Reveals How He Funds Court Cases and Plans to Transform Nigeria Omoyele Sowore is a renowned activist, Publisher of Sahara Reporters, a former presidential candidate, and founder of the African Action Congress (AAC). In this interview, he speaks with Akinrinlola Olumide, publisher of Starnews NG. He gives reasons why he is not satisfied with past governments in Nigeria, from the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He also talks about his presidential ambition, numerous court cases, funding, and how he intends to transform Nigeria if elected president. Question: What initially drew you to activism, and how has that shaped your approach to politics today? Ans: I was drawn into activism very early by lived injustice, growing up in Kiribo, now in Ese-Odo Local Government in Ondo State. As a child, I witnessed police oppression, an invasion by the kill-and-go police in my hometown, and as a student, I saw how power was abused and how silence enabled oppression. That experience shaped my politics into one grounded in resistance, accountability, and people power, not elite consensus or transactional politics. Question: You have faced numerous legal battles throughout your career. How do you manage the financial burden of these court cases, and what does it say about the state of political dissent in Nigeria? Abuja, Nigeria – In a surprising move, Hon. Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior, paid an unannounced visit to the Gwagwalada Immigration Office. The visit comes in the wake of growing concerns about long wait times and unequal treatment of Nigerians seeking to enrol for international passports. The minister’s unexpected arrival on Tuesday has gone viral, sparking conversations on social media about the inefficiencies within the immigration service. Upon entering the office, Ojo noted the backlog of applicants waiting for their turns, visibly frustrated by the slow pace of operations. During his interactions with the staff, he questioned why the enrolment process appeared to be stalled. “How long does this enrolment take?” he asked, to which an official responded, “Like three minutes.” The minister then scrutinised the numbers, indicating that with only seven enrolments completed by 9:26 a.m., the efficiency was far below acceptable standards. As the 2027 presidential election approaches, Starnews NG has gathered information suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is considering a strategic shift by potentially replacing Vice-President Kashim Shettima with a Christian running mate. Insider sources within Aso Rock indicate that this move may be linked to ongoing discussions with the United States government regarding the protection of Christian communities amid rising security threats in Nigeria. Findings by Starnews NG suggest that this reassessment of the vice-presidential candidacy is partly connected to a truce reached during a recent delegation of senior Nigerian officials, led by National Security Adviser Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, who visited the United States. During this visit, U.S. officials under President Donald Trump raised concerns about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, prompting discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation to combat terrorism and enhance security for all citizens. Political analysts are speculating about potential replacements for Shettima, with several prominent northern Christian figures emerging as frontrunners. Niyi Iwakun has shared his thoughts and experiences about the death of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), the Ondo State Gubernatorial Candidate of Social Democratic Party who died on September 3rd, 2025, in a controversial and questionable circumstances. Iwakun who happens to be Akingboye’s Media Aide until death, wrote a personal opinion in Starnews of Publication of today, December 16, 2025. He wrote: A Personal Account of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye’s Death and Its Aftermath By: Oyeniyi Iwakun HOW I FIRST RECEIVED THE NEWS At about 8:20 a.m. on September 3rd, 2025, while at my parents’ home in Ode Aye, I noticed several missed calls from Mr. Jimi Akinyan, former Ondo State SDP Secretary. The frequency of the calls immediately unsettled me. When I returned the call, he asked when I last spoke with my boss and urged me to reach out to him urgently. My attempts to call Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA) did not connect. Minutes later, Mr. Akinyan phoned again, saying he had received disturbing information suggesting that OBA had passed on but needed confirmation. I was completely shocked. ATTEMPTS TO CONFIRM THE NEWS I repeatedly called Mrs. Christianah Akingboye, but her line was busy and later declined. I contacted OBA’s eldest son, Mr. Samuel Akingboye, who confirmed the sad news, though he was himself confused and still trying to understand what had happened. He promised to update me as he was making arrangements to move the body to the morgue. My phone was overwhelmed with calls thereafter. I spoke with Mr. Samuel again and obtained his consent to make a formal announcement of the death. I issued a brief, professional public statement to manage the rising public pressure. At that point, no cause of death was known to me. Mathew 10:36 says it all. Tunji Ojo’s enemies are members of his party in Ondo State. Not even opposition parties in the state. It is well |
