an human right activist. However, he negates all these, he is a wife-basher, but that is stale news, gone were those days, he has since remarried, and we hope the new Madam is not covering up the bruises with make up. Let's come to this day. Once he was elected a senator in April, he started an advocacy to reduce the cost of governance, an act which will bring about 'change and the emancipation of the less privileged and the oppressed of society, ' he represents. I'm 'shunting the queue', the Senate is yet to settle or begin, posterity will judge if Dino will do right. After the initial tough talk, all we see him do nowadays is share picture of his expensive garage, exotic wine, affluent lifestyle, backstabbing moments in the senate, nothing personal, but will someone ask 'Ibo ni ole ti ri owo?' https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/dino1.jpg Where has he worked, how much did he earn, oh, I forgot, he was a former House of Reps 'legisi-lootor', that gives himself and his cronies right to enjoy the luxuries obtained from various shady deals, kickbacks and taxpayers sweat. But the relevant question now is how many life changing bills did he spearhead then? Nothing of note, as far as I can remember, wait he failed to support Obasanjo's third term bid because he was not a Baba Iyabo boy. Now he has began again, 'chopping the life of his head' in a yacht belonging to Aliko Dangote, alleging that he was meeting with the businessman. Meeting my foot, Dino Melaye, Saraki's crony, spokesman of the Senate President's caucus 'Likemind' is doing nothing but lobbying Dangote, reassuring him that for an agreed fee I will help you fix anything in the senate. Melaye is not an activist but a filthy politician, fair weather friend, who only supports a cause for a gain. I am just a concerned Nigerian who knows that with Dino Melaye and his cronies in control of the NASS , we don enter one chance again. |

https://naijalog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/doit.jpg NAIROBI, Kenya: President Barack Obama heralded Africa as a continent "on the move" Saturday as he opened a U.S.-sponsored business summit in Kenya, the East African nation where he has deep family ties. "Africa is one of the fastest growing regions of the world," Obama said. "People are being lifted out of poverty." Obama's visit to Kenya — the first by a sitting US president — has been highly anticipated in a nation that views him as a local son. The president's late father was born in Kenya and many family members still live here, including his elderly step-grandmother. "This is personal for me," Obama said. "There's a reason why my name is Barack Hussein Obama." Much of the president's visit is focused on boosting business and security ties with Kenya, a growing economy grappling with the threat of terrorism — most notably from the Somalia-based al-Shabab network. Nearly two dozen US lawmakers and 200 American investors have joined Obama on his trip, which also includes a stop in Ethiopia. Speaking at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit on Saturday, Obama announced more than $1 billion new commitments from the US government, as well as American banks, foundations and philanthropists. Half of the money will go to support women and young people, who Obama says face bigger obstacles when trying to start businesses. "If half of your team is not playing, you've got a problem," Obama said, referring to women excluded from the formal economy. Obama hosted the inaugural entrepreneurship summit at the White House in 2010. This year's conference is the first to be held in sub-Saharan Africa. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, who co-hosted the summit with Obama, lamented that the continent's security and other challenges, including the 2013 attack on an upscale Nairobi mall, had created a negative reputation. He said he hoped Obama's visit would help change the narrative about Kenya and Africa. "Africa is the world's newest and most promising frontier of limitless opportunity," Kenyatta said. "Gone are the days when the only lens to view our continent was one of despair and indignity." Obama arrived in Nairobi late Friday and spent the night reuniting with his father's family. Security was tight in the Kenyan capital, with some of the city's normally bustling streets closed to traffic and pedestrians during his visit. Still, there was palpable excitement in Nairobi for Obama's long-awaited visit. US and Kenyan flags lined the main road from the airport and billboards bearing Obama's picture dotted the city. Local newspapers marveled at the massive US secret service contingent that accompanies Obama whenever he travels overseas. Ahead of a formal meeting with Kenyatta on Friday afternoon, Obama was to lay a wreath at the site of the deadly 1998 bombing at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. AFP |

Brynn said that about 30 minutes later the man texted her sister asking for the pictures. While most appear to applaud the sisters' policing, others have slammed them for sticking their nose in other peoples' business. "No one safe out here any more," @PizzaPartyBen added. The billionaire also shared a picture of himself and United States president, Barack Obama who is on a 5-day trip to Africa. See how Elumelu’s week went, Read how Elumele's week went here: It has certainly been a hectic week for me, with travels to four countries in a matter of days. The week began with a visit to promote African entrepreneurship in Washington DC where I travelled as an invitee of the Federal Government. During his visit to the US, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR addressed a business roundtable dinner organised by the US Ch… I flew straight on to speak at the Forbes Afrique Forum in Brazzaville, Congo at the request of the publisher, Lucien Ebata, a good friend and supporter of The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF). It also proved an opportunity to meet briefly with United Bank for Africa Plc staff in the country – there is no substitute for meeting our people on the ground. Now I have just landed in Nairobi, Kenya, to be one of the speakers at the historic 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), that will be headlined by President Barack Obama. This year’s GES is particularly symbolic, as it is the first time that the forum will be held in sub-Saharan Africa. I am proud to be part of an event that focuses on entrepreneurship-led development in Africa, as this is so central to what TEEP and my Foundation are committed to. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152899502071949&id=17335426948&refid=17
