This is a draft design i made for UFC fighters (Rashad Evans and Forrest Griffin) I mixed man with machine, what do you think?

Re: Check This Design Out by Gamine(f): 8:54pm On Feb 28, 2009
Fake.
Re: Check This Design Out by Raymond88(m): 9:07pm On Feb 28, 2009
Yea it's fake, how do you rate the overall effect though.
Re: Check This Design Out by Gamine(f): 11:48pm On Feb 28, 2009
Fake.

As in,

The Metal parts look like something out of a 1950 comic book.

The blood, watered tomato sauce

The font is too informal for "Fight"

Basically, badly photoshopped.

This is just the a draft not the final, i want to know if the man in machine blended fine, ignore the background and fonts. . .

Hmm, nice concept finally, but you have to work on the overall graphics effect to make it convincing. Like you said, its still a work in progress abi?
I would suggest you try this: instead of exchanging some body parts with machine parts, why not make it look like they both have metal endoskeleton. Like the Terminator concept. In that case, pieces of flesh torn to expose the metal frame underneath. Get my drift? If not clear, I'll show you how
Re: Check This Design Out by Raymond88(m): 11:30am On Mar 01, 2009
@ Gamine
Why? did the light of the machine and body have different lighting?

@Kemjisuper
Thanks, someone else actually recommended the same terminator thing to me in another forum, funny enough that's exactly where i got my inspiration from when i saw this poster.

Re: Check This Design Out by Gamine(f): 11:35pm On Mar 01, 2009
@Raymond

Look closely at your work and the terminator pix

you should be able to gain an understanding.

The metal parts you tried to fuse are unsuitable
Re: Check This Design Out by Raymond88(m): 12:23pm On Mar 02, 2009
So it's just me using the wrong parts. . .
Re: Check This Design Out by sojioguns(m): 5:38pm On Mar 02, 2009
Raymond, nice try I must say but as Gamine has stated (even though I think she was harsh) your choice of body parts is wrong. There is already a mindset as to how the human anatomy is. Where is the rib cage for the guy on the left? You need to fashion your endoskeleton after the human anatomy because your design depicts they are cyborgs (HALF HUMAN). If they were imaginary characters then you could get away with a lot of things on the basis or creative license. You also need to match the lighting of both the humans and the robots.
My last comment is the skin shouldnt be too cleanly cut. In all, it is still a very good try.

On Photo-manipulation, here's something I did a while back.

Kinda same concept

i dunno but i think apart form the color and a filter based issues. i think this is pretty nice. i mean ive seen international magazines with worse stuff than this and it works. you dont have to go rocket science and get all the bolts and screws in place to make a thing like this work. it kind of has an air of an abstract style that a lot of magazines use a lot particularly for public figures and politician check mags like time and the others u'll get my drift. imagine its election time and two politicians are employing the latest that technology has to offer to have an over the other and the manipulation was done with the two politicians pics. say buhari, yaradua. dont you think it will appeal to you. some mags even use crude cut out style with just the head of the person and some wierd (and different) body peices to illustrate. i dont think its tat bad. that tomato ketchup sucks tho. cheesy

Apart from all the stuff about lighting (which you can easily fix using the burn and dodge tools in photoshop), another thing you REALLY need to work on is the background. Try a darker background and create a light source in it that would reflect the shadows as seen on the fighters. That would also fit the tone of the graphic you're creating and remove the pressure of achieving a photorealsitic effect. By the way, you do realise that it's not as important for ALL the shadows to be right as it is for it to be convincing as an art piece; and i think that the background and fonts work really hard to take away the "convincingness" of the design away. But nice concept anyways.