As the clock ticks towards Christmas, a palpable sense of unease envelops the corridors of power in Nigeria, with insiders revealing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to undertake a significant reshuffle of his cabinet. According to a presidential source who spoke to Starnews NG, this decision comes amid escalating insecurity and concerns over the performance of certain ministers. The source, who requested anonymity, indicated that many ministers are currently engaged in frantic efforts to secure their positions, lobbying for retention in the face of impending changes. Findings suggest that the president’s decision to remove certain cabinet members is driven by growing security concerns, non performance as well as reports from the Department of State Security Services (DSS) regarding the academic credentials of some ministers. Among the first casualties of this impending reshuffle is the former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who has been asked to resign. While the official narrative from the president’s office cites health reasons for his departure, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has contradicted this, alleging that Abubakar was compelled to step down at the behest of President Tinubu. Following Abubakar’s exit, General Christopher Gwabin Musa was appointed as the new Minister of Defence. Insider sources indicate that President Tinubu’s resolve to reorganise his cabinet is not merely a matter of performance optimisation; it is also an effort to safeguard the integrity and image of his administration amidst the rising tide of insecurity. With the 2027 general elections looming on the horizon, Starnews gathered that the president appears determined to present a capable and united front. In a startling revelation, Bode Obanla, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has accused Abayomi Olasanya, the Chief Protocol Officer to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, of orchestrating a campaign of blackmail against the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo. This accusation has surfaced amidst growing tensions within the party, as a group loyal to the governor, Asiwaju Mandate Group, appear to have deviated from their foundational principles, which include supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. In a video posted on social media on Saturday, Obanla claims that Olasanya is behind a persistent dissemination of false information and propaganda directed at Tunji Ojo, including serious allegations of academic forgery concerning the Minister’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate. Notably, Starnews NG reports that the NYSC has confirmed the authenticity of Ojo’s credentials, yet the faction continues its attacks, prompting many within the APC to distance themselves from such unprofessional behaviour. Obanla has called upon party leaders, including Governor Aiyedatiwa and Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ade Adetimehin to intervene and rein in Olasanya. He underscored the importance of unity within the party, warning that ongoing discord could undermine their collective objectives, particularly in light of the approaching 2027 elections. “All those things they are writing about the minister on social media is on the desk of Abayomi Olasanya. I’m calling him out,” Obanla stated, insisting that the governor might not be fully aware of the situation. He further emphasised the necessity of respecting the roles of politicians in Ondo State and urged the state chief protocol to concentrate on his responsibilities rather than engaging in divisive tactics. Una dey look at it from the angle of terrorism. No one is looking at it that Nigerians have been deceived for long. I watched the video of the pastor who said his members should fortify themselves like him. He openly confessed to that. If not for the attacks on the churches, how many of his members will know he is a fake pastor. E dira! He reemphasised in the video. Someone said pastor Akinrinlola is in Canada while talking on what’s happening in Nigeria, does that mean he cannot talk on issue like this because he is in Canada? |
Sadly, a lot of followers are like zombies. They follow the docctrine of their pastors and they told them. They are too lazy to examine the scriptures to know if their pastors are teaching bliblical doctrine or occultic doctrine |
Which of them is mumu? The one who asked members to abandon God to seek juju or the one who said such practices are heresy and unbliblical |
In a bold response to a viral video of a clergy man in Nigeria who was seen urging congregants to resort to fetish practices for protection against terrorist attacks, Pastor Akinrinlola Olumide, an end time Preacher, a social critic, and the Publisher of Starnews NG online Newspaper had said that such actions reflect a disturbing departure from true Christian teachings and the power of God. Akinrinlola, the Canada-based Journalist emphasised the need for believers to rely on spiritual strength and divine intervention rather than turning to questionable practices that undermine their faith, adding that the devil has taken over the pulpit in Nigeria with many pastors operating business centers instead of churches. He is of the opinion that most of the Nigerian pastors are not true Christians but religious leaders. His remarks highlight the critical importance of maintaining the integrity of the church and the true essence of Christian belief in the face of adversity. Read below his opinion as Published by Starnews NG on Tuesday afternoon. The devil is truly on the pulpit! By Pastor Akinrinlola Olumide I watched a viral video where a church founder was seen urging the congregation to embrace fetish practices for spiritual empowerment and fortification due to the incessant attacks on Nigerian churches by terrorists. While I agree that Christians must not be stupid, naive, or foolish, I would like to state that the weapons we use are not carnal or fetish. As Christians, our weapons include the Word of God, praises, worship, repentance, forgiveness, and signs and wonders. While it is permissible and advisable