I already said it b4 that relying on box office numbers to judge a movie is flawed thinking!! A movie can make as much money as it wants. What matters most is what you see with ur own two eyes when u actually see the movie.

Gravity(Sandra Bullock) made mo' money than Man of Steel. And even a 10 yr old would know dat Man of Steel for all its flaws was a much better movie than Gravity in so many aspects...

The success of a movie isn't based solely on its box office numbers....

For the love of cheese balls, enough already! Next2Breeze, on this very thread, it was stated time and time again about how much tickets were pre-sold before the film was released. Parrotibaba, if you find yourself arguing with someone you consider an immovable object, leave it alone and move on. This film will make money, regardless of its quality. Folks should stop using box office as a valid excuse, we've seen Bay give us plot-ridden films that have broken the billion dollar mark. I still watch the Transformers films because they've got big ass robots in them, I still keep my brain at home when I watch them, because logic doesn't work for those.

When people start telling you to go in with low expectations or keep an open mind or forget your brain, you know that the film has issues. This film has arguably the two most popular comic book characters of all time in a film together. I know some of you don't know how much 3D, IMAX 3D & 4DX cost? They cost some serious money, as in money you'd have spent on cinema food money for at least two people, especially the latter 2. I've seen a family of 4 spend more than £40 for their cinema experience & that was a 2D film...This film will definitely have the same lifespan at the cinema as Star Wars: TFA, GoTG, Spectre & other blockbusters - at least 2 months, it is being shown worldwide on every available platform (I didn't even mention D-Box seat sef or star seats or those cinemas that offer really luxury seating, there's a cinema at Birmingham that uses only sofas/couches, even arthouse cinemas that screen random obscure films will screen this).

And finally, some folks will simply watch this because critics have trashed it. Sometimes people see sense and avoid craptastic films like The Last Airbender & Jem & the Holograms. I listened to my fellow fans and avoided those two, even though I'm a big fan of their original animated series, but these films were terrible terrible messed up adaptations that took a dump on their very vivid & fantastic source materials. And Jem is special pain for me since the two other Hasbro toy lines that were made into tv shows then films have become rather successful franchises (Transformers & GI Joe). It might have been maybe the girliest show I ever watched, but it did have car chases, holograms, a supercomputer, one really messed up stupid ass love triangle, a few explosions, some proper level scheming, at least one kidnapping & some rather catchy music that refuses to leave my head, even though they are over 20 years old. M. Night Hack-a-thon messed up TLA, who the f**k is Oong? When did Asians become so Caucasian? Apparently, s**t did change when the Fire Nation attacked...

Finally someone who possess basic comprehension skills, not that m0ron that I have been dealing with for hours now. The sheer number of critics giving this movie a thumbs down suggests that there is something truly wrong somewhere in the movie. You don't make a batman and supes movie and suddenly people gang up against the movie just because it's DC.

I get your point on the DC/marvel approach thingy but TDK and TDKR were dark movies as well, heck the daredevil TV series is as dark as f'ck but it's still successful so the problem is definitely somewhere in the movie for it to come under intense scrutiny.

the problem with arguing with a hard-core fan is that they can't comprehend. Nobody cares about how much bvs makes in its opening days, the end game is that it achieves the 1 billion objective, at least in the business side of things it was successful. I didn't enjoy age of extinction because it didn't live up to the hype but that doesn't mean I didn't see the movie. I have never said that BvS is bad because I haven't seen it yet, I'm just going by the overwhelming negative reviews on the movie, I'm not going to hate on the movie because I don't gain anything from that. You should stop shouting about the box office here and focus on the movie, it's not like you will get a kobo from WB. Age of extinction made a billion dollars in the box office but it was panned by critics. MoS received mixed reviews and still made $668m in the box office. I don't want to over flog this argument by repeating the same thing over and over again just because you lack basic comprehension. Bvs tickets was sold out before the release of the movie so why won't it make $400m in 3 days? But does that mean that the movie isn't average according critics and audiences alike? BvS opened in many countries so why wouldn't it make money? We are talking about the movie here and not the money it's making. You can't tell me that over hundreds of critics giving this movie negative are all wrong, something must be definitely wrong with the movie whether you like it or not. Google is there to educate you on how movies are rated either in the box office or in reviews.

I'm done with this back and forth argument. If you have a better thing to say than mentioning box office earnings then we will talk.

Oga there are movies that have negative reviews but financially successful, it's all about the appeal before the movie is released, like I previously mentioned, transformers age of extinction made over a billion in the box office but had negative reviews. There are also movies with positive reviews but bad box office performances.

Criticisms are what they are indeed and when a movie is bad or average, it receives negative reviews. Mind you most audience polls gave the movie a "B" grade which is average. What more do you want? When fantastic four was being slammed left and right last year by critics, I didn't see anybody calling them biased and one sided so why is it that now you guys seem to ridicule critics because it didn't favor BvS? When the good reviews were dropping in you and your ninjas were showing it off to the world but now that the bad ones are trooping in, it's fake.

but I never said I won't see the movie because of the bad reviews, I'm just of the opinion that you can't overlook the bad reviews and focus on the box office simply because you are a die hard fan boy. Audience poll in cinemascore gave BvS a B grade which is average, metacritic scored the movie 44/100 based on 50 critics, the Guardian scored the movie 2.5/5. Now surely you can't tell me that all these critics are haters or are biased against the movie. Man of Steel's budget was $225m and bvs is over $250m.

It doesn't work that way, movies either get a critical acclaim, a generally positive review, a positive review, a mixed review, mixed to positive/negative, a negative review or a generally negative review as was the case of the last fantastic four movie. Movie critics do not base their reviews on another, they base their reviews upon seeing the movie. If you check, amidst all the negative reviews, there are also positive reviews. Now if there are positive reviews then the bandwagon effect is non existent because even if the movie has an overwhelming negative reviews, there is still positive reviews going around.

About the comparison between the positive audience and the negative critics, you know people go to see a movie because of certain things. Me for example will see this movie because of the fight between batman and supes, maybe how they fight doomsday and I'm very sure many folks who have seen/are going to see the movie are also going/went to because of one thing or another. Some want to see how Affleck nailed it as batman, some want to see Gadot as wonder woman, some want to see psycho Lex while some want to see the relationship between Clark and Lois, etc. If you read the comments when a new trailer is released you will see that people want to see different things about the movie. Financially, this movie should make a billion dollars because of its budget and it's depending on people who are interested in seeing batman and superman on the big screen. There are movies with negative reviews which end up being financially successful, still doesn't make it a decent movie/movies. There are also movies with positive reviews but disappointing box office outings.

Finally if you attack the methods of a director or an author you are indirectly attacking the director or author. If the methods of Zack Synder are under intense criticism then the man himself is also under criticism, e.g in football, if the methods of a coach isn't yielding results, the coach gets the sack because the methods are from him and no one else. You can't question the method of directing used by Snyder without questioning the man, it simply doesn't make an iota of sense. Zack synder nails it in visuals, 300, the watchmen, MoS and BvS are proof of that but it's the overall package that matters.

Seems like DC copied the marvel formula if we follow your reasoning. The plot is rubbish. For spoilers sake I won't mention all the plotholes but I'll just say this Lois Lane, Lex, Doomsday. That is all

I repeat the trailers spoiled the movie, it's the worst case I can remember in recent times. Apart from the final scene, which you'll still predict, they showed everything. Doomsday was terrible cgi, he looked like a character from a low budget movie
DC doesn't do post credit scenes, MoS didn't have one. Though they should have put that JL setup as post credits, it was lame the way they crammed it right before you know what. And don't get me started on that dream sequence
