He said that the Federal Government had done the necessary groundwork to finally resolve the current security challenge in the country. “Regrettably, terrorists have unleashed much pain and agony on our land. They have made widows of our mothers and sisters and orphans of our children. “They have shut down businesses, desecrated places of worship and brought untold hardship to both men and women. “They have violated the culture and peaceful way of life in our country, which took generations to build. “They have destroyed countless schools and displaced people from their communities, driving them into exile. “I want to assure you that the terrorists will not get away with their atrocities: they will not win; they will be routed. “As President, I feel the pain of all affected communities and families. I hear their cries and share their sorrow and pain. “We will not forget; we will not look the other way. We have done a lot of painstaking planning and work to resolve the current security challenge. “We will bring justice to the savage terrorists known as Boko Haram. They will be defeated,” he said. The president paid special tribute to personnel of the nation’s Armed Forces and other security agencies for their dedication and commitment to the war on terror. He said the federal government was “re-equipping and re-positioning” the armed forces to boost their capacity to win the war. Jonathan also commended all Nigerians for remaining vigilant and cooperative with the security agencies in the fight against “the common enemy”. He urged citizens to renew their zeal and patriotism to serve the nation with “love, honesty, faithfulness and hope for a greater tomorrow. “As I have always maintained, none of the challenges before us is insurmountable. “We must come together as a people and work with single-minded unity of purpose to overcome them. “Let us continue our march to the future, toward the attainment of our collective vision of a strong, united, prosperous and harmonious nation – a secure nation for us and for our coming generations,” the president said. Abuja – Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag-bearer, on Wednesday urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and optimistic in the New Year. Buhari said this in his New Year Message released to newsmen in Abuja by Mr Dele Alake, Director Communications, the Buhari Campaign Organisation.BUHARI-optimism According to him, he shared the anxiety of the middle class, the unemployed and the poor who have borne the brunt of the policies of governments for so long with increasing burden. “Electricity shall cost more. The devaluation of the naira means the price of goods and services shall rise. Essential goods are being removed from the reach of the poor. “The President himself has declared that Year 2015 shall be `tough’ on our people. “Against this season of despair foisted on our people, I bring to you, a New Year message of hope and optimism. “I share the anxiety of the middle class and the poor….. I share the fear of the unemployed whose hopes for new jobs in the New Year is being dashed because companies will cut jobs to escape inflationary spirals. “I share the concerns of the manufacturers whose import-dominated production will be challenged by the austerity measures,’’ the statement read in part. He said it was a matter of historic record and personal conviction that he was seeking re-election. “I have offered to serve our country thrice in this civilian dispensation. I have done so in the faith that my life has no meaning if my country cannot get it right. “I have done so in the conviction that God has spared my life because it can still be given to make this country realise her manifest destiny as a black Super Power. “I have done so in the hope that our people shall see through the scaremongering of those who are scared by the values that I represent. “The values of transparency, anti-corruption and development of our human and material resources,’’ the statement further read. Buhari said a vote for the APC meant “cheaper electricity, food security, accelerated power supply, integrated transport network, free education, affordable health care service and effective security of life and property’’. This kind of scenario is definitely hard to judge, mistake has no bound. Am sure the lady would never have wanted her baby to slip off, all she was doing was making him/her comfortable. So also, there's no way the driver would have averted that. And not until something horrible happens, people will never see the error. Cos am sure you've seen thousands of women backing baby on Okada before now |
