The more i try not to think of 9ja and its situation, the more i think about it and one(1) thing constantly bug me, is Nigeria not a failed state?
Everywhere you go,even amongst your kinsmen and church members, corruption is the norm. i mean you cannot get any thing done without "kola".
The only Good thing that has come out of 9ja is it's music
What do you think??

Some nigerians can be very funny.
Are you talking about the ever recycling christian music or the dead on arrival afro hiphop?
I will only excuse you if are referring to the music by Osadebe, E.Obey and co.

Are you forgetting that it was IBB that institutionalized . . . 19?
Re: Nigeria: A Failed State? by bawomolo(m): 6:54pm On Sep 23, 2008
institutionalized or not, no ethnic group has a monopoly on 419. corruption in nigeria goes way to the tussle for positions in the civil service. back to the thread, nigeria is not a failed state, just a relatively young country in distress.

Only God knows how long it would continue to be a young country in distress. We have had so many visions that didn't come true and now the vision 2020 is no more realistic

vision 2020 can be realistic if more people clamored for it and actually though about the power of their vote. just voting for a guy because they speak the same language as you or attend your church doesn't make sense. countries like botswana and senegal are good example of what good governance can lead too.

I agree wholeheartedly. Nigeria is just a young country experiencing growing pains and in the grip of feudalism. Europe was the same in the 19th century and they had had democracy since the 17,00's. It will take another 100 years or so before we start to see any semblance of a civilised prosporous nation. One thing that encourages me is that media are starting to grill politicians on their record which is the first step on the road to accountability. Now every politician has to explain his actions to the people. This was not the case during the military era.