for Christians to defend themselves in physical warfare against terrorists and bandits, it is unbiblical and a complete heresy to advise them to commit spiritual adultery by seeking help from lower gods when the Holy Spirit is available for those who have a relationship with Him and can truly seek Him for the demonstration of power, signs, and wonders. In 2nd Chronicles 20, the army of Israel under King Jehoshaphat achieved a miraculous victory from God Almighty against a coalition of enemies from the armies of Edom, Moab, and Ammon that came against them with praise and worship, despite their physical weapons. They believed in the power of God and did not even lift a sword to kill one enemy, for God laid ambushes against their foes. Elijah called down fire from heaven to destroy the king's soldiers in 2nd Kings chapter 1 without shooting a gun. Joshua asked the sun and moon to stand still to have more daylight so that the Israelites could defeat their enemies in battle. Late Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa sacked a sitting President in Ghana, Lieutenant General Frederick Akuffo, who dared to question his authority. With a mere pronouncement, Idahosa declared that if Akuffo was still in power within a month, then he was not a genuine man of God. It is on record that within a month, on June 4, 1979, Frederick Akuffo was overthrown in a military coup led by Jerry John Rawlings and subsequently executed. The same Idahosa sent away armed robbers who visited his house with the authority of God and stopped an international meeting of witches and wizards scheduled to hold in Benin City by demonstrating the raw power of God. What about the late Ayo Babalola and others? What about the late Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai and his demonstration of faith and the power of God? It was public knowledge how late Dr. Uma Ukpai and his American friend smuggled the Bible into China in traveling bags at a time when such an act was a criminal offence. They both spoke in tongues when it was time for the scanning machine to check their bags, and all the machines at the airport malfunctioned. How about his personal testimonies of surviving assassination attempts and other dangers, especially when assassins allegedly forced him to drink a poisonous substance? He reportedly declared, "Men like me don't die," and he drank it and survived. In the New Testament, there is no place in the Scriptures where the apostles urged Christians facing persecution to run to the devil for power or to engage in fetish practices to protect themselves. Jesus Christ has never changed; His power remains the same. The God who operated in the days of Prophet Elijah, Ayo Babalola, and Benson Idahosa is still the same today. As stated in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." It is unfortunate that many contemporary churches seem to have strayed from the authentic demonstration of God's power. The lines between the church and the world have blurred, leading to a troubling reality where the world has infiltrated the church. This compromise is a significant reason why we no longer witness the transformative power of God in our congregations. Many pastors today seem to be operating business centres rather than true houses of worship. In their pursuit of profit, they have forgotten the core mission of the church: to bring people into a genuine relationship with Christ and to demonstrate His power and love. Some leaders are more focused on maintaining a religious facade than on fostering a vibrant, living faith that reflects the teachings of Jesus. Moreover, some individuals have entered the ministry for personal gain, motivated by their own needs rather than a calling from God. They preach messages that cater to their desires, leading congregants away from the truth of the Gospel. This shift away from genuine Christianity has resulted in a lack of the miraculous and a decline in spiritual fervour within our churches. The absence of God's power in our worship gatherings is not due to any change in God but rather.. Read more on Starnews https://www.starnews.com.ng/the-devil-is-truly-on-the-pulpit/ |

That is if they don’t even go after the boy for coming up with a new innovation which will spoil their business. Insecurity: You are a sycophant and traitor, Erelu Oodua attacks Lai Mohammed over careless talk Erelu Mabel Tinuade Onaneye, the titleholder of Erelu Oodua and Irawo Ooni-Oodua of Yoruba land, has berated the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed for saying it is untrue and smacks of dirty politicking that President Muhammadu Buhari has nothing more to offer in tackling insecurity in Nigeria. Starnews Nigeria had reported that former President Olusegun Obasanjo says the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, ), has done his best to proffer solutions to the security challenges confronting the nation, adding that Nigerians should not expect more from the Katsina-born retired major general. Obasanjo made this known this week when leaders of socio-cultural organisations met in Abuja at a retreat on inclusive security organised by the Global Peace Foundation in collaboration with Vision Africa. The elder statesmen including Obasanjo; Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, amongst others, lamented the incessant kidnappings, killings in the country, calling for collective actions to halt the worsening insecurity ubiquitous in the country. Obasanjo said Nigerians should stop wasting time asking for the 78-year-old President to proffer more security solutions but should focus on the post-Buhari era. But Buhari’s Minister, Lai Mohammed, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, faulted criticism that President Buhari has nothing more to offer in tackling insecurity.
