Politics / Open Letter From The Black Egbesus Confraternity by nigerdelta00: 2:53am On May 27, 2016
We are the concerned sons and daughters of Niger Delta; we are the BLACK EGBESU CONFRATERNITY. Due to the recent killings, bombings and oppression going on in the South-South region we can no longer keep mum, pretending all is well. BEC are very surprised and angry at the leaders of Niger Delta and all those supporting the hastily formed militant groups (the phony Niger Delta Avengers and the Red Egbesu Lions), it is a common knowledge that they are not acting on their own but have strong backing from some evil elements in States Government across the Niger Delta. We know who they are and can no longer tolerate their evil deeds on our dear father land.

It is a fact that no sane man or groups fight for the good of the people by destroying their heritage and crippling their livelihood. If by blowing up pipelines and causing mayhem could solve our problems then Niger Delta would have been a better place since the days of Asari Dokubo and Ateke Tom, etc. The most annoying of all is the order issued to the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu and Sambo Dasuki unconditionally, these men are not from the Niger Delta, if the fools are really agitating for them they should go and destroy properties in the East and up North not here in Niger Delta.

Moreover, for those militant groups clamouring for Biafra in the Niger Delta region we vehemently condemn. If they have been selfishly blinded by Biafra agitators who have enriched themselves with the ‘Biafra slogan’ we are not. Niger Delta is not part of the Biafra agenda. It is in history that most of our celebrated fathers, the likes of Ken Saro Wiwa, Adaka Isaac Boro and others Ijaws, fought against the Biafra. We are proudly Niger Deltans. We are Nigerians.

We enjoin the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to promptly wake-up and return normalcy to our communities or we shall not hesitate to pick up arms to defend ourselves seeing that the amnesty agreement had been violated. Black Egbesu Confraternity cannot watch idly from the other side while our brothers destroy our dear farther. These are our three major demands:
1. Adequate measures should be put in place immediately to prevent more pipelines destruction.
2. The government knows those sponsoring these destructive militants, they should stop playing politics and apprehend them from their safe haven.
3. The amnesty programme should be looked into and enhanced to be benefit all the concerned militants
If these conditions are not met or addressed within a period of thirty days from the date of this publication we shall float our boats, flaunt our colour and destroy the destroyers of peace and economic activities in our land along with the politicians sponsoring them, and anyone that dares us not excluding the Army.

We, BEC, have spoken.
