I've been working with a new artist for a couple of weeks now, we call him Cheq, and now it's time for you all to hear from him. A close friend of mine discovered Cheq, brought me in to analyse the singer, and his music. After asking for opinions, we became fully convinced when my lawyer who has been in the entertainment industry for 20, gave his endorsement.

Some weeks ago, we got together to sign a contract, and his career is about to kick off. I know we've all heard and witnessed various stories and all sorts of drama about record labels, managers, artists, and producers, and I can't promise that this will be any different, but what I can promise you is that I will take you through the journey of all we'll do to make a talented singer into one of the top musicians in Nigeria. Cheq releases his first official single, titled "Love In The Dark". The artist who recently joined Republik Music, chose "Love In The Dark" among all his recorded songs in order to send a message of love trust, and new beginnings, which is what he intends to find in the Nigerian music industry.


Akinsanya Olamilekan became known as Cheq in his early days as a music producer, as he would run several mic checks before commencing any recording. Such was his attention to detail and strife for perfection that he got frustrated with producing empty songs for other musicians, and decided to get on the microphone himself, and spread his message.

Republik Music discovered Cheq during a studio jam session with various artists. He stood out with his delivery and instantly won a work contract with the Lagos-based record label, and eventually signed a record deal.

Love In The Dark talks about the relationship between a woman and a man who meet for the first time, and want to get involve for the long-term. The song is written by Cheq, and produced by British producer, CertiBeats. It's a slow, soulful tune with an Afro vibe. The leadership of Unity Schools Old Students Association, the umbrella body of alumni associations of 104 Federal Unity Schools, has called on its members in President Muhammadu Buhari cabinet to make the expected difference in the political history of the country by fostering and sustaining good governance.

The call is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary of USOSA, Sotonye Apiafi Edohore. The association also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on the composition of the Federal Executive Council, which has some members of the body.

The statement was issued against the backdrop of the association’s coming Annual General Meeting in Kaduna.

President General of the group, Lawrence Wilbert, as telling the officials to live up to high expectations in ensuring good governance in the country, especially considering the training and background the unity schools offered them.

He stated that the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the association would discuss contemporary issues around the Nigerian state and the role USOSA needs to play in building a modern and prosperous country.


“USOSANs across the world will converge on Federal Government College, Malali, Kaduna State from October 11th-12th, 2019 to discuss the theme, ‘The Role of USOSA in Enthroning Good Governance and National Development.’ We enjoin all USOSANs across the world to align with the leadership of their national associations to fully participate at the AGM,” Wilbert stated.

According to him, the AGM will include a plenary, which will hold on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
